3 Page 2 Welcome to the Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society We invite you to join us for a weekend of relaxed, fun-filled horse showing and camaraderie. We are excited and proud to be holding this year s Crabbet Celebration at Harford Equestrian Center and would like to welcome everyone, especially people in the surrounding community, and those that may never have attended one of our events. Everyone is welcome. One thing that makes our Crabbet Celebrations different from an ordinary horse show is the relaxed atmosphere and the people that know so much about Crabbet horses. They are glad to share their knowledge with any and all. We hope you experience that long ago feeling of what it was like to go out and show off your horse in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Come and meet the beautiful Arabian horses up close and personal. There will be young ones, old ones and everything in between. If you have an Arabian, chances are good that Crabbet bloodlines are running through those veins. Come and participate in the Clinics, let the young ones participate in our youth activities and see the beautiful Arabian stallions. Try your luck at our Chinese Auction! But more importantly, come and experience that friendly, family atmosphere that ECAHS is so well known for and is why we all look forward to coming. Join us for a special weekend. You ll be glad you did! Send your entries in early and get ready for a great weekend! William A. Buzz Moore President Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society

Lauren also works in Antibody Reagent Manufacturing. Please visit for more information about the family boarding & training operation. Lauren would like to thank everyone attending & wishes each Good Luck! PAT BOBB has owned Arabians since 1987, and has bred several Crabbet related horses. She is a Charter Member of ECAHS and has served as an officer or Board Member most every year since its origination. She is now serving as ECAHS Vice-President and chair of the Certification Committee. Though she has done little showing, herself, as an adult, she has attended and assisted with every Crabbet Celebration from the beginning. Crabbet Celebration XXIV, will be her first venture into judging, since she was a teen, judging the early Bit & Bridle Club shows in Chesterfield County, VA. YOGI MCCORMICK-To be updated. JANET OLENA purchased her first Arabian horse, a purebred gelding, in This horse proved to be a fine show horse under the guidance of John Van Barriger, an old time horseman and wonderful friend. Janet had learned to ride at camp and rode her friends horses until she could buy her own. Janet and John showed horses together for 10 years, attending Arabian shows in Pennsylvania and four of its surrounding states plus Massachusetts. During those years, Janet purchased two mares, bred them to John s stallion, a Crabbet bred horse, and her horse business was born. After John s death in 1978, she continued as a small breeder, owning two stallions, SS Toscannini and AJ Conquiborr, the latter being of Polish and Crabbet descent (slightly over 35% Crabbet). Janet learned a vast amount of information, horse lore, practical horse care, breeding, training and showing from John Van Barriger. She accompanied him on trips to judge small horse shows which led to her obtaining an AHA Arabian judges card. Over the years, she judged numerous open and 4-H shows and Arabian rated shows in the United States, including Youth Nationals. Foreign countries where she judged were Canada and Brazil. Later an AMHA Miniature Horse card enabled her to judge the minis for about 5 years. As a senior citizen, Janet has now downsized to one horse and only judges a few small shows. Riding in the woods of Sullivan County Pennsylvania is a favorite pastime as she ponders her past and recollects what a wonderful 50 years she enjoyed with the Arabian horse! PAUL SOLOMON has a BS degree from Penn State University in Agriculture with a number of courses in animal husbandry. Between 1953 and 1960 he assisted his parents in the management of Rock Creek Arabians in Gettysburg, PA. Beginning in 1960 and running through 1964, he managed Whitmore Arabians in Salt Lake City, UT, the largest Arabian farm in the inter-mountain west. Mr. Solomon also successfully showed Arabians over the entire western states including CA and was responsible for overseeing the breeding program. In more recent years, he owned/managed Woodbridge Arabians in York County, PA and was associated with Jimmy Dean in standing Gainey-bred Arabians at his farm including Gai Apache, Gai Shannon and Gai Torero. He has judged a number of Arabian shows in the amateur circuit over the years and Mr. Solomon still retains an interest in the Arabian horse. CLINICS/DEMOS Trail Clinic-Janet Olena will give one-on-one instruction on completing trail obstacles. Each participant will be given pointers on how best to approach and complete an obstacle that is troublesome for your horse. This is not a judged class and there is no entry fee. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis, no fixed times. Trail classes will be held on Sunday.
