1 Frequently Asked Questions Birmingham, England May 21-27, 2012 Do I need to purchase TravMed Insurance as a member of Team USA? TravMed is required and is being provided as part of your registration fee. The provided coverage runs from May 19 to May 28, 2012; if you are departing the United States before or returning after the covered period, please extend your coverage at $3.00 a day by calling MEDEX at and stating you re a member of USA Cycling. Your policy number and information card will be distributed via approximately 10 days before coverage begins. Please print the information and carry it with you when you travel. TravMed Abroad Insurance is mandatory to ensure a minimal level of coverage for all athletes traveling and racing abroad under the organization of USA Cycling. The policy may fill gaps in an athlete s personal insurance coverage and also covers that individual during competition and or racing (something many other insurance policies exclude.) Some hospitals require up-front payment of medical expenses for non-residents and visitors. Do I need a passport if I travel by air, sea, or car? Yes, you will need a U.S. passport if you are traveling by air, sea, or car into Great Britain. Do I need a Visa to go along with my passport? No, U.S. citizens traveling to Great Britain do not require visas for stays of up to 90 days. Visit the Embassy of London - UK web site for the most current visa information. Where is the official hotel for USA Cycling BMX in Birmingham? Crowne Plaza Hotel Birmingham Center Holliday Street, Birmingham. B1 1HH +44 (0) When do we receive our Team USA jerseys? Team jerseys for the Challenge and Master classes will be distributed at the official Team USA hotel. Look for USA Cycling signage to locate the room on the following days and times: Mon May 21 10:00am 12:00 noon ROOM Announced on-site* Tue May 22 8:00am - 9:00am Wed May 23 8:00am - 9:00am **Please bring your jersey receipt to receive your custom jersey.

2 When do Championships class riders receive their jerseys? All Championship class riders will need to contact Mike King to pick up team gear before 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 23. They can also be picked up during the Challenge & Masters class distribution days and times. When do the riders pick up race number plates and credentials? All registered riders will be asked to pick up their race packets at the team hotel. USA Cycling will have a room assigned to distribute number plates and credentials. Each registered rider will receive a number plate and credential for each bike. The following days and times are: Mon May 21 7:00pm 9:00pm (subject to availability from the UCI) Tue May 22 8:00am 9:00am Wed May 23 8:00am 9:00 am When does the Challenge class practice? The Challenge class will practice from 10a - 10:55a on Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be no gate practice on Tuesday. PLEASE NOTE: UCI issued number and side plates must be on bikes for practice. Riders can only practice with USAC issued national team jersey. Can I ride my Cruiser in the Challenge class practice on Tuesday and Wednesday? Yes, you are allowed to ride a cruiser or twenty inch bike in both practice sessions. When does the Championship class practice? The Championship class practices on Thursday with a warm up session on Friday afternoon & Saturday afternoon. *Schedule subject to change pending on confirmation from UCI / race organization THURSDAY, May 24 th o 7:00-7:45pm (45:00) o 7:50-8:35pm (45:00) o 8:40-9:25pm (45:00) FRIDAY, May 25 th Arena opens 4:15pm SATURDAY, May 26 th Arena opens 4:15pm Will the Championship class riders be able to practice with the Challenge class riders on Tuesday and Wednesday? No, the UCI will not allow Championship (elite) class riders to practice with the Challenge (amateur) classes. Will the Championship class be run on an Olympic/Supercross style track? Yes, the UCI will align the championship class with the Olympic & Supercross World Cup track design. Track will have a Supercross and a challenge starting hill.

3 Will the Championships class run a time trial to seed riders into start positions, similar to a Supercross World Cup? Yes, the UCI will run a time-trial for both the Junior and Elites classes. FRIDAY, July 29 th (TBC) o o Jr Men & Women and Elite Men & Women TT Est. 3:00pm Time Trial Super Finals Est. 9:00pm When are the opening ceremonies and where does it take place? The opening ceremonies take place on Wednesday, May 23-18:00 Will friends and family be allowed in the National team support area? No. The riders and USA Cycling staff are only allowed in the National Team Support Area. Each rider will likely have a wrist band with a serial number which will have to match the each rider s bike to enter and exit the Team Support Area. This area will be monitored 24 hours with security guards. Parents Area The parents meeting area will be located on the concourse between the pit and pre-staging areas to allow parents to see their children on the way to pre-staging before they race. There will be no access to the Team Area s or Pre staging for parents, only people with the appropriate accreditation will be able to access these areas. Riders should use this entrance to access the arena seating on all days EXCEPT Friday and Saturday Evening. There is no access to the parents area from the concourse, it is only accessible from inside the arena.

4 Who are the USA Team Managers? The Challenge Class team manager will be Jeff Glynn. He will have two volunteer coaches working with him. The Challenge class meetings will take place at the team hotel. USA Cycling s management staff will meet each night with all National Federations along with the UCI officials to announce any changes or updates for the event. There is no need to attend these meetings as they are designed for the NGB staff and credentials are required to access the meetings. After each meeting, we will arrive back to the team hotel and meet with the riders, parents, and trade team managers to discuss any changes, news, or updates for the following day. Will we also post a news board at the hotel near the elevators and near the team meeting room(s). The tentative dates and times are listed below: Tue, May 22 Wed, May 23 Sun, May 27 7:30pm Challenge Class Meeting 14 and Under 7:30pm Challenge Class Meeting 15 and Over / Masters Morning Pre-Race TBD: Pre-Race All Cruiser classes Do I need to wear gloves while on the BMX track? Yes, it is mandatory that all riders wear gloves per UCI rules. o Gloves whose fingers completely cover the rider's finger tips. Under special circumstances, the competition doctor can allow for riders to compete without gloves. Will this event have drug testing? Expect the Gold and Silver medal winners plus a random for all the Championship class to be tested. It is also common for Anti-Doping tests to be conducted at any time during the event. Information will be submitted to the UCI prior to the event. For additional information on drug testing, please visit the USADA website at Will there be bike storage at the USA Cycling Hotel? To be determined. It is highly recommended you bring a cable a lock to secure your bikes while at the hotel and at the indoor race venue. USAC staff does not assume responsibility for the security of your bike. Will I have to apply crossbar, stem, and top tube pads to my bicycle? No, it is not required but it is highly recommended according to the 2011 UCI rule book (section XI, C-8, a, b, c)

5 Will the Championship (Elite) Class use transponders for timing and scoring? Yes, all Championship class riders are required to check in for bike inspection and allow for Swiss Timing to outfit all bikes with a scoring and timing transponder. Each rider will be responsible for this equipment once the transponder is released to the rider. Failure to return the transponder after the event to our assigned team mechanic will result in a 100 Euro fine which covers the purchase fee. IMPORTANT NOTICE Please make sure all bikes, tires, and equipment are clean of any dirt when packing bags prior to your arrival in Great Britain. The British Government is very strict about the transfer of foreign soils (especially areas near farm land) into the United Kingdom and it will not be an uncommon site to see others washing down equipment before they are cleared through customs.
