The Gamecocks are in the midst of a grueling stretch of their OVC schedule facing the top three teams in the East Division, home and away, for six straight games. Today marks game number two. JSU trails the overall series with the Tigers, 11-15, but has found a great deal of success at home. Jax State beat TSU, 55-50, at The Pete last season in the most recent game between the two schools. JSU has won 10 of the 13 meetings that have been played in Jacksonville. They have just one road win in the series. The Gamecocks could be shorthanded in today s matchup, after a couple of players had to leave the court with injury on Thursday night. A big role will fall to senior Jeremy Watson and juniors Greg Tucker and Erik Durham, who have each had a 24-point or better game recently. Against Belmont, JSU shut down the most efficient 3-point offense in the league, forcing the Bruins to go 4-for20 from behind the arc. It was the seventh time this season the OVC s leading 3-Point defense has held its opponent to four or fewer threes. At 14-6, TSU is close to its best start in the program s Division I history dating back to The Tigers opened conference play 5-0, but have since lost two straight and enter today only two spots higher in the standings than JSU. 3 GAMECOCKS TOUGH AT THE PETE The Gamecocks went 11-3 at Pete Mathews Coliseum last season, securing their 36th season of.500 or better at home in 40 years in The Pete. The Gamecocks notched their best home record since , when they went 12-2 in the friendly confines of The Pete. James Green took over a program coming off back-to-back losing home records in and has had a winning home record in five of his seven seasons at the helm, with a.500 mark in his first year. THE PETE TAKES ON $2.4 MILLION FACELIFT Jacksonville State will play in a newly renovated Pete Mathews Coliseum this year. The venue, which opened in 1974, just completed a $2.4 million renovation that included a new playing surface, new seating, a new scorer s table and a team video room. The 15 regular season games in the coliseum this season are the most home contests for JSU since 2010 and ties for the second-most in the school s Division 1 history. 42nd YEAR IN THE PETE The Gamecocks have enjoyed tremendous success at Pete Mathews Coliseum since the facility was built over 40 years ago. JSU is a combined in the friendly confines since The Pete opened in the season. During that span, JSU has had only four losing seasons and two where it finished at.500 in home games. Under Green, the Gamecocks are at home and are against nonconference foes at home. JSU S TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE SLATE James Green s team didn t shy away from a difficult early season schedule. Of JSU s early losses, four came to squads who currently (Jan. 25) have a win percentage above (.600). (Virginia Tech 12-8, Winthrop 14-6, UAB 17-3, and Chattanooga 17-3). Another loss came on the road at Alabama (RPI 67) in overtime. And another to Jacksonville who sits third in the A-Sun standings. The junior from Springfield, Mo., made eight 3-pointers, just one shy of the school record. He was 10-for-16 shooting overall. The transfer from Lamar State in Texas, missed five games to an ankle injury and hadn t scored in double figures in any of his four games back since the injury. It was the second 30-point performance by a Gamecock this season, after Malcolm Drumwright did so 10 games earlier. TUCKER MAKING MOVES Playing more minutes in his last two games than he has in any game this season, junior Greg Tucker has scored 39 points (19.5 PPG), and shot 6-for 11 (55%) from 3-point range. DRUMWRIGHT DROPS 30 JSU sophomore Malcolm Drumwright set a new career-high scoring 30 points Dec. 5 vs Jasckonville University. His previous high came in the season opener with 26 points at Central Michigan. It was the first 30-point performance for a Gamecock in , and hadn t been done previously in 77 games since Tarvin Gaines scored 31 at Morehead State, Feb. 14, TUCKER GOES OFF AGAINST MOREHEAD Junior newcomer Greg Tucker had a career day at Morehead State on Jan. 24. The Charleston, Mo., native set a new scoring high with 24 points in the win over the Eagles. It was eight points higher than his prvious best of 16 against SIUE. He tied his career high with five field goals and set another personal best with11 made