2 1ST ROUND DRAFT SELECTION (5TH OVERALL) ERIC BERRY DEFENSIVE BACK TENNESSEE FAIRBURN, GEORGIA OVERVIEW Mature beyond his years, the junior followed a similar path as his father James. Both served as team captains and both enjoyed three year careers as starters at Tennessee. A National Honor Society member who graduated with a 3.75 grade point average, he studied dentistry at Tennessee and interned at a Georgia dentist office this past summer. Known for his outstanding ball hawking skills, he fell seven yards shy of breaking the NCAA all time record for interception return yard, as his 494 yards rank behind the 501 generated by Terrell Buckley of Florida State ( ). As a junior, Berry displayed not only exceptional maturity, but the field intelligence of a veteran pro, showing the skill set to come up and be a dominating force in run support and also staying stride for stride with receivers. The 2009 Jim Thorpe Award winner also took home the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award in just his second collegiate season. That s why it came as no surprise when the two time unanimous All American selection made himself eligible for the 2010 NFL Draft at the conclusion of his junior season. The strong safety s 14 career interceptions tied Deon Grant ( ) for fifth on Tennessee s all time list. Even more impressive is the game changing impact Berry has once the ball is in his hands. As a true freshman, Berry racked up 222 yards in returns off interceptions to rank second on the school s season record chart. As a follow up, he broke the school and SEC records during his sophomore season, collecting 265 interception return yards and surpassing the previous mark of 244 set by Joe Brodsky of Florida in His career total of 494 yards off of interceptions also set an SEC record, shattering the previous high of 379 by Bobby Wilson of Mississippi ( ). Berry emerged as one of the premier defensive players in the country as a sophomore, and the pass defense saw a dramatic increase in effectiveness, rising all the way to fourth in the country allowing just yards through the air per game. Monte Kiffin brought a new scheme to the defensive unit in 2009, but Berry and the secondary still maintained their potency, ranking 12th nationally, as they allowed just passing yards per game. Berry was a highly touted prospect at Creekside High School, where he was a four year starter at quarterback and safety. The Parade All American led his team to a 37 5 overall record during his prep career, including two regional titles and an appearance in the State 4A quarterfinals as a senior. During his final season, Berry was named the Georgia Player of the Year by Gatorade and the Atlanta Journal Constitution as he collected over 1,500 yards rushing and 1,000 yards through the air. He added three interceptions while racking up over 40 tackles as a defensive back. His performance earned him a starting spot in the prestigious U.S. Army All American Bowl as a member of the East squad. The standout defensive back was selected as the nation s top cornerback prospect by most recruiting services including Scout.com, Rivals.com, ESPN, and Prep Star. He received the highest possible rating of five stars from Scout.com as well as Rivals.com, who list Berry as the top recruit in Georgia and the third best prospect nationally. Berry was a model student in the classroom. He maintained a 3.75 grade point average and was a member of the National Honor Society. Berry enrolled at Tennessee in 2007 and immediately made an impact on the defense, becoming the first defensive player and just the third overall in the Phil Fulmer era to start the season opener as a true freshman. The consensus Freshman All American started all 14 games and snagged five INTs for 222 yards and one TD in returns, breaking the record of 177 INT return yards set by Bobby Majors in Berry earned second team All SEC honors as he led all conference freshmen with 86 tackles (57 solos), including two stops for loss of three yards. During a contest vs. Florida, the team s third game of the season, he intercepted a pass and returned it 96 yards for a touchdown. The interception was the third longest in school history and the longest in 35 years. He was named the

3 SEC Freshman of the Week twice in the final three weeks of the regular season for gus performances vs. Arkansas (six tackles and two interceptions returned 98 yards) and Kentucky (14 tackles and one pass deflection). Berry continued his stellar play as a sophomore in 2008, being named the SEC s Defensive Player of the Year en route to becoming the first Tennessee player to claim unanimous All America honors since Antone Davis in He started all 12 games and tied for the national lead with seven interceptions as he collected 265 yards in returns to set a new SEC single season record, breaking a 52 year old mark of 244 yards set by Joe Brodsky of Florida in Berry was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and a semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy and the Bednarik Award. The sophomore standout also took home the Jack Tatum Award, presented to the nation s best defensive back by the Touchdown Club of Columbus, Ohio, and the Vince Dooley Award, given to the top defensive back in the southeast by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta. As a junior in 2009, Berry was officially recognized as the nation s best defensive back as he was presented with the Jim Thorpe Award. The safety was also a finalist for the Lott Trophy and the Bronko Nagurski Award, presented annually to the best defensive player in college football. Playing closer to the line in new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin s scheme, Berry ranked second on the team with 87 tackles (56 solos) while snagging two interceptions, raising his name to fifth on Tennessee s career record list. For the second straight season, he was a unanimous All American selection, becoming just the second player in school history to do so. As expected, Berry entered his name into the NFL draft pool at season s end. 5 2ND ROUND DRAFT SELECTION (36TH OVERALL) DEXTER McCLUSTER WIDE RECEIVER MISSISSIPPI LARGO, FLORIDA OVERVIEW It is hard to categorize McCluster at just one particular position, the same problem Southeastern Conference coaches had the last two years while affording him All SEC honors as both a running back and wide receiver. No matter where he is placed on the field, one thing that McCluster proved during his college career was defenses have to account for him at all times. He simply dazzled talent evaluators with his performances during the week of practices leading up to the Senior Bowl. That effort he showed at both positions are sure to keep the debate on where he best fits into an organization. The all around threat seems to have no preference for where he plays, performing with the attitude that brings back memories of a verse from John Fogerty s song, Centerfield. Put me in coach, I m ready to play. And that is exactly what he did throughout his career at Ole Miss. The university s second ranked all purpose yardage performer with 4,089 yards, only Deuce McAllister s 4,889 yards ( ) stood in his way of capturing that school record. McCluster has been an invaluable performer for the school s revived program. He joined Hall of Famer, Southern Methodist s Doak Walker ( ) as the only players to earn consecutive Most Valuable Player honors for their performances in the prestigious Cotton Bowl Classic. He closed out his career as the school s eighth leading receiver (130 catches), their seventh best running back (1,955 yards) while also ranking 12th in receiving yardage (1,703) and tied for ninth in rushing touchdowns (15) in Ole Miss annals. McCluster earned first team All State Class 5A honors from the Florida Sports Writers Association after helping lead Largo High School to the 2005 district title. He was named All Suncoast Player of the Year by the St. Petersburg Times and selected Most Valuable Player of Florida Athletic Coaches Association North South Football All Star Classic. The all purpose performer was also named Most Valuable Player and Best Back in the district. He was rated the No. 21 player in Florida by the Orlando Sentinel and also rated No. 54 at running back in the nation by Rivals.com. He rushed for 2,490 yards and 39 touchdowns, averaging yards per game as a senior. As a junior, McCluster amassed 1,424 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. He was the recipient of the team s Iron Man Award for never missing a workout, despite tipping the scales at 150 pounds during his prep days. In addition to football, he also lettered in basketball and track. An Honor Roll student, he was a state qualifier in the long jump and high jump. When McCluster first enrolled at Ole Miss, the coaches planned to red shirt him, but his performance in fall camp forced the staff to change their minds. He would start five of the first six games of the 2006 season. He finished his freshman campaign with 232 yards and a touchdown on fifteen catches (15.47 ypc), adding 68 yards and a score on eight carries (8.5 ypc) and 274 yards on thirteen kickoff returns (21.08 avg). In the 2007 season, he appeared in eight games, starting three at flanker, ranking fourth on the squad with 27 grabs for 326 yards (12.07 ypc) and two scores. He collected 63 yards on six rushing attempts and became more involved on special teams. He totaled two solo tackles while returning six kickoffs for 100 yards and six punts for 29 yards. With the arrival of head coach Houston Nutt, the new staff decided to unleash McCluster in He would earn second team All Southeastern Conference honors as an all purpose back. He started eight times in thirteen games, lining up as a slot receiver, split end, tail back and flanker, earning starting assignments at each position. The SEC s seventh leading all purpose yardage performer, he collected a total of 1,280 yards that campaign. 