10 Ongoing Issues & Projects Development of harmonized vaccination rules for Equine Influenza Drive R&D projects under an OIE Collaborative Agreement to develop validated agent detection tests for certain equine infectious diseases Contribute to systematic revisions of OIE Code Chapters for equine related diseases Refinement of a South African plan for controlling African Horse Sickness and support to its implementation both at the local and regional level Drive the refinement of the High Health High Performance (HHP) project to achieve to optimal outcome for racing and FEI disciplines
11 Future Focus Areas Continued facilitation of temporary international movement of racehorses- with focus on resuming international horse movement from African Horse Sickness Disease Free Zone to other member countries Promotion of international health negotiations in liaison with International Horse Sports Confederation and OIE (OIE Public Private Partnership concept) Improvements and modifications to the existing health regulations in order to adapt them to the specific situation of racehorses to the relevant government departments Promoting timely transmission of health information on outbreaks of specific diseases from member countries through the OIE and the International Collating Centre (Newmarket) for equine infectious diseases. Attempting to harmonize health regulations and international horse movement protocols based on OIE standards of HHP Veterinary Certificates to facilitate international movement of racehorses for international races among member countries, with special focus on established racing circuits.
