2 Page 2 of 24 Welcome to the Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society CRABBET CELEBRATION XXI We invite you to join us for a weekend of relaxed, fun-filled horse showing and camaraderie. Come and experience that long ago feeling of what it was like to go out and show off your horse. Come and meet the beautiful Arabian horses up close and personal. There will be young ones, old ones and everything in between. If you have an Arabian, chances are good that Crabbet bloodlines are running through those veins. Fair Hill is a 5,633 acre Natural Resources Management Area, where multiple management practices are employed for the maximum use and protection of Maryland's natural resources. Bordered by Pennsylvania to the north and less than one half mile west of Delaware, Fair Hill is known for its pristine fields, woodlands and natural beauty. At one time, one of the largest private land holdings in the east, Fair Hill was formerly owned by William dupont, Jr., an avid equestrian who acquired the farmland as a means to enjoy riding as well as fox chasing. Fair Hill was purchased by the state in 1975 from Mr. dupont's estate. 8 Page 8 of 24 THE EASTERN CRABBET ARABIAN HORSE SOCIETY CERTIFICATION INFORMATION In order to show horses in the ECAHS specified classes, they must be certified to be at least 25 percent Crabbet/Blunt breeding. This is accomplished by pedigree research by the ECAHS Certification Committee and the percentage will be provided to two decimal points rounded to two decimal places (for example percent). Many horses that are not thought of as being Crabbet have the qualifying amount, so check carefully. To have a horse certified by the Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society, send a copy of the front and back of the AHRA, IAHA or AHA registration certificate and/or a pedigree if it is not contained on the back of the registration certificate. If sending a pedigree, please include the foaling date, color, sex and REGISTRATION NUMBER. Mail the information and check made payable to ECAHS to: PAT BOBB, CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE 86 WHITE ROAD COLUMBIA, VA The cost of certification is $5 per horse for members of ECAHS, and $10 per horse for non-members. The fee supports the printing and postage of the ECAHS certificate, which is suitable for framing. The ECAHS certificate indicates the percentage of Crabbet blood in the horse and this will entitle you to participate in ECAHS events providing your horse is at least 25 percent Crabbet/Blunt breeding. If your horse does not qualify for certification, that is, if it fails to meet the 25 percent requirement, your fee will be refunded. Certification deadline for Crabbet Celebration XXI will be August 15, Special incentive! Horses to be shown individually on the TRIANGLE. Each entry will approach the judging area one at a time, walk to the apex of the triangle and stand for conformation judging and at the judge s request to proceed on the triangle.
