DAYHA Weekly News Letter (Special Thank You to our team Mangers for writing our News!) Beginning of the hockey season through December 19, 2015 DAYHA Squirt C The Squirt C team is made up of 1-2nd year player and 12-1st year players. This is our first year for all of our coaches as well, Chad Bryngelson (1st year as head coach), Eric Engelmann and Brian Gilles (1st year assistant coaching). The boys have played a total of 23 games to date, 4 scrimmages, 6 district play, and 3 tournament games with an overall record of Ten of our thirteen players have scored a goal so far this season. We had our first tournament play in Wayzata of which the boys took 8th place. The boys have already improved a great deal since the start of the season and we couldn't be more proud of all of their hard work! A special thanks to the coaches and parents for your dedication and support to our boys. Our next home game is this Sunday (12/27) at 6:15pm against Hopkins. DAYHA Squirt B2 Orange The Delano Squirt B2 Orange team has had a great start to the season!! Our team is composed of qty 8 1 st year players and qty 6 2 nd year players. Through 7 games, we have 16 points in the standings. Which puts us under Orono and Armstrong Cooper White. So far this season, Vincent Cappelleri has had qty 3 hat tricks, Dominic Lucarelli has had one hat trick, and Isaac Rousu has had 3 assists. Every player on our team has either had a goal or an assist. We placed 7 th place in our tournament in Hermantown the weekend of December 11th. The first game we lost to Hermantown Gray. The second game was a good match and we just couldn t quite hang on. We lost to Coon Rapids 6-3. Game #3 was our win! We beat Chisago Lakes 3-1. While we were in Hermantown we got the chance to tour the Amsoil Arena in Duluth. The boys toured the locker rooms, training rooms, study areas, etc. It was eye opening for the boys. The boys bonded at the pool and a great time was had by all. The season so far has been a great success.

DAYHA Squirt B2 Black Squirt B2 Black has had a fun season so far! Our first tournament was out of town in Alexandria, the first weekend in December. The team bonded at the swimming pool, playing knee hockey at the hotel, eating lunch at Raapers Eatery, and of course, on the ice! They lost their first 3 games that weekend, but they played hard and were only down a point or two each game. For their final game, they came out scoring and our goalie (Matthew Krueger) had his first shutout game of the season! The boys started out with a few loses, but as they are learning more about each other, they are becoming a stronger team each and every game! We look forward to a great season with a wonderful group of players and parents! More recently, the coaches learned that the Miss Universe Pageant can attract as much or more of the boy s attention as Sunday Night football when walking through the lobby after practice! DAYHA Squirt A The Squirt A team is off to a great start this season. With assists from Josh Groff and Jake Oja, Cade Bruett managed the first hat trick of the season against MAML. While the boys have been working hard on their shots and skating, goalie Drew Dorsey has been working up a sweat in the crease. His efforts paid off last week, when he got his first shut-out against the Minneapolis Storm. The players are developing endurance and getting stronger, between practices both on and off the ice, with the rumor that the "icky shuffle" is a definite highlight! The coaches are doing a great job, as we notice that the boys are really enjoying the season and learning so much. We are looking forward to our game next week against Osseo-Maple Grove. Go tigers!! DAYHA 10UB The 10UB girls are having a tremendous season, remaining undefeated through 5 district games and 1 tournament! The girls worked very hard in the off season and their improvement shows in their performance on the ice. Some special highlights from the season to date 1. Kayla Simonson had a hat trick and a shutout in the Alexandria tournament, 2. Alex Von Holtum has scored a hat trick in 4 of the 5 district games to date, 3. Other teammates scoring hat tricks during district games Ava Reierson (1), Brooklyn Gillette (2) The coaching staff shared a clip with the girls titled Fail Harder and the team has adopted it as their theme for the year. You can check it out on YouTube! Stay tuned for more updates about the team!!

