5 Why Tonight s Meeting? 6 The Challenges: St. Gregory continues to experience enrolment pressures Nativity of Our Lord had some capacity to allow for some degree of boundary alignment in this area Mother Cabrini is a small school that is operating at capacity St. Marcellus is operating slightly above capacity Our Lady of Sorrows is operating above capacity and was added to the review for the purpose of reviewing the boundary shared with St. Gregory The Opportunity: To right-size school enrolments among the group of schools in the review
6 The Boundary Review Process 7 1. D. of E. prepares report recommending need of a boundary adjustment. 2. If approved, a stakeholder committee is established to review and reach consensus on the boundary adjustment. Committee hold a minimum of one (1) public meeting with a minimum of 30 days public notification prior to meeting. 3. Committee to be provided by staff with all relevant information, including one boundary adjustment option, on which to base discussion and achieve consensus.
7 The Process - Continued 8 4. If consensus is achieved: 5. If consensus is not achieved: (i) D. of E. informs school community(ies) about committee s decision. (ii) Boundary adjust is planned for and implemented no sooner that the following school year. (iii) Staff to implement the approved changes. (i) D. of E. prepares report for Committee / Board meeting. (ii) Opportunity for public input provided at a subsequent Committee / Board meeting. (iii) D. of E. prepares further report for subsequent Committee / Board meeting regarding public input received at the previous meeting. A decision may be made by Trustees art this meeting. (iv) If boundary adjustment is approved: a) D. of E. notifies school community(ies) about Trustees decision; b) Boundary adjustment is planned for and implemented no sooner than the following school year; c) Staff to implement the approved changes.
