McGraw ranks ninth all-time in career victories among Division I coaches. McGraw is also just one of four coaches (men s or women s basketball) in NCAA Division I history with over 890 wins, eight Final Fours and multiple national championships. The prestigious list includes Pat Summitt, Geno Auriemma and Duke men s coach Mike Krzyzewski. In September of 2017, McGraw took her rightful place among the game s elite when she was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, becoming the 32nd woman ever to do so and 13th female coach. Coach McGraw now boasts eight Final Four wins, third behind Auriemma and Summit, and the third most NCAA Tournament wins with 62. In the season-opening win over Harvard, Ogunbowale poured in 30 points while Shepard tallied 28 points. The combined 58 points marked the best duo performance of all Division I in the opening weekend of play. Individually, Ogunbowale s 30-point performance was the fifth of her career and two points shy of her career. high. The senior was 1-of-14 players to score at least 30 points in their respective season opener and 1-of-3 from the ACC. The duo were also the top-two point getters in game two vs. Penn, as Ogunbowale tallied 21 points, followed by Shepard s 17. The pair now rank 2nd & 3rd in the ACC in scoring and 16th and 38th in the nation, respectively. In Turner s first game back, she responded with an 11-point, 11-rebound, double-double. The second game had the same result in a double-double, this time earning 16 points, 10 rebounds. She s done a tremendous job with the freshmen. She s encouraging; she s really leading. She s always led by example, now she s doing it vocally. YET ANOTHER TOUGH SCHEDULE AWAITS With the release of the AP Top-25, it s official that the Irish will currently face a total of six ranked teams in its non-conference schedule in No. 2 UConn, No. 8 Oregon State/No. 10 South Carolina, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 13 Iowa, No. 15 DePaul and No. 19 Marquette. In fact, depending on how the Vancouver Showcase plays out, Notre Dame could potentially face three top-25 opponents in a row from Nov. 24-Dec. 2. Furthermore, the ACC will once again be a grind. Currently five other teams are in the top-25, with an additional three receiving votes. All the above should not be a surprise to Irish fans. Last year, Notre Dame had the No. 1 rated SOS and RPI, playing 16 teams who received a bid to the NCAA Tourney. PRESEASON ACC HONORS The Irish dominated the Preseason ACC honors with four of its starters occupying 10 of the All-ACC spots: Ogunbowale, Shepard, Turner and Mabrey. Freshman Jordan Nixon, who was a 2018 McDonald s All-American, was one of five players chosen for the ACC Newcomer Watch List. Lastly, Ogunbowale was picked by both the Blue Ribbon and the Coaches Panel for ACC Preseason Player of the Year. REPEAT? History will be against the Irish. In the NCAA era, only UConn ( ), Tennessee ( ) and Southern Cal ( ) have won at least two titles in a row. If the Irish were to capture their third national title, they would sit in sole third place, behind Tennessee s eight and UConn s 11. COACH MCGRAW RADIO SHOW RETURNS The Muffet McGraw Radio Show once again returns with five shows at O Rourke s Public House for the season. The five dates will be: Nov. 19, Dec. 17, Jan. 7, Feb. 4 and Feb. 26. Each show will take place from 6-7 pm and be broadcasted live from 96.9/92.1/103.1 Pulse FM, along with Facebook.com/FightingIrish and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish app. PHILLY HALL OF FAME Coach McGraw was welcomed home on Nov. 1, when she was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. McGraw, former 76er Allen Iverson, former Eagle Brian Westbrook and former Phillie Jamie Moyer highlighted the 2018 class. NEW ERA WITH ROLFS ATHLETICS HALL Notre Dame s new practice facility home, Rolfs Athletics Hall, boasts over 77,000-square feet of athletic training, strength and conditioning, practice courts and team offices for the Irish men s and women s teams. The teams have been able to use the practice courts since the start of October and the facility will be completed by December. RUNNING THE NAISMITH COACHING GAUNTLET The 2018 Werner Ladder Naismith Coaching Award committee might not have named Coach McGraw the winner, but she certainly had the last laugh over the three other semifinalists. In fact, Coach McGraw defeated Kelly Graves Oregon squad, Geno Auriemma s UConn team, then capped the stretch by knocking off Vic Schaefer s Miss State Bulldogs in the title game, making it a clean sweep. ICE...TWICE Never before in Final