DAYHA Peewee C To sum up the season so far for the PeeWee C team, Gavin St. Cyr has had a hat trick, Alex Mika with a playmaker s award, we have a first time skater on the PeeWee C team Nathan Fleischhacker and he scored his first goal our second game of the season. Max Moonen with a goal for the season, Leyton Udstrand scored two goals during our third game of our tournament. It has been a very exciting team to watch so far this year, cannot wait to see what else they can do during the season. DAYHA Peewee B2 The Delano Pee Wee B2 is composed of 5-2 nd year and 12-1 st year players. Through Sunday 12/20/15 their overall record is and is currently on a 1 game winning streak with a 9-0 win over LDC, with Aidan Stigman getting his first shutout of the year, Nate Hanson and Kurtis Schumacher both getting hat tricks, and Andy Pitt recording 3 assists. They placed 4th in the Woodbury Rumble Tournament with Nick Lucking recording 2 goals and 2 assists in one game. Everyone has contributed to the team so far with either assists or goals or both. Olive Sturman has a shutout over Armstrong Cooper 4-0 and Gabe Jucha got a hat trick against Hutchinson. They have a few league games and a scrimmage over Winter Break before heading to Hermantown for a tournament. DAYHA Peewee B1 Delano PWB1 Team Starts Strong The Delano PWB1 team is off to a good start to the campaign. Their team highlight to date has been winning the championship in the Delano Crow River Shiver in early December outscoring their opponents 18-4 in the three-game tournament. Another quality win was against a strong St. Cloud B1 team with Chad Halstead leading the way with a hat trick on Dec. 20. Coach Steve Farniok is pleased with the progress his team has made. It s been a fun year being competitive in all the games, Farniok stated in a phone interview in between film sessions with his asst. coaches Mark Peterson, Cory Lommel and Johnny Mercil. Mercil doubles as the team s waterboy, benefitting from the new filtered water system at DASA. It s very high quality H20, Mercil said, stealing a line from Bobby Boucher, America s most famous waterboy. On the ice, we celebrate the assist as much as the goal, said Farniok, who believes that at the PeeWee level, kids should be rotating positions and learning the game, not just playing one position. Offensive balance, depth, defense and goaltending have been keys to the team s success. The PWB1ers are yielding only 2.67 goals against while scoring 3.6 goals per contest. Every position player has scored at least one goal and 10 have been credited with seven or more points (goals and assists). Netminders Adam Schultz and Tommy Huotari have both posted shutouts and have been seen standing on their heads --even on their lips at times. The kids are learning the game the right way, looking to set up their teammates and playing as a team, stated Farniok. We look forward to continue building on our first half success.

DAYHA Peewee A To get caught up since the season started, here is a few things to share about PeeWee A. First off, I d like to share with everyone that we have an amazing group of kids, parents and 4 awesome coaches that are VERY dedicated to these kids! Thanks for all your time guys we sure appreciate all you do for our boys: Coach Williams, Coach Hargarten, Coach Miller, and Coach Pettit. We ve had one tournament in Fargo, ND & played 10 district games so far with having a nice win against Orono and our toughest team being Mound Westonka. We ve had a few losses and a tie in there too, but most games have been competitive. We played Wayzata this Sunday and had another tie of 2/2 what a fun game to watch. Unfortunately, we had a couple players with injuries early in the season, but we have also had a few players that are starting out their season well with getting a Hat Trick: Craig Halonen, Anders Peterson & Colin Pettit. Will Scheck & Jack Keranen have also done well with getting a Playmaker during one of our tournament games and our Goalie Colin Rowbotham had a shut- out vs Rogers during one of our scrimmages. Great job boys & keep having fun playing the game!! Till next time. Merry Christmas everyone! DAYHA 12UB Girls Hockey in Delano is continuing to get better across all levels. The U12 team is no exception. So far this season the girls are undefeated in District 3 play with a record of 6 wins & 2 ties. This is really a great group of girls who have found a special friendship on & off the ice. This really contributes to the overall team development so far this season. For many of these girls, this will be their last year of youth hockey before they transition into our new High School program. It s great to see them gaining some confidence, and continued growth in understanding the game. There has been a lot of success between the pipes this year, Claudia Schmidt & Maria Manual have been splitting games and together they have 4 shutouts. Mary Beth Kivisto has been solid on the blue line, and her level of play has inspired the whole team to work harder. Forwards this year are led by Grace Daly & Sydney Stansberry who continue to find goals at key times. The rest of the team, have all contributed to our success so far. Again this year we have the Tiger Hockey Hard Hat, each game one player is awarded the hard hat for their performance on the ice. Girls get excited about it and can t wait for the announcement after each game. Coming up we have our Alexandria Tourney and a lengthy run of homes games so looking forward to the rest of the season. HS Girls update: Next home game is Tuesday night vs Sartell in Buffalo with JV starting at 5 and Varsity at 7. Happy Holidays!!!