8 2ND ROUND DRAFT SELECTION (50TH OVERALL) JAVIER ARENAS DEFENSIVE BACK ALABAMA TAMPA, FLORIDA OVERVIEW Arenas ability to play inside the box is unique. As a starter, he made 63 plays vs. the opposing ground game, limiting ball carriers to 224 yards (3.56 ypc) and no touchdowns. In his last 27 games, he registered seven quarterback sacks, 17.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage and eight pressures. Those were the highest figures for any starting cornerback in the FBS ranks the past two years. He also posted 144 tackles, including 71 as a senior, the second highest total on the team. Including his performance in the 2010 BCS Bowl Championship Game, Arenas made countless game changing plays for the Crimson Tide. Since moving into the starting lineup at left cornerback as a junior, he intercepted six passes and deflected 18 others. The opposition completed just 65 of 154 passes (42.21 percent) targeted into his area during his tenure as a starter, good for 642 yards (9.88 yards per completion/4.17 yards per attempt) and just one touchdown. Prior to Arenas taking over left cornerback duties, the Tide ranked 48th in the nation in pass defense in 2007, allowing yards per game. During his junior year, they improved to 30th in the major college ranks ( ypg) and in his final campaign, Alabama ranked 10th nationally in pass defense ( ypg) and second in pass efficiency defense (87.67 rating). While his ball hawking ability and penchant for the big play are impressive, Arenas is also a skilled kickoff and punt returner. His 125 punt returns tied the SEC career record, gaining 1,752 yards, the second best total in NCAA FBS annals. His seven punt returns for touchdowns are an SEC career mark and rank second in major college history. As a kickoff returner, he ranks fifth on the SEC s career record charts with 90 attempts for 2,166 yards. His total of 215 kick returns (punts/kickoffs) rank second in league annals while his total of 3,918 yards rank second in NCAA history. His eight returns for touchdowns (seven on punts, one interception) also rank second on the major college record list and his average of yards on kick returns placed second among SEC players. Arenas became the 13th player in college history to gain at least 1,000 yards each on punt and kickoff returns. He is also the only major college player to ever generate over 1,500 yards on punt returns (1,752) and over 2,000 yards on kickoff returns (2,166) in a career. Providing his team with big plays in a variety of roles is nothing new for Arenas. While performing at Robinson High School, he scored 16 times as a senior, setting school season records as four of those scores came via punt returns and three more were the result of kickoff returns. Arenas was named U.S. Navy Player of the Week in 2005 and was chosen to the All Suncoast first team. In addition to football, he competed for the school s track team, performing in the 200 and 400 meter events. As a true freshman, Arenas was utilized strictly as a return specialist for Alabama. He earned Freshman All American honors from The Gridiron Report, as he scored twice on 31 punt returns for 286 yards (9.2 avg). He added 344 yards on 18 kickoff returns (19.1 avg), amassing 630 all purpose yards while appearing in all 13 games. Arenas averaged 15.4 yards via punt returns in 2007, then the second highest season average in school history, ranking seventh in the nation and second in the conference. He had 21 attempts, scoring once. He also added 657 yards on 27 kickoff returns (24.33 avg), ranking sixth in the SEC. He made 20 tackles (13 solos) with a pair of stops behind the line of scrimmage, as seven of his hits came on the kickoff coverage unit. 12 3RD ROUND DRAFT SELECTION (68TH OVERALL) JON ASAMOAH OFFENSIVE LINEMAN ILLINOIS PARK FOREST, ILLINOIS OVERVIEW The three year starter at right offensive guard has the mobility, balance, size, strength and quickness that National Football League teams crave in an interior line blocker. Despite the team s erratic offensive showing the last two seasons Asamoah was a model of consistency. In his last 24 games, he registered 187 knockdowns/key blocks, adding 24 touchdown resulting blocks and twelve downfield blocks. One of the elite pass protectors at his position, he allowed only four quarterback sacks and four pressures on 724 pass plays since the beginning of his junior campaign. With lofty performances that included blocking consistency grades of 85% or better in eight of his twelve 2009 contests, it was mysterious why he was only awarded with All Big Ten Conference second team honors during his senior year. It is obvious that the coaches voting for that all star team did not consult with their defensive linemen who had to battle the physical drive blocker in the trenches. Still, NFL talent evaluators took notice. Rated the second best offensive guard prospect eligible for the 2010 draft, he was one of three Illini to receive an NFL Scouting Combine invitation. Before arriving in Indianapolis, he