1 PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE 2009 LACROSSE NOTES THE SETTING The Presbyterian College men s lacrosse team will partake in its third neutral site match of the year on Friday when the squad heads to Atlanta, Ga., to face off against Harvard at 8 p.m. It marks the last match that the Blue Hose will have before hosting their last home contest of the year on April 4. MORE FOR MINICK Against Bellarmine, Casey Minick put together an outstanding offensive display, tallying three goals on a mere six shots. Five of those shots were on frame for Minick. For good measure, he picked up two ground balls. TOUGH TRIO FORCES THREE TURNOVERS EACH A trio of student-athletes forced three turnovers apiece in the match against Bellarmine. Jon Athens, Tanner Gard and Blake Studstill put together tremendous contests while forcing nine turnovers. Dave Hahn didn t do so bad either, causing two in the contest. AN EXCELLENT FIRST HALF... The Blue Hose played a spectacular first half on March 17 against Manhattan. After getting behind 1-0 rather quickly, the defense stepped up, allowing just one more goal in the first quarter for a total of two in the first half. At the end of the first quarter, the teams were tied at 2-2. Then, in the second period, PC s Sean Mulford scored two unassisted goals, enabling the home team to take a 4-2 lead into the break. Mulford scored at the 3:29 mark to give the team a 3-2 advantage and added another with 37 seconds to play in the half for the two-goal lead. AWESOME ATHENS Goalkeeper Jon Athens put together a solid performance in the match against Manhattan. The Jaspers fired off 51 shots on the day with 10 of them reaching the back of the net. However, Athens stopped 21 shots by the visitors which gave PC a chance to win. Speaking of Athens, Andrew Athens had a pretty good day himself. Andrew tallied a goal and an assist in the match. Mulford leads the way with a team-high 10 goals. He has the team lead with six assists for a total of 16 points. Speaking of double figures, Mulford has already reached the double digit plateau for ground balls with 15. NOT LETTING HIS GARD DOWN Tanner Gard has recorded a team-best 16 caused turnovers, which is seven more than senior Drew Tobias. Gard has already scooped up 12 ground balls due to his tenacious credit.
