The Jayhawks played their first home game on March 1, 1969 against Kansas State, falling Marlene Mawson ends her three-year stint as head coach with a record of Debbie Artman coaches KU to a 9-8 record Sharon Drysdale becomes KU s third head coach and leads the team to a 9-8 record Marian Washington takes over as head coach, becoming the fourth head coach in school history. Lynn Pr was named honorable mention All-American as well as being named All-Big 12 first team. Kansas ended the decade of the 1990s as the 21st-winningest program in the nation Seniors Jennifer Jackson, Jaclyn Johnson and Brooke Reves all became 1,000-point scorers. To open the season, Kansas tied a school record for most points in a game after defeating Grambling State Jackson was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District VII second team. Johnson was a third round draft selection in the 2001 WNBA draft Washington captured her 550th career victory at Nebraska on Feb. 19 in her 30th season as head coach of the Jayhawks. Washington honored by the Black Coaches Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award. KU more than doubled the win total from the previous year with a team comprised primarily of freshmen and sophomores Marian Washington took a medical leave of absence in mid-season, missing her first game in 31 years on Jan. 31, 2004 against Oklahoma State. Kemp became the 18th player in Kansas history to reach 1,000 career points when she did so on Feb. 16 against Texas Tech. She also became just the 11th Jayhawk ever to reach 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. KU won its 600th all-time game against Denver on Nov. 30, and played its 1,000th game against Washburn on Dec. 2. Bonnie Henrickson was named the fifth women s basketball coach in Kansas history on March 29, Bonnie Henrickson led the Jayhawks to the postseason for the first time since the season. KU went 1-1 in two games in the WNIT, both played at Allen Fieldhouse. The season opened with a school-record 12-game winning streak capped by a victory over No. 23 Texas.
