3 Team Rules 1. Maintain your grades! (2) F s and the athlete is ineligible for participation in the baseball program, beginning the following Monday for 3 weeks. Players can practice, but will not be involved in games or travel to games with the team. 2. There will be zero tolerance for tobacco or drug use. 3. Respect all coaches, teammates, opponents, umpires, fans, and the game of baseball. 4. Playing time is earned, not given. Based on ability, strong practice work ethic, hustle, dedication and attendance. 5. The athlete is responsible for communicating his / her absences from practice and games. Do not ask another teammate to deliver your message to the coaches. It is your responsibility. Failure to do so will result in missed game time. One to two unexcused absences will result in a suspension, 3 unexcused absences will result in removal from the team. 6. If a player is in need of some practice time off to study*, doctor / dental appointments, leaving town, etc., he must communicate with the coach prior to the time needed away. Do not notify the coach after the missed time, this will be an unexcused absence. *This time is to be used for studying and is not to be used as leisure time. 7. Cell phones and any media device are prohibited from the time the player is to be at the field for practice or games until after the practice or game. If there is a need to use a phone for arranging a ride or communicating with a parent or guardian, let the coach know prior to usage so they are aware of your intentions. 8. Players are responsible for bringing their own equipment, jackets, drink and food. 9. Foul language will not be tolerated. 10. Players may ride home with a parent or guardian as long as the parent or guardian communicates, in person, with the coach. No player will be permitted to ride home with, brother, sister, friends or another team parent, without prior approval from Jim Porter. 11. Arrive on time for all games and practices. Practice is to be taken seriously and your hard work is expected. Hustle at all times. Listen and pay attention when a coach is addressing you or the team as a whole. If you are unsure about a drill or lesson, ask for clarification. The only bad question is the one not asked! 12. Do not drive unsafe to get to a practice or game, allow time to be there on time. If you are running late, call a coach. 13. Games and practices should be taken seriously, we believe you should practice like you play and with that, you will become better baseball players. 14. 4 Teams at Palmer Ridge Varsity Program The Palmer Ridge varsity program is the highest level of competition for the baseball program. These games are competitive and are played to win while maintaining the standards that come with being a Palmer Ridge student / athlete. Our team goal is to make the playoffs and to win a state championship. We compete in the Pikes Peak Athletic Conference, 4A division. The varsity program will field what we believe to be the most competitive team that gives Palmer Ridge the best chance to win. There is no guaranteed playing time. JV / C Squad Programs The JV and C Squad teams exist to prepare the athlete to play at the varsity level and to work on developmental skills. It is possible for some players to swing between both JV and Varsity or JV and C Squad. Although development is primarily the focus, we will play with competitive intensity and strive to win. There is not guaranteed playing time, but every effort will be made to get players in games. Lettering Letters are awarded to varsity players who meet the criteria set by the head coach. A point system is in place requiring the players to meet the minimum amount of points to receive their baseball letter. Points are awarded for participation in varsity games, attendance at practices, grades and other areas demonstrating leadership and character, (known as coach s points, to be given at coach s discretion). 100 points is needed to receive a letter. Minimum requirements: Participate in 75% of varsity games. (Eligibility), = 25 points. Attend 90% of practices, = 25 points. Maintain grades at a C- average or better throughout the program start and finish dates, = 25 points. 25 points are needed in other areas. (Community Service, Leadership, etc.) 4 P a g e

5 BEARS BASEBALL UNIFORM ASSIGNMENT SHEET I,, have in my possession the below uniform(s) that I will use for the Spring Palmer Ridge 2013 baseball season. I will take care of and return all loaned uniform items. Once my season is over, I will return all items to the baseball program, washed. If I lose or damage any part of the uniform, outside of normal wear and tear from participating in games, I will be responsible for replacement or repair costs. Signature: Date: Varsity Uniform: Jersey # and Jersey#. JV Uniform: Jersey # and Jersey #. C Squad Uniform: Jersey# and Jersey #. Noted any damage on uniform at time of distribution:. Players are responsible for providing their own: NAVY BLUE undershirts, (short or long sleeve). These items must be worn as part of the uniform and are not to be different in color from NAVY BLUE. Failure to wear proper uniform colors will result in not participating in that game. Hats are to be purchased for $20 and are for players to keep at the end of the season.