free throws, the most for any JSU player in a single game this season. WATSON HAS MONSTER DAY AT EKU JSU senior Jeremy Watson was 11-for-12 from the floor at Eastern Kentuckhy on Jan. 21. The Birmingham, Ala., native set a season best with 26 points, coming just two shy of his career mark. His three 3-pointers made was a career best. HAMILTON EARNS OVC FRESHMAN HONORS FOR SECOND TIME As the calendar turned over, JSU s Jared Hamilton s three-game span entering OVC play averaged 12.7 points along with 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists earned the Charlotte, N.C., native his second freshman honor by the league on Jan. 4 His first Freshman of the Week honor came after an mpressive opening weekend on Nov. 16. In his collegiate debut he went 8-for-12 from the floor with 16 points and followed that up with a 14-point, 13 rebound double-double two days later at home against Fort Valley State. It s the first Freshman of the Week honor for JSU since Darion Rackley in CUNNINGHAM POSTS FIRST DOUBLE- DOUBLE OF CAREER Freshman Christian Cunningham notched his first career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Chattanooga on Nov. 28 in Niceville, Fla., at the Emerald Coast Classic. It was the second double-double by a Gamecock so far in TUCKER NAMED OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK JSU junior Greg Tucker was voted as the Ohio Valley Conference s Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 27, following his then-careerhigh 15-point game against Northern Colorado during the previous. He grabbed five rebounds and was 3-for-3 in free throws. FIVE GAMECOCKS HIT DOUBLE DIGITS Twice this season, JSU has had five players scored in double figures in the same game. On Dec. 5 vs Jacksonville, Malcolm Drumwright scored 30 while Erik Durham had 13 followed by Jeremy Watson with 11. Greg Tucker and JaQuail Townser each had 10. Against Oakwood on Nov. 16. JaQuail Townser (17), Andre Statam (16), Jared Hamilton (12), Christian Cunningham (12), and Malcolm Drumwright (11) were the first group of five to reach double-digit points in Page 4 DRUMWRIGHT DISHES NINE ASSISTS... AGAIN...AND AGAIN It s now three times this season, sophomore Malcolm Drumwright has dished nine assists in a game. He came one assist shy of double figures in JSU s win at Morehead State on Jan. 24, reaching the same total he had in JSU s win over UT Martin on Jan. 16, and against Oakwood on Nov. 16. The nine assists are the most for a JSU player in a game prior to this season since Brian Williams had the same number on Dec. 17, 2013 against Central Michigan. It s been nearly 200 games since a Gamecock reached double-digit assists, when Dominique Shellman had 10 vs. Tennessee State, Jan. 21, GAMECOCKS HOT FROM 3-POINT RANGE IN CONFERENCE OPENER In the OVC opener on Dec. 31, 2015, JSU shot 58% from behind the arc making 11-0f-19 attempts against SIUE. It was the first time Jax State shot better than.500 from 3-point range since going 6-11 (55%) at Memphis back on Feb. 4, 2015 during the season. It first time shooting above.500 and making double-digit shots since hitting 11-of-21 (52%) threes at Chicago State on Nov. 12, JSU BLAZES FROM BEYOND THE ARC On Jan. 16 vs UT Martin, JSU drained 17 3-pointers, two shy of the school record. It was the most threes by the Gamecocks in a game since going 13-for-28 against Martin Methodist on Dec. 11, On Jan. 24, JSU shot 10-of-14 from long range in the first half at Morehead State before finishing the game 12-of-21 (57%). BOGAN S BIG DAY BACK HOME On Jan. 13, JSU played Southeast Missouri where four Gamecocks from the state of Missouri got to play in front of hometown fans. Freshman DelFincko Bogan from Charleston, Mo., scored a career-high seven points along with two assists and a steal in only 12 minutes off the bench. Missouri products scored 38 of JSU s 74 points in that game. TOWNSER TO MAKE 50th APPEARANCE Senior Guard JaQuail Townser s next game played will be his 50th as a Gamecock. The only only other two players with more games-played for JSU are Jeremy Watson (52) and Malcolm Drumwright (54). PUTTING IN THE TIME JSU sophomore Malcolm Drumwright currently ranks fifth in the OVC in minutes played averaging 33.7 minutes per game.

