The match is set for Sunday, September 26th at 2:30pm in Torero Stadium. It will be the Toreros final game before starting conference play against the Portland Pilots. SERIES RECORDS: The Toreros have won five straight and hold an 11-7 all-time edge over Cal State Northridge. Last year, USD defeated the Matadors 3-1 on October 7th. THE MATADORS: Northridge currently holds a record. Last match, the Matadors held a 1-0 second half lead over #6 UCLA before losing 3-1. They are led on offense by Willie Sims with three goals and six points in five games. Northridge hosts UNLV on Friday before coming to play the Toreros. TORERO HONORS: Several Toreros were honored after taking the adidas Tournament title this past weekend. Ryan Guy was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. He also earned Most Outstanding Offensive Player honors for the tournament. Four other Toreros, Kevin Meissner, Eric Pohl, Lance Friesz and Scott Martin, were also named to the adidas All-Tournament team. SEAMUS MCFADDEN (26TH YEAR): USD Head Coach Seamus McFadden has entered his 26th season guiding the Torero soccer fortunes. Last season he directed the Toreros to a record, a final national ranking of 19th, and a second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. With last year's 1-0 win over UC Irvine, McFadden notched his 250th career victory and currently has a career record. Since 1990, he has guided the Toreros to eleven NCAA appearances, including a national runner-up finish in McFadden has also been named West Coast Conference Coach of the Year a record seven times (2000, '99, '98, '95, '94, '92, '86). GAME SIX- 2-0 WIN OVER MICHIGAN STATE: The USD offense controlled much of the match, outshooting the Spartans 25 to 7. Forward Ryan Guy scored both Torero goals and now leads the team with 8 points on the season. Scott Martin assisted on the first goal while Eric Pohl assisted on the second. Goalkeeper Lance Friesz turned away three shots, including back to back shots in the first half, to record his second shutout of the year and the tenth of his career. The two teams combined for 37 fouls and seven cards, including two ejections. Playing shorthanded the whole second half, USD took a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute when Andrew Ehrich scored his team-leading third goal of the year. Dartmouth tied the match in the 66th minute and neither team was able to find the net in the final 44 minutes of regulation and overtime, resulting in a 1-1 draw. WCC LEADERS: The Toreros lead the West Coast Conference in several categories, both as a team and individual. Forward Ryan Guy leads the conference in assists, assists per game, shots and shots on goal.
