3 About Event: On December 21, 2014, the Cambodia Karate-do Shotokan Academy is organizing a national Karate-do Shotokan Demonstration and Friendship Competition, which brought more than 400 Karatekas from 21 Karate clubs in Cambodia to perform technical demonstrations in different categories: 1) Children below 10 years old; 2) Young Adults 15 years old and below; 3) Young Adults 16 years and above. There were also Group Kata demonstrations by younger adults and Kumite (Friendship Sparring) as well as demonstrations of other martial arts by other masters. The event is aimed at supporting the policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia in term of promoting and developing sports and to get athletes ready to compete at the SEA Games when Cambodia will be the Country Host in The Karate Academy hopes to make a small contribution to support the efforts of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the National Olympics Committee, the Cambodia Karate-do Federation, by organizing regularly national events to raise the awareness of this Japanese martial arts as well as to empower younger karatekas to understand the values of discipline, self respect, community solidarity, and nation building. 3

5 The highlight of the event is the Special Address by Shihan (Master) Takashi Shibuya, 9th Dan, Japan Karate Federation. 5

6 6 Master Shibuya is leading a high level delegation of Karate Grand Masters to the Kingdom of Cambodia to promote Karate Shotokan, the world renowned Japanese martial arts.
