I'm proud that we accomplished our goals again this year. We had 16 members get awards and 4 of them won their class. The 4 that won there classes were: Gary P. We will have an open car show with the entry being a toy. Be sure and tell all your non-mopar buddies to join us at the toy drive and bring their old cars! After the toy drive we will convoy to The Salvation Army in Ft Worth with all our goodies we collect. For our December Club meeting we will have our annual Christmas Party with gift exchange. The club will pay $5 and you will pay $5 and we will eat a great meal provided by Billy Bob's. Then we will have the gift exchange. It is always a lot of fun to see gifts get stolen time and time again. Try and keep the price of your gift around $15. You don't want to miss any of our end of the year activities! See you there! WE ARE SELLING RAFFLE TICKETS FOR THE CAR SHOW!!!! They are $5 each and I hope everyone buys a fist full. It is for a GREAT cause and we want to show the Charitable Heart of Cowtown Mopars! The BIG NEWS IS WE NEED A COUPLE BIG SPONSORS. Contact me or another board member if you or someone you know can help us out with a show sponsorship. Sorry if some of this sounds familiar from the November newsletter! See ya soon! Beep!Beep! Mark Buchanan Cowtown Mopars President
3 From the Vice President Page 3 It is getting to the time of year when the wind will bite right through you, the morning air is cold and crisp, then it will rain and sleet and snow. Not a good time to be in the car port rying to get your car finished for the next show/race season. So... no one has an excuse for missing the next several meetings!!! We have our toy drive coming up in December and our Christmas Party at the monthly meeting. You will find more info about both in the newsletter. Just around the corner from that is when nominations open up for board members in January. It is important for all members to make it to the meetings early in the year to make your nomination and to cast your ballot. This is YOUR club and the leadership is YOUR choise. It is also time for all of the members to start the renewal process... it's easy. Fill out a membership form and send it in with a check or money order. Forms are available online at or ask any of the board members for one. We will have them available at all of the upcoming club functions. Mike Miller, Owner M.P.A.R Texas Outsiders Nostalgia Muscle Car Champion I need pictures from local events, car shows, and places you go with your Mopars! Please them to me for use in the newsletter! Thanks, Steve

5 Page 5 Got The Minutes??? The year 2006 is nearly over. The club, again, is a major player in car shows, racing, and community involvement. Many members collected award winning trophies at car shows from various locations across the country. The CMPT Show Team was well represented at these shows which started way back in January and most ended this past October. President Mark Buchannan predicted at a monthly meeting that the CMPT Race Team would break 1000 points this year. The Team did!! A Texas Muscle Car Club first and won the Challenge Cup again for the 5th straight year. Congrats goes out to all the trophy and race winners. Club functions in December include the annual toy drive and car show to be held at our club sponsor's location, HUFFINE'S Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, in Lewisville, and the club Christmas Party at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth. Webmaster Mike Miller has the exact dates and times along with event info on the club website. Before you know it 2007 will be here with indoor shows at both Dallas and Ft. Worth in January and February, March has the Louisiana Mopar Nationals with a new location, and our annual CMPT Round-up in April. This year will be huge as compared to others in the past. The Race Team will be out in force again to defend the championship. So as we bid Mahalo to 2006 and Aloha to 2007, please remember those members, friends, and neighbors with health issues. Drive carefully during the holidays and may your holidays be joyous. Ken Angyal, CMPT Secretary

8 Car of the Month December 2006 David Baures 1968 Plymouth RoadRunner This is my 1968 Plymouth Road Runner with a factory 383 and 4speed. I have owned it since 1989 and have taken it to many car shows and cruises over the years. While sitting at the dinner table one day, I was reading an advertisement for the upcoming Mopars At The Strip car show in Las Vegas at the end of March. I thought to myself, I sure would like to go to that show, but I new I couldn't since I had a busy work schedule. Then, later that day, I thought, well, why not go? The rest is history! I have made 2 trips to Las Vegas from Arlington in my Road Runner. Both trips were driving trips, taking the Road Runner to places it had never been before. The first trip was a pretty direct route with just a stop at the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater and Painted Desert along the way. We only experienced a mild snowstorm at the Grand Canyon. My Road Runner took a second place trophy at the show! We had absolutely zero problems with the car! This trip was just the ice breaker. The second trip to the show was the big one. My dad and I drove the Road Runner up through Colorado. Once there, we drove it up Pikes Peak, drove over Royal Gorge, and spent two days in Moab, UT. Moab offers several National Parks, including Canyonlands and the best of all, Arches National Park. This park is a perfect place to enjoy a car like this. The scenery and photo opportunities are endless. Our only mechanical problem was the alternator, which gave out in one of the worst snowstorms I can remember. Fortunately, there was an Autozone along the way and they had an alternator in stock! I had it swapped out in 35 minutes and were were back on the road. The show at the strip was again a big hit, although I did not win anything this year. I must say however, the quality of the cars at this show are incredible! My dad and I really enjoy taking trips in this car. I install at set of 2.76:1 gears for the trip and make sure my heater is in excellent shape, since some mornings the temps are down into the teens. We averaged 15 MPG, but we were not easy on it. Our speeds were usually over 70 MPH on the freeway, and in some areas averaged 90 plus! David Baures