It s the seventh time JSU has allowed four or fewer threes this season, including games against: Belmont, UAB, Virginia Tech and Northern Colorado. It s also the 13th time an opponent shot lower than 30% from behind the arc, including games against: Alabama, Virginia Tech, Winthrop and Samford. HAMILTON SHINES IN DEBUT Freshman Jared Hamilton got the call to start in his first collegiate game for JSU in the Nov. 13 season opener at Central Michigan. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. JSU SCORES BIG VS OAKWOOD In JSU s win over Oakwood on Nov. 16, the Gamecocks made 39 field goals and dished out 24 total assists. On April 23, 2008, the University introduced James Green as the 10th head basketball coach in the school s rich and tradition-filled history. A 16-year veteran of the Division I head coaching ranks, Green took over a team looking to move towards the top of the Ohio Valley Conference after spending much of its first five years in the league towards the bottom of the standings. After a very successful career as an assistant at some of the most prominent schools in the nation, Green received his first shot at a Division I head coaching job in 1996, when Southern Miss tabbed him to succeed 20-year veteran M.K. Turk. Since that time, Green has put together a resume that includes two conference coach of the year awards, three conference titles and four postseason tournament berths. Green has led two programs at the nation s highest level to the NCAA Tournament and has done so as recently as in 2008, when he guided his Mississippi Valley State squad into the field of 64. Green came to Jacksonville State from Mississippi Valley State, where a three-year stint produced the 2007 Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season championship and the 2008 SWAC Tournament Title, an achievement that sent the Delta Devils to the NCAA Tournament for just the fourth time in school history. He took over the MVSU program in 2005 and after a building year in his inaugural season, he guided the Delta Devils to a 13-5 SWAC record in and the SWAC s regular season title. Green s squad put together an overall record with a schedule that featured the likes of Creighton, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Southern Cal and LSU. After guiding the Delta Devils to the school s second league crown in five years and trip to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT), Green was selected as the SWAC s Coach of the Year. One year later, Green s Delta Devils posted a 13-5 league record to finish second before rolling to the SWAC Tournament title, thanks to a nine-game winning streak that culminated with a win over Jackson State in the tournament s championship game. MVSU would travel to Anaheim, where they would face eventual Final Four participant UCLA. Prior to his stint at MVSU, Green spent eight seasons at the helm of the Southern Miss hoops program. In his career with the Golden Eagles, Green s teams posted a combined record and the school s first Conference USA title. Green took over a team that posted a record before his arrival and, within two seasons, led the Golden Eagles to a record and a trip to the NIT. The Golden Eagles would win 17 games in 2000, on year before their second 20-win campaign under Green in In that season, Green was tabbed by his peers as the C-USA Coach of the Year after guiding USM to a 22-9 overall record, an 11-5 conference mark, C-USA s regular-season crown and another trip to the NIT. Before moving to Southern Miss, Green served four stints as a Division I assistant, serving two seasons each at Idaho, Texas A&M, Alabama and Iowa State. As an assistant, Green was a part of five NCAA Tournament teams, two at Iowa State, one at Alabama and two at Idaho, who claimed back-to-back Big Sky championships in his two-year stint. Prior to moving into the college coaching ranks, Green took the reigns of a struggling program at Jim Hill High School in Jackson, Miss., and before his four-year stay was over, he received Metro Coach of the Year accolades and turned JHHS into the Mississippi State runners-up. Green is a 1983 graduate of Mississippi, where he earned his bachelor s degree in mathematics education. During an injury-plagued playing career with the Rebels, Green was a part of the 1981 SEC Tournament Championship team, and three NIT squads. Green has one son, Bryan. It started with JaQuail Townser sinking two of his career-tying four 3-point shots