MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE NEXT MEETING November 15 at the home of Ronnie & Robin Raben, 4000 Rockledge Drive. Dinner at 6:00 PM, meeting at 7:30. The Rabens will provide burgers, sausage, and plates, etc. Members are asked to bring sides, desserts and chairs. Directions to the Raben s home. From Mopac, proceed to the feeder road going south of Far West. Take a right at North Hills Drive. Go through the second stop sign at Hart Lane. Take the second left on to Rockledge Drive. Rockledge curves to the right. After passing Rockledge Cove, it s the second house on the right (two story, white house). Also, Mark your Calendars for the Christmas Party Dec. 13. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT November is here and cooler weather should prevail. I always look forward to fall because of the milder weather and I look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Of course with fall comes football and it is one of my favorite sports. Also fall is the time of year to start working on a classic Chevy project which can be anything from just a maintenance checkout to a new paint job. Not by choice, Gary Brown is doing a complete frame-off rebuild. I will be glad to see his 56 back on the road again! I am sure that all members will be glad to give Gary any insight that they may have if they have undertaken such a project. And if he needs some physical help maybe we can schedule a tech session at his garage to assist him. That is what car clubing is all about! The Bastrop car show is coming up this weekend (11/10) and the weather forecast is promising so Pam and I are planning to attend it. It was a great show last year and it is organized by Gary and Barbara Baker who are members of our club. I hope to see some of our other members there too. Next Thursday (11/15) is the November club meeting date held at Ronnie and Robin Raben s house/world famous garage and it is always a fun meeting with good food. Side dishes are brought by fellow club members and Ronnie supplies/cooks the hamburgers and sausage. Next year s club officers will be voted on during the business meeting that is held after the meal. I hope all of you fellow members can attend the meeting. 1

2 See you down the road. Tom MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING Minutes from meeting October 18th at El Gallo on South Congress. Kay Bowen presided over the meeting. Sixteen members were present. President Tom Porter was ill with a virus. Kay presented the Treasurer s Report from July 19 forward and it was approved. We were all glad to have Bob Zay back. Kay had received a letter from the Children s Hospital thanking the club for the $1,900 donation that came from the club profit from Lone Star. Dan requested that several members accompany him to Gary Job Corps to deliver their check. A weekday morning, perhaps after Nov. 1 was discussed, but no date was set. Pat and Bobby indicated they would go and some others are considering the trip. Dan is supposed to notify by . Next month s meeting to be held at the Raben s. Dan is working on the Xmas party. December 2 is the date being considered. Nominations were made for 2008 Officers. The nominations were as follows: President, Dan Bowen; Vice-President, Dennis Zwernemann; Treasurer, Kay Bowen; Secretary, Pat Corbell. Dan urged everyone to take their classics to Fredericksburg the first weekend in November. The Houston Club will be there and a trip is planned to Luckenbach on Saturday. If you cant make that, the Houston Club will be at the Salt Lick for lunch on Friday. There is a correction to the Veteran s Day celebration in Bastrop. Johnny Dee will not be there. Jim Rankin expressed thanks on behalf of his mother for the flowers sent by the club during her hospitilization. The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully Submitted, Pat Corbell. HOGEYE FESTIVAL Members of the CTCCC showed up for the 20th Annual Hog Eye Festival in Elgin on Oct. 27. The day was perfect and so was the car show. The car show and activities were free and they had over 100 cars show up. The Car show was moved to the west end of town because it had gotten so big. There were two stages a few blocks from one another and many bands played all day long. All the cars were judged and voted on by the spectators. At the end of the car show, which was from 10:00 till 2:00, the awards were given out by the Hoggettes. These ladies were all dressed in Pink and made up to look like piggy's. They were very funny. During the day they appeared riding on the back of Harley Davidsons. They made their presence known to all. Wayne Casteel and Dan & Kay drove their cars to the show on Sept 27th. Jeff & Tammy Campbell were there with their 57. 2

3 It was a fun day with two bands playing at each end of town. The bands were many as they played for an hour and half, the next band would come up and they would play. This was well organized event. The vendors and Bar B Q cookers were doing well. We even got to sample some of the entries for the cook off. If you missed it this year but you need to attend it next year for sure. All this was FREE so there was no charge for the CAR Show... Sorry to say that none of the winners were our cars but two Chevy's, a 55 and a 57, did win in their category. We all had a great time and the Bar B Q was excellent. Dan Bowen Marble Falls Show The weekend of Nov. 2, 3 & 4th was to be the weekend at Fredericksburg with the Houston Club. The plans changed and they did not have their Cruise this year. Those of you who notified me that you would be attending that function were e mailed by me telling you of the change. So instead we Cruised to Marble Falls to the show on Main Street. We met at the Y and cruised up HYW 71. What a great sight to see all the cars together cruising in style...what a beautiful day it was. The temperature was perfect and the sky was clear. We arrived and started filling the street. Wayne Casteel & Ardeth, John & Gloria, Bobby & Maria, Stan & Carol, Cristi & Craig, Ben Ancira, Kay & Dan, Ralph & his wife, Robert Morris and a few others that were at the Y cruised with us. There were over 190 cars at the show. Pat & Claybourn, Doug Travis, Don & Marilyn, Pat Corbell, and Mike & Marilyn Cambell were already there. So we had good representation for the Club. On the way home, some of us stopped off at Spicewood Grill for a bite. This turned out to be a great stopping point as we had a few beers and appetizers. Everyone said that we need to do a cruise with the Club up here again. Hopefully next year when Houston goes to Fredericksburg it won't be the same weekend. Dan UPCOMING EVENTS Members.