Four history has the same player hit back-to-back buzzer-beating, game-winners. Arike Ogunbowale channeled her inner Mamba Mentality and sunk both UConn and Mississippi State in last-second daggers, earning the Final Four s Most Outstanding Player award. Arike averaged 22.5 points during the Final Four. Arike s shots went viral, as the junior instantly appeared on ESPN, College Gameday, CNN, CBS, the Ellen Show and even Dancing with the Stars. Arike also landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Later tied at 58-all with seconds remaining in the game, Young in-bounded the ball to Arike and the rest was history. Notre Dame executed the largest comeback in NCAA Championship history, overcoming a 15-point deficit for the title. The previous mark was held by Louisiana Tech, who overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat Auburn in the 1988 title game. COMEBACK SPIRIT The 2018 Irish will forever be known as a comeback kids. From the Sweet 16 on, the Irish had to rally down at the half, and in three of the last four games, come back from a double-digit point deficit: - Trailed TAMU by 13 at 6:37 in 2Q - Trailed Oregon by 9 at 0:45 in 2Q - Trailed UConn by 11 at 1:46 in 2Q - Trailed MSU by 15 at 6:41 in 3Q It marked the first time in women s Final Four history that a team overcame double-digit points in both games to win a championship. Trailing at the 7:03 mark in the second quarter vs the Lady Vols, the Irish fought back to win The 23-point comeback surpassed the original mark of 18 set vs Duke on Nov. 26, The comeback tied for the fifth best all-time in Division I women s basketball and tied for the second largest rally over the last five years. It also marked the most of any Irish player, topping Ruth Riley s total of 139 in It was also the most since Brittney Griner s 136 points in Mabrey s 19 made three-pointers tied for the fifth most all-time in NCAA Tournament history and the most of any Irish player, topping Alicia Ratay s record of 17 in The Irish offense surged with 523 points in the Big Dance, which ranks fourth all-time and the best in

It marked the first time Notre Dame had two players each score over 25 points in a postseason game since Jewell Loyd (26) and Kayla McBride (25) vs Duke on 3/9/14. HUSKIE TAMER With Notre Dame s OT win over UConn in the National Semifinal, the Irish move to 4-3 all-time against the Huskies in the NCAA Tournament. The four wins stands as the most against UConn and doubles the next highest team. Now, when just looking at National Semifinal games, the Irish are 4-1 vs the Huskies and are 2-0 in Final Four overtime games. Overall, over the last 10 years, Notre Dame has defeated UConn eight times. Meanwhile, all other Division I teams have combined for just six wins. Furthermore, Notre Dame s 91 points were the most given up by UConn since relinquishing 92 to Tennessee (92-88 loss) in Knoxville on Feb. 1, NCAA HISTORY Notre Dame wrapped its 25th NCAA Championship in 2018 and 23rd in a row. Notre Dame is one of only four schools (Tennessee, UConn and Louisiana Tech) to reach six NCAA Title games. Their eight Final Four appearances are the fifth-most of any school behind Tennessee (18), UConn (18), Stanford (13) and La Tech (10). MARINA MAB(THREE) Heading into Columbus, Mabrey was certainly eying one of the greatest three-point shooting performances in NCAA Tournament history, sitting on 17 made three-pointers. Despite the fact that Mabrey hit two, albeit very important, treys during the Final Four, her 19 made three s tied for the fifth most in history, finishing three shy of the all-time mark of 22 set by Kia Nurse in Mabrey s 19 three s was the best Irish performance of all-time, topping Alicia Ratay s 17 in Mabrey s best NCAA game was a 25-point performance vs Texas A&M in which the junior converted seven treys, including five in the first half alone. The seven three s were the most by an Irish player in an NCAA Tournament game and the most overall since Alicia Ratay hit seven against Providence on Feb. 16, Overall on the year, Mabrey knocked down 85 three-pointers, which stands as the second most for a single season in ND history. SHEPARDING IN A DOUBLE-DOUBLE Jessica Shepard ended the year in what could arguably be the best stretch of her career, producing six double-doubles over the last eight games, which included a stretch of five straight. The last Irish player to achieve five consecutive double-doubles was Jacqueline Batteast, who did so from Dec Jan Furthermore, Shepard was one rebound away vs Oregon from setting a new program record of six straight double-doubles, recording 