en route to his game-high 17 points. It finished with Andre Statam, a freshman from Cape Girardeau, Mo., bringing down one of his career-high seven rebounds to go along with 16 points, which was also a career high. Townser and Statam were two of five Gamecock players in double figures for head coach James Green. Jared Hamilton finished with 12 points, six assists and five rebounds in 25 minutes of game action. Christian Cunningham also had 12 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Rounding out the five some was Malcolm Drumwright, who has now scored in double digits in all three games this season, as he finished with 11 points and nine assists. It s the first time Jacksonville State had five players in double figures since Darion Rackley (24), Drumwright (15), Jamal Hunter (15), Avery Moore (14) and D.J. Felder (10) reached the mark earlier this calendar year on Feb. 14, 2015 against Tennessee Tech, which was a span of six games. Erik Durham added nine points and seven reboudns while Ed Jones, in his first collegiate action, had eight points in seven minutes. Greg Tucker and DelFinkco Bogan had five and four points respectively. The game was ultimately decided in the first half when the Gamecocks scored 53 points on 56.4 percent shooting from the field. The Jacksonville State men s basketball team started fast and took Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia Tech to the wire, but the Gamecocks fell to the Hokies on Wednesday night. James Green s young Gamecocks (2-2) opened the game with the hot hand to build an early four-point lead. They led the Hokies (1-1) by four until the fiveminute mark of the first half, when a 9-0 run stretched into the second half and gave them the lead for good. Jax State cut the deficit to two with 11:23 left and answered another run to pull to within three on an Erik Durham 3-pointer with 2:40 to play, but Tech converted from the line and off the offensive glass to hang on for the win. Four Gamecocks scored in double figures on Friday night, but the Jacksonville State men s basketball team fell at Winthrop The Gamecocks (2-3) held the Eagles (3-0) to 24 points below their season average but couldn t get over the hump down the stretch before time expired on their comeback efforts. Jax State got 15 points and six rebounds from junior Erik Durham, while sophomore Malcolm Drumwright added 10 points and six assists to go along with his four rebounds. Senior Jeremy Watson scored 13 points and had four boards, and senior JaQuail Townser scored 10 and dished three assists. The Gamecocks scored the game s first basket, a Drumwright runner, but Winthrop scored the next 10 to claim an eight-point lead. The Eagles would never relinquish that lead, taking a advantage into the locker room and answering every time JSU tried to cut it to single digits in the second half. Joshua Davenport came off the Winthrop bench to notch a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards, while forward Xavier Cooks led all scorers with 19 points on an 8-for-11 shooting night. The Gamecocks forced 14 turnovers and committed just 11, but the Eagles held a14-9 advantage in points off of those turnovers. BIRMINGHAM - Jacksonville State put a serious scare into UAB on Sunday afternoon at Bartow Arena, but the Blazers were able to do just enough to hold off the Gamecocks and escape with a win. Malcolm Drumwright and Jeremy Watson each scored 14 points to lead the Gamecocks (2-4), while Watson added seven rebounds in his hometown. The senior that prepped at Homewood High School scored eight in the second half, while Drumwright put in 12 in the final 20 minutes. The Blazers (3-1) got 23 points off the bench from Chris Cokley and used a big advantage in length to outrebound JSU and turn that into a advantage in the paint. Ladarius Tabb s 26-point performance gave the Bulldogs enough cushion to withstand a late second half rally by Jacksonville State to walk out of Pete Mathews Coliseum as winners. Rakiya Battle sealed the win with three free throw baskets in the game s last 12 seconds. With 56 seconds left, JaQuail Towner tied the game at 67, before Alabama A&M outscored the Gamecocks by four over that period. The Bulldogs were up after the first half, before JSU battled back. JSU erased what was once a 14-point deficit in the second half. Andre Statam missed the