3 MCI of GB Rules and Regulations INTRODUCTION The Iberian Horse Dressage Masters (MCI GB) will hold dressage competitions throughout the year specifically for Iberian horses. Any Member wishing to participate in the Masters series is deemed to have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions. IBERIAN HORSE DRESSAGE MASTERS (MCI GB) comprises a number of different levels: 10 tests of classical dressage in order of increasing difficulty as follows: PRIMERA Preliminary - Young Horse 4-6 year olds NOVILLA Novice/Elementary 4-6 year olds MALAGA Novice/Elementary 4-6 year olds GOLEGA - Elementary SEVILLA Medium/Advanced Medium EVORA Advanced Medium LISBOA Advanced Medium MADRID Prix St George MAGISTRALE Intermediate B REYALE Grand Prix Plus 4 x FREESTYLE TO MUSIC: CARMENCITA - Elementary FLAMENCA Medium/Advanced Medium LUSITANIA Advanced Medium/Prix St George IBERICA Grand Prix 2 DEFINITIONS IBERIAN HORSE DRESSAGE MASTERS (MCI of GB): A set of tests (heats) and Masters held in any one year. Competitor: A rider and horse. A competitor is defined for the qualifying season. A rider can ride as many different horses as he/she wishes. Qualifying Season: Beginning 1 st January 2015 until the end of Rounds: A set of dressage tests generally occurring on the same weekend. 3

4 Masters: Is the Final with finalists that have qualified from all circuits within all countries in Europe. The European Masters: Brings together associations of countries that have organised the qualifications for selection of the Masters (final). Each country can have either a National circuit or several Regional circuits. Each MCI association is free to organize selections in their own country: number of circuits, number of heats, method of allocating points for the ranking selection and National final. 3 ORGANISATION OF THE IBERIAN HORSE DRESSAGE MASTERS (MCI OF GREAT BRITAIN) In 2014 France merged all the former regional circuits into a single National circuit resulting in a single ranking selection for the Masters (final). Selection for the European Masters (final) is achieved by awarding points to competitors based on their score/s obtained during their participation in dressage competitions organized or sponsored by the Iberian Horse Dressage Masters (MCI GB) during the qualifying season in the territory of Great Britain. The following tests will be the subject of a final or Masters, resulting in the accumulation of points for each round: Primera, Novilla, Golega, Sevilla, Lisboa, Madrid, Magistrale, Reyale, Freestyle Carmencita, Freestyle Flamenca, Freestyle Lusitania and Freestyle Iberica. Malaga and Evora are NOT qualifiers for the final, they are practice tests. The MALAGA test is for horses of 6 years old and over and first time riders to commence in dressage competitions. EVORA is a transition between SEVILLA and LISBOA to allow competitors to progress with collection of the horse more gradually. We reserve the right to cancel a round at any time without notice particularly for safety reasons. The cancelled heats/rounds may or may not be re-organised, depending on the calendar. 4

To clarify: 2 points for participation + 2 points for Traditional Dress = 4 extra points per dressage test Accumulated points in the qualification rounds for provisional rankings. After each event, the MCI of GB committee will announce a provisional ranking once all the scores are received for each test. This will be calculated from the percentage marks received on the day transferred into points plus taking into account the extra points earned by each competitor during each test. This will be updated through the qualifying season on our website showing the total Masters points obtained during each qualifying season. Total Masters points equals the combination of all points for the selected test (eg Malaga). The best three scores for that particular test achieved during the qualifying season will be attributed to this horse and rider combination for ranking purposes. A competitor may therefore participate in as many tests of the MCI of GB as they wish, all these points (including extra points for dress and participation) will be taken into account in the total Masters points and only the 3 (three) best scores (results) will be retained for the records for the final Masters points. 11

The welfare of horses takes precedence over all other requirements at all stages of their preparation and their training. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and saddler/tack and transportation. 2. To be allowed to compete, horses and competitors must be physically fit, competent and in good health. This includes the use of medications, surgical procedures which threaten the safety or well-being of horses, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids. 3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves constant attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, safety of the site and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event. 4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive the proper attention they are due after the competition and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This includes proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement. The FEI urges all involved with the sport of Equestrianism to attain the highest possible level of knowledge in their areas of expertise. A full copy of this Code can be obtained from the Federation Equestre Internationale, Avenue Mon-Repos 24, CH-1005 Lausanne, Switzerland (Tel: ). The Code is available in French and English. It can also be found on the FEI website ARTICLE 401 OF THE GENERAL PRINCIPLES AND PURPOSE FEI (New Version 2008) The purpose of Dressage is for the development of the horse into a happy athlete through harmonious education. It has the effect of making the horse calm, supple, loose and flexible but also confident, attentive and keen thus being in perfect harmony with its rider. The freedom and regularity of the paces The harmony, lightness and ease of movements The lightness of the forehand and the engagement of the hindquarters, originating from a lively impulsion The acceptance of the bit, with submissiveness/thoroughness without any tension or resistance.
