3 Page 3 From True Blue Arabians: Found Lost Horse A while back I noticed I was missing one of my mares, True Blue Gabriel++//. I have been looking and looking, all to no avail. Much to my surprise I found her on facebook. It appears she has run away from home and joined the Grier School Equestrian team. Her job on the team is to perform for multiple riders from multiple schools. She is a rare Arabian doing this. She is a true ambassador for Arabians and specifically Crabbet Arabians. She was recently named horse of the day accumulating the highest number of points for her riders at the zone 2 Region 1/2 IEA Championships. We are extremely proud of her because this is her winter job. In addition she had a fantastic year showing with Multiple National and Regional Reserve and Championships. All of this culminated with her being named ECAHS Horse of the Year. She will proudly participate in the 2016 ECAHS Celebration at Hartford County Equestrian Center in Belair Md. On September 3 rd and 4 th. All of this happened because of the training and love that has been given to this horse by her wonderful trainers Chrystal Wood and Haley Korejwo. 4 Page 4 News from Ravenhill Arabians - March 26 was the first ride of the 2016 competitive season in the Pine Barrens of NJ: the Bunny Hop CTR. It marked the beginning of our 7th season of competitive trail riding and was the first ride for my friend Sandy Howland and her Turbo Friesian (yes, it's really a registerable breed - can't be more than 75% of either Friesian or Arabian blood and Fina is half and half). We signed up to ride together along with our friend Kate Vogel and her Mustang Fez as we thought the 2 experienced geldings would help keep Fina on track for her first ride. Ride day dawned warmer than any other NJ ride I've ever been to in the spring but we weren't complaining! The horses all got along really well and about half way through our first loop we picked up another rider who was competing a new horse. This was a mare who went through Dr. Sarah Ralston's Young Horse Teaching & Research Program at Rutgers. Fortunately she fit right in with the other 3 horses and we stayed together for the rest of the day. All of the horses finished the ride well and we were very pleased with them. The Turbo Friesian came in 7th and won best Rookie Horse, the Rutgers horse came in 7th place and her rider won first place for Horsemanship, the Mustang came in first and Ravenhill Tsornin+ was Reserve Champion. I couldn't be more pleased with this ride and I hope it bodes well for the rest of the season. We hopefully will be at our first dressage show next weekend and then our first endurance ride the weekend after that so things are starting off with a bang! 11 Page 11 Announcements Attention all members: We are looking for participants to submit a picture of their special horse to be included in a 2017 Calendar that will be published as a fund-raiser for ECAHS. Each month will include a picture along with the horse's name, sire, dam, farm name, address, phone number and website url if applicable. If you are interested in participating, please submit your photo (preferably an 8 x 10, landscape and best quality) to Vivian Mack (22371 Courthouse Road, Yale, VA 23897) along with a check for $100 made payable to ECAHS. At the present time, the months of May, June, August and October have been spoken for. We plan to have the calendar available for purchase at Crabbet Celebration XXIII.