game-tying basket before Erik Durham missed another game-tying chance in the game s last 30 seconds. To go along with Tabb s performance, Battle and Nicholas West also added 13 points each. West brought down seven rebounds to Tabb s six. Erik Durham and Jared Hamilton scored career highs and the Jacksonville State men s basketball team held off a late Chicago State charge for a win to open the Emerald Coast Classic on Friday. Durham poured in 23, thanks to a 6-for-9 effort from behind the arc, while Hamilton scored 17 to lift the Gamecocks (3-5) over the Panthers (3-3) and into Saturday s bracket championship game against Chattanooga at 1 p.m. Hamilton led JSU with six boards, while Durham and sophomore Malcolm Drumwright each grabbed five rebounds. To go along with Durham and Hamilton s career highs in the points column, Drumwright added 14 while dishing six assists. The Panthers got 24 points from Kieran Woods and 17 from Elliott Cole. A back-and-forth game in the early minutes saw the Gamecocks pull away at the midway point of the half. They used a 10-0 run that stretched almost three minutes and gave them a lead with 6:15 left in the half. Freshman Christian Cunningham notched his first career double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, but Jacksonville State fell to Chattanooga in the championship of their Emerald Coast Classic bracket on Saturday. Cunningham set new career highs in points and rebounds and junior Erik Durham scored 17 points for the Gamecocks (3-6), but the Mocs (5-1) had just enough firepower to escape JSU s upset bid. Cunningham also blocked three shots for JSU, who got 10 points from his freshman counterpart Jared Hamilton. The Gamecocks leading scorer Malcolm Drumwright couldn t get it going offensively, going just 1-for-11 from the floor but dishing five assists. Justin Tuoyo led UTC with 14 points, while Casey Jones added 11. Durham was named to the Emerald Coast Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 20 points over two games that saw him go 10-for-16 from behind the arc. JACKSONVILLE - Malcolm Drumwright scored 21 to lead three Gamecocks in double figures, but Samford pulled off a win at Pete Mathews Coliseum in a renewal of JSU s oldest rivalry. In the 89th meeting but the first time since the season the two schools have met on the hardwood, the Bulldogs (6-2) were 28-for-32 from the free throw line to hold off a Gamecocks (3-7) rally. JSU got 14 apiece from freshman Christian Cunningham and junior Cam Biedscheid. Cunningham was 5-for-6 from the floor before sitting much of the second half with an injury. Biedscheid was 5-for-13 from the floor and 3-for-9 from behind the arc in 27 minutes off the bench in his JSU debut. The transfer from St. Louis, Mo., made his first collegiate appearance since his freshman campaign at Notre Dame. The Gamecocks took a lead with 4:58 remaining in the first half off a Drumwright 3-point basket, but that was the last time JSU held a lead in the game. Drumwright scored his 21 points before fouling out with 26 seconds left trying to bring his team back. Drumwright finished the contest with a career-high 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting, 5-of 8 from behind the arc and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. He also dished out three assist and had one rebound. Erik Durham added 13 points, Jeremy Watson had 11 while JaQuail Townser and Greg Tucker both had 10 points apiece. Townser brought down a team-high nine rebounds and dished out five assists while Durham had seven rebounds. Watson had five rebounds. JU s visit to Pete Mathews is the first time the Dolphins came to Jacksonville, Ala., since the season. It s the first time in eight games Green had five players score in double figures. Back on Nov. 16, 2015 against Oakwood, Townser had 17, Andre Statam added 16, Jared Hamilton chipped in with 12, and Christian Cunningham finished with 12 while Drumwright had 11 earlier this season. DelFincko Bogan added five points while Cam Biedscheid hit a 3-point basket for his lone points. For the Dolphins, Marcel White had 17 points, 10 of which from the free throw line, and a game-high 10 rebounds. JACKSONVILLE JACKSONVILLE Jacksonville State led over half of the game, but Alabama State made a late charge and held on for a win in Pete Mathews Coliseum. After leading for four