We hope you will join us for the North Georgia Waterfall Tour on Saturday, June 23. Meeting time: 9 AM (prompt) Saturday, June 23 Meeting location: 317 Habersham County Shopping Center, Cornelia, GA We will depart promptly by 9:15 for Toccoa Falls - if you miss us you can catch up! Lunch details: we will eat around 1 PM in Helen, GA on our way from Tallulah Gorge to Anna Ruby Falls at Hoffbrauhaus. They offer German and American food as well as several sandwiches in the $10-$15 range. Fees - unfortunately fees will be required for each of the waterfalls and state parks. Toccoa Falls: $3 per person Tallulah Gorge: $5 per vehicle Unicoi State Park: (you may reuse the parking pass from Tallulah Gorge) do not throw it away! Anna Ruby Falls: $3 per person Total mileage for the tour from Belk to Anna Ruby Falls will be around 70 miles. We estimate that we will finish up at Anna Ruby Falls between 4 and 5 PM. Great turnouts for cruise-ins, fantastic turnout at the GI in Nashville. It was a lot of fun. Be sure to check out the details for this months Waterfall Tour, Saturday, June 23rd and check your s for an Evite to July 21st Houseboats on Lake Lanier event. That event has a maximum of 50 ppl on the boats so be sure to reply right away. IMPORTANT: There is rumor the Piccadilly on Howell Mill will be closing. We will keep you posted. The manager did not have a confirmation of a date. Please me (dogwooddirector@gmail.com) any suggestions you have for new locations. Welcome New Members! Once you attend your first few club events, you will certainly recognize some of your favorite cars but you may not know many of their owners yet. I am here to help get you started and to introduce you to your club. Please reach out to me with any questions including our upcoming events as well as our monthly Cruise-In. CRUCIAL: The club needs volunteers to be on the board. Please call me if you have an interest - we need you to make your club great. It doesn't require a lot of time. 3 Road Trip to the Charlotte AutoFair! Our Visit to the Charlotte AutoFair By Gary Heichelbech Again this year, Dogwoodies trekked to Charlotte North Carolina for AutoFair! Five cars met up Friday morning to caravan North. I've lost track of how many times I've attended, but always had a good time looking at the wide variety of cars regardless of the weather. Speaking of weather, Friday had the best weather with partly cloudy skies and temps in the high 60's. Saturday and Sunday brought us light rain showers and slightly colder temps, but it didn't deter true car guys (and girls)! After arriving at the Speedway on Friday after a quick lunch, many members walked the track and checked out the cars for sale in the car corral. Others headed for the flea market and vendors area for that elusive car part. It s always fun to walk directly on the track of the speedway. This year it seemed that there were a ton of trucks for sale as well as the usual assortment of muscle cars. Of course some of my favorites were an orange 1976 Camaro Z28 as well as a 1971 Grand Prix. This year there was a unique car display of movie and TV cars including an Aston Martin from a Bond film, the Torino from Starsky & Hutch and the demolished Pontiac LeMans driven by Buford T. Justice in Smokey and the Bandit! That evening after returning from the track over a dozen Dogwoodies enjoyed a great dinner at the nearby Macaroni Grill. Unfortunately Saturday brought rain showers, but that didn't stop the AACA show which always brings out some pristine automobiles. Some of my favorites were a 73 Buick Grand Sport and 72 Buick Sun Chaser! I wanted them both! There weren t as many brave souls who brought out their rides from the local car clubs this year, however the AMC and Jeep clubs were definitely well represented! My FAVORITE was a pristine blue 72 Cutlass 442 convertible in the Oldsmobile clubs display! After checking out the hundreds of cars on Saturday, and we all dried out, everyone headed to our After Glow dinner at local club members, John Fryday and Bryan Downey s. They have a beautiful home near downtown Charlotte and served up a hot meal of BBQ, beans, salad and more. No one went home hungry, and everyone had a great time catching up and discussing the cars from the weekend. Most Dogwoodies took off on Sunday towards home and a few went back to the track to see what bargains could be had. I don t know if he got a bargain, but club member Glen Donaldson came home with a beautiful near perfect mid 70 s Fiat X1/9. We re looking forward to seeing it at a club event soon. A BIG THANK YOU to John and Bryan for hosting this year and making us all feel SO welcome! Make sure you mark your calendars for 2019! I know I can t wait!