was also invited to compete in the prestigious Senior Bowl. Asamoah attended Rich East High School, where he was a two time first team All South Inter Athletic Association Conference selection and helped the offense to gain over 3,100 rushing yards as a senior. He was an All State and All Area choice by the Chicago Sun Times, and an All Midwest Region pick by Prep Star. Asamoah received a two star prospect rating from Rivals.com. The two time Academic All State pick was a Wendy's High School Heisman Nominee for outstanding achievement in athletics, academics and the community. He also earned the Cook County Circuit Court Black History Award for academics and community service. In addition to lettering in football, he also lettered three times in basketball at Rich East High. Most of the Midwest colleges tried to recruit Asamoh, but he chose Illinois over Northern Illinois, Cincinnati, Bowling Green and Ball State. He originally committed to Northern Illinois, but reconsidered his choice after he received an offer by Illinois, as he always had a desire to play for head coach Ron Zook. In his initial year at Illinois, Asamoah was brought along slowly, as the staff was considering letting him red shirt. But, his solid performances with the scout team led to the coaches playing the freshman in five of the Illini s final six games, as he logged a total of 48 offensive snaps. Asamoah returned to claim the right guard position in 2007, starting all thirteen games. He was on the field for 991 offensive snaps, delivering 80 knockdowns, coming up with nine touchdown resulting blocks while leading the way for 2007 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year, Rashard Mendenhall, who rushed for 1,681 yards and seventeen scores that season. In his junior season, Asamoah was part of an offensive line that has helped the Illini rank first in the Big Ten Conference in passing ( ypg), second in total offense ( ypg) and third in scoring (28.67 ppg). He earned All Big Ten honorable mention while recording 92 knockdowns and nine touchdown resulting blocks, appearing in 852 offensive snaps and 30 more on special teams. Named to the 2009 Outland Trophy watch list, Asamoah added second team All Big Ten Conference honors from the league s coaches. He ran his consecutive starts string at right guard to 37 games, wrapping up his final season with 95 knockdowns and an 85.33% grade for blocking consistency. His fifteen touchdown resulting blocks were the most by a Big Ten interior blocker that season.

13 CAREER NOTES Asamoah started each of his final 37 games at right offensive guard During his time in the starting lineup, the Illini recorded 267 knockdowns/key blocks with 33 touchdown resulting blocks and seventeen blocks down field Since the start of the 2008 season, he allowed just four quarterback sacks and four pressures on 724 pass plays SEASON Member of the Outland Trophy Watch List Named All Big Ten Conference first team by The NFL Draft Report, adding secondteam honors from the league s coaches and media Selected to the National Football Foundation's 16 man Scholar Athlete team...earned CoSIDA first team Academic All District honors Academic All Big Ten first team choice Started all twelve games, extending his starting streak at right offensive guard to 37 contests Led the team with 95 knockdowns/key blocks, as his fifteen touchdown resulting blocks were the most of any interior lineman (guard/center) in the conference Registered seven downfield blocks Was charged with two penalties and allowed three quarterback sacks and a pressure on 331 pass plays Helped the Illini average yards in total offense per game, as the team ranked second in the Big Ten and 17th in the nation in rushing ( ypg) Recovered a fumble vs. Purdue SEASON All Big Ten Conference second team pick by The NFL Draft Report Started all twelve games at right offensive guard Registered 92 knockdowns/key blocks, along with nine touchdown resulting blocks and five blocks downfield while participating in 853 plays Part of an offensive line that has helped the Illini lead the Big Ten in passing, ranking 20th nationally with an average of yards per game The team also finished second in the conference in total offense ( ypg) and third in scoring (28.67 ypg) Was penalized just once, as he gave up a pair of assisted sacks and three quarterback pressures on 393 pass plays SEASON Asamoah took over right offensive guard duties, starting all thirteen games Participated in 991 offensive plays, as he recorded 80 knockdowns/key blocks with nine touchdown resulting blocks and five blocks downfield Part of a front wall that helped the Illini rank fifth in the nation in rushing, averaging yards per game The team also placed third in the Big Ten in total offense ( ypg), as the offensive line finished second in the conference and 15th in the nation in fewest sacks allowed (1.23 spg) SEASON Played in five of the last six games of the season at offensive guard, logging 48 plays with the second unit.