seconds shy of 31 minutes, JaQuail Townser s 3-point shot attempt to tie the game was right of the rim resulting in the Gamecocks falling to Alabama State for the second consecutive year as the Hornets won by a final Alabama State didn t take the lead for the first time until Jamel Waters sank a jumper with 10:14 left in the second half. Cam Biedscheid answered right back with a jumper of his own to give JSU a 1-point lead less than 30 seconds later. However, Waters made another shot a minute and a half later to give the Hornets the lead for good. JSU got as close as one point with 2:12 left and then against with 14 seconds left, but could never get over the hump to take the lead. Head coach James Green and his team held a after leading the entire first half of play as a result of Jeremy Watson and Biedscheid s nine first half points. Malcolm Drumwright and Greg Tucker scored in double figures but the Jacksonville State men s basketball team dropped a road matchup at Loyola Marymount Friday. The Gamecocks (3-10) and Lions (7-4) exchanged blows early before a small LMU run created enough separation to pull away with the win. Tucker, a junior from Charleston, Mo., scored a career-high 11 points, despite a 2-for-7 night from the floor. He was 2-for-5 from behind the arc, while Drumwright went 5-for-13 en route to a 16-point outing. The Lions got 21 points and 11 boards from Adom Jacko, who went 8-for-14 from the floor and pulled down eight boards off the offensive glass. Steven Haney also scored 21 points and added eight rebounds, all defensive. The Lions shot 45 percent from the floor and held JSU to a 36 percent shooting night. JACKSONVILLE Jacksonville State got off to a fast start and then held off Northern Colorado for a win on Monday night at Pete Mathews Coliseum. The win was due in large part to a 21-of-25 (84.0 percent) shooting night from the free throw line, highlighted by sophomore guard Malcolm Drumwright s perfect 9-for-9 night from the line as part of his game-high 28-point performance. After Northern Colorado tied the game at 71 with 1:36 remaining in the game, Christian Cunningham s layup combined with two Drumwright free throws gave Jacksonville State a four-point lead with under 25 seconds left to play. The Bears got within two points of tying the score in the game s closing seconds, but two more Drumwright free throws along with two made free throws from Jeremy Watson helped sealed the Gamecocks fourth win on the season. The Gamecocks (4-11) seemed to throw everything it took to upend the Crimson Tide (8-3) on the road, but they couldn t overcome 18 turnovers and a free throw discrepancy that put a lopsided number on the scoreboard. Alabama went to the line 43 times and made just 28, but that would be plenty on a night that saw JSU shoot just eight charity shots. Jax State overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half and used a JaQuail Townser 3-pointer with 33 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime. The Gamecocks scored the first basket of the extra period but couldn t get another to fall, while Alabama took advantage of three JSU players fouling out and connected on all eight free throws in overtime to scape with the win. The Panthers (4-10, 1-1 Ohio Valley Conference) shot.704 from the floor in the final 20 minutes after making 17 of their first 23 shots in the half to pull away from the Gamecocks (5-12, 1-1 OVC). JSU struggled from the floor in the second half, shooting 10-for-28 and just 1-for-11 from behind the arc. JSU got 19 points from Malcolm Drumwright to lead a trio of Gamecocks in double figures. JaQuail Townser scored 15, 12 in the first half, and Jared Hamilton pitched in 12. Townser dished six assists, all in the first half. Turnovers were a nuisance for the Gamecocks in the loss, one that saw an uncharacteristic 17 turnovers for a team that entered the game averaging just 10.6 per game. EIU was led by Demetrius McReynolds 21 points, while Casey Teson added 14 in the win. The turnover bug bit the Gamecocks early, when they had seven turnovers and seven field goal attempts. A quick start by Austin Peay and Jacksonville State s early shooting struggles proved to be the difference in a Governors win on Thursday night at the Dunn Center in Ohio Valley Conference men s basketball action. The Gamecocks fell to 5-13 overall and