How do you buy a 2016 model car in 2018 with literally NO miles? You do what John did and purchase a 2016 Tourag with the diesel engine option. This basically new SUV is loaded with tons of options including ventilated seats, navigation and panoramic sunroof. John loves his VW s and traded his EOS in for this nice ride. John said he just couldn t pass up the deal! Alejandro Guerara: 2005 Mercedes SLK350. Tellursilber (silver blue) with black leather interior. Completely redesigned for 2005, this retractable hardtop Mercedes only has 50K miles, a 6 -speed transmission, DOHC V-6 and custom wheels. Alejandro loves convertibles, and this is just one of his five cars he owns. He showed me pictures of the others and I can t WAIT for him to show them off at a future cruise-in!

He doesn t drive far to work, so decided to buy something he really liked, which is what he calls the Bricky Look Volvo. It has the 4-cylinder, 5-speed manual transmission and just 167K miles. In Volvo miles, that s just getting broken in! Thanks for sharing David.

19 MAY DEBUTS Reporter: Gary Heichelbech Photographer: Christopher Conway Mark Nichols and Herman Runyan: 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood. Sierra Gold with Sandalwood leather interior. Mark said in 1964 this car was advertised as 101 Ways New! He is the 3rd owner and believe it or not, this is his daily driver! It has 131K miles, the 429 V8 engine, Comfort Air, power windows, locks, trunk and heated seats. And it still works. They don t build em like they used to! Donnie Bentley: 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado. Triple black and Beautiful! It has every option on it except heated seats. It features a engine and only has 94k miles. This has been a LONG-AWAITED debut and Donnie didn t disappoint us! He purchased the car 5 years ago and after lots of mechanical restoration by himself and local mechanics it s finally road ready! Nicely done Donnie!

20 MAY DEBUTS Reporter: Gary Heichelbech Photographer: Christopher Conway Patrick Anderson: 1977 Ford Granada. Dark red with red vinyl interior. Except for the wheels, this is an all original car that Patrick found in Marietta. It has the 302 V8 Windsor engine, AM/FM 8 track, and only 64K miles. He sold his 1975 Granada after finding this one and determining that his old one had way too much bondo for him to consider painting. It s nice to see one of these in such great shape! Tobin Hagler: 1995 Gillig Fantom Bus. And not for something completely different! Yep, I said BUS! This used to be a city bus in Salt Lake City, but once it was retired Tobin got a deal on it, drove it back to ATL and is going to use convert it and use it as a traveling B&B. It has a Detroit series 50 diesel engine, 440K miles and a new transmission. We can t wait to see it finished!

You know what happens when you just go look at the dealership don t you? That right, you are VERY temped to buy! That s what Bob and David did when they looked and then traded in Bob s 2017 Ram for this newly restyled Ram with Crew Cab, 4X4, TONS of safety features, Premium sound system, Panoramic sunroof, oh and of course the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi! Nice!

23 July's Event - Mark Your Calendars Spend the afternoon out on Lake Lanier on two houseboats! Take a swim if you like. David Haygood, Mark Wiggers and Bill Sebastian and have generously offered to take us out on their houseboats. LIMITED to 23 people per boat (48 plus hosts). MUST RSVP via EVITE (coming out soon) asap and no later than July 7th. Once we hit 48 people I will take a wait list for cancellations. Due to limited attendance - only member/associate or member/1 guest will be able to register until the week before and we see the availability.