18 points and nine boards. Overall, Shepard produced 15 double-doubles on the year, which ranked second in the ACC, 36th in the nation and third most in Notre Dame history. To put into perspective, Shepard totaled 25 double-doubles over two seasons at Nebraska. Lastly, Shepard led the Irish in rebounding 22 times as her 8.1 rebounds per game ranked 7th in the ACC. Shepard s 5.0 defensive rebounds ranked 8th in the league while her 3.1 offensive rebounds ranked 5th. A TEAM FOR THE RECORDS BOOK The version of the Irish will not only be remembered as national champs but also as one of the best offensive teams in school history. The Irish averaged 85.1 points per game, which ranked second behind the team s 86.1 ppg. ND s scoring offense also happened to rank third in the nation. The Irish knocked down 1,248 field goals, taking over the top spot. Next, Notre Dame s.502 shooting percentage ranked fifth all-time at ND and third in the nation. Right in from them in second was the squad s.506, with the squad holding the top spot with.532. Furthermore, the Irish became the second team ever to lead the ACC in field goal percentage five years in a row, joining Duke s eight-year run from THE CLOSER AND THE STARTER There was no better fourth quarter performer in perhaps the entire country than Arike Ogunbowale. The Milwaukee native totaled 240 points in the final period, good for an average of 6.3 points on 53.5 percent shooting, including a 43.6 percent clip from three-point range. Ogunbowale reached double-digit points in the fourth quarter alone seven times this season, including a season best 14 points vs FSU in the ACC semifinals. Arguably the most notable one was against UConn in the National Semifinal, where Ogunbowale scored nine points in the fourth, followed by six points in the overtime period, including the go-ahead buzzer-beater. Ogunbowale s late scoring prowess played a major part why the team s best scoring quarter on the year was the fourth, totaling 827 points, 12 more than the next highest quarter (815 in 3rd). Now if Ogunbowale was known as the closer, than Jessica Shepard was definitely the starter. Shepard reached double-digit points in the first quarter alone on six separate occasions. The junior s best opening period performance was a 13-point effort at Pitt. BIG-GAME JACKIE The title says it all about sophomore guard Jackie Young. The Irish played 16 ranked opponents this season and in those games Young not only outperformed her season scoring average, but also ranked second among all Irish players in those games: Young averaged 16.6 points on 51.8 percent shooting, to go with her 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists against top-25 teams. ACC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS Since Notre Dame and Louisville tied atop the ACC standings at 15-1, both the Irish and Cardinals were named 2018 ACC regular season champions. For Notre Dame, it marked their fifth straight ACC regular season title and seventh straight when dating back to the final two years of the Big East. Seven straight regular season titles are the third highest active streak in the country, only behind Baylor (8) and Green Bay (20). Furthermore, five straight ACC regular season titles are one shy of the all-time mark set by Virginia from LEAGUE DOMINANCE The Irish are an impressive 77-3 against league schools since joining for the season (lone losses being Louisville on Jan. 11, NC State last season, Miami in ). 7

8 8 Notre Dame is 40-0 at Purcell Pavilion in ACC play, going 8-0 in , , , and now In fact, the Irish have never lost at home to an (active at game time) ACC team in Muffet McGraw s 30 years at the helm. The last time Notre Dame lost at Purcell Pavilion to a team representing the ACC was a setback against No. 20 Maryland on Jan. 10, When looking at conference play in general, Notre Dame is an impressive over the last now seven years (counting this season) and has won seven straight regular season conference titles (2 Big East, 5 ACC). HOME COURT ADVANTAGE Purcell Pavilion has become one of the toughest venues for opposing teams to play in. Notre Dame is all-time inside Purcell Pavilion. In addition, the Irish currently boast a 27-game win streak at home. The Irish have sold out Purcell Pavilion 52 times and boasts a 43-9 record in those instances, including winners of 34 of their last 38. Most notably, however, has been how dominant the Irish have been in league play at home. Notre Dame has won a school-record 50 consecutive home conference games, beginning with a win over Providence on Feb. 14, 2012, in BIG EAST play.