suffered their second consecutive OVC setback to drop to 1-2 in the league. APSU moved to 8-9 overall and level in the conference at 1-1. The Govs opened the contest on a 20-8 scoring run that covered the first 10:16 of the opening half. The run was triggered by APSU s Chris Horton, who had three consecutive lay ups to push the lead to the 12-point margin midway through the first half. APSU extended the lead out to as many as 15 points on multiple occasions with the Govs holding a lead with just over a minute left in the half before taking a margin in to the halftime break. The Jacksonville State men s basketball team suffered a road setback to Ohio Valley Conference foe, Murray State, at the CFSB Center. The Gamecocks opened the contest jumping out to an 8-2 advantage over the Racers. Junior Greg Tucker hit a couple of early threes, while sophomore Malcom Drumwright added another as JSU held a five-point lead at the first media break. Drumwright was the only Gamecock to finish in double figures in scoring with a team-high 14 points. He was perfect from behind the arc going four-for-four. Tucker finished with nine followed by JaQuail Townser and Erik Durham who each had eight points. MSU took its first lead midway through the first half, but the game went backand-forth often before the Racers began to pull away from a tie late in the period. The Racers made a 9-2 run in just over a two-minute span fueled by consecutive dunks to create separation and enter the half with a lead. With 16:57 remaining in the second half, Drumwright added another of his four three-pointers for the night to draw JSU within six. It would be the closest the Gamecocks would get the rest of the way as MSU slowly increased its advantage into double-digits down the stretch. The Jacksonville State men s basketball team pulled away from Southeast Missouri early and cruised to a road win in Ohio Valley Conference play on Wednesday. The Gamecocks (6-14, 2-3 OVC) used an early 10-0 run to turn a one-point deficit into a nine-point lead and the Redhawks (2-15, 0-5 OVC) couldn t catch up. JSU got 15 points from Greg Tucker to lead a trio of Gamecocks in double figures. Senior JaQuail Townser added 13, while sophomore Malcolm Drumwright scored 11 and dished seven assists in the win. Durham, a junior from Springfield, Mo., made eight 3-pointers, one off the school record, and scored career-high 31 points to lead the Gamecocks (7-14, 3-3 OVC) on a night that saw 17 3-pointers fall through the JSU nets. The hot night from the floor paced JSU past a Skyhawks (10-9, 2-2 OVC) team that entered the day in first place in the OVC s West Division. JSU claimed its second win in a row and got back to.500 in league play with a performance that saw the Gamecocks outduel the Skyhawks in almost every statistical column. Jeremy Watson and the Jacksonville State men s basketball team gave Eastern Kentucky a run on Thursday but fell just short in a road loss at McBrayer Arena. Watson, a senior from Birmingham, notched his second double-double of the year with 26 points and 14 rebounds, but the Gamecocks (7-15, 3-4 Ohio Valley Conference) couldn t pull off their first win at the Colonels (12-9, 3-3 OVC) in their 12th trip. Watson was 11-for-12 from the floor to lead the Gamecocks and grabbed 10 of his boards on the defensive glass. Jacksonville State made the most of its extended stay in Morehead, Kentucky. The Gamecocks (8-15, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference) were snowed in for two days and had their road game at the Eagles (10-9, 4-3 OVC) pushed back a day after 8-10 inches of snow fell on the area Friday. They brought the heat to Johnson Arena from the opening tip and grabbed a road win. Erik Durham made his first six 3-point attempts and led the Gamecocks to a 10-for-14 first half from behind the arc to open a 20-point lead. JSU then held off several late MSU charges to grab its first win at MSU since 2012 and just the fourth in program history. Greg Tucker took over in the second half, scoring 13 of his career-high 24 in the final 20 minutes. JSU got double figures from four players in its third win in the last four games. Malcolm Drumwright scored 13 on a night in which he struggled early from the floor, but he made some key baskets down the stretch and dished nine assists for the second time in his last three games.