DAYHA Bantam B2 The Bantam B2's are comprised of 6 second year players (Joe, Blanchard, Sam Brown, Max Fremling, Thomas Johnson, AJ Ragan and Jack Russell) and 10 first year players (Elliot Anderson, Kory Dunnigan, Ryan Fleishaker, Tad Jurek, Gavin Leaver, Nathan Luekauma, Jake Marciniak, Brady Mercil, Soren Peterson and Casey Schmidt). They are coached by Cody Kielsa, Joey Jackson and Bryan McCallum. Team Manager is Karen Johnson. The Bantam B2's have played 6 district games so far, they have lost 5 and won 1. The Bantam B2's participated in the Spud Classic in Moorhead, MN December 4th - 6th. It was a fun weekend for both the players and the parents. After losing their first game to Maple Grove White, they came back winning 3 in a row to win the consolation game against Fargo 3 to 0. Goalie Elliot Anderson had a shutout and Joe Blanchard had a Hat Trick in the consolation game. The Bantam B2's rang bells for the Salvation Army red Kettle Campaign on Saturday, December 19th. Coach Cody Kielsa set-up the event and the entire team assisted in ringing bells to raise money for a good cause. The Bantam B2's next game is Tuesday, December 22nd at Parade South against Minneapolis Storm - Black. DAYHA Bantam A Meet the Bantam A Team: Goalies: Aaron Kruse, Cade Lommel Players: Adam Brown, Chuck Campion, Quinn Daly, Garrett Durst, Chase Halonen, Mark Halonen, Tommy Peterson, Garret Pinoniemi, Dalton Shereck, Ryan Staunton, Lucas Truax, Ethan Underhill, Michael Weber & Hogan Williams. Coaches: Lance Reynolds, Anthony Reynolds & Nick Vatsndahl Team manager: Heidi Staunton The Bantam As are off & skating with the Hockey season. We kicked off the season with a Princeton Bantam A Scrimmage jamboree in October, consisted of 4 scrimmages over a weekend against teams from Blaine, Champlin, St Louis Park and Rogers. Great opportunity to play teams outside of D3 and see how we work as a team. D3 Games started in early November, the season began with a win against Minneapolis Storm, followed up with scrimmages/ongoing D3 games and a December Moorhead tournament. The team will travel to Hastings in January for a weekend tournament, will be taking on teams outside of D3. All in the all the team continues to push forward with the season, injuries/sickness is currently impacting the team, hopefully with a holiday break from school the players will be able to recover and rejoin the team for the second half of the season. Check out the Calendar for upcoming games/scrimmages head to the rink and cheer the Bantam As on.

DAYHA 15UA MN Hockey moved from a 14U to a 15U league this year, which made it easier for Delano to field a girls team to compete and prepare for a Delano Girls High School team for next season. The team includes five eighth graders: Grace, Courtney, Annika, Meghan, Chloe; five ninth graders: Raychel, Emily, Anna, Leah, Anna; and three tenth graders: Emma, Grace, Jordan. These thirteen girls have worked hard to improve skills and learn how to play with each other in order to be able to battle on the ice with a range of competition at the 15U level. Our first tournament at Hermantown resulted in a championship trophy with a 2-1 win over the tough host team - Proctor/Hermantown Mirage, 3-0 win vs. St. Cloud, and 6-5 win over Northern Lakes. Lots of fun team building time in Duluth was had by all. District 3 and District 5 have combined at this level for league play which makes for good competition. Currently we are 3-2 in league play. This weekend we played in our second tournament at Buffalo taking home 2 nd place with wins to St. Cloud and Elk River/Princeton and a loss to a strong, physical Anoka/Rogers team. DAYHA Junior Gold This year's Jr Gold team is made up of a mix of players from Delano, Rockford, Mound, and Watertown. Rick Ragan and Rob Glasrud are returning to coach the team again this year. Players are: The team started the season on December 11th losing their first game to Elk River 4-9. They came out on top winning their second game at STMA 7-2. They had a tough 3 games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday December 16th, 17th, and 18th losing all 3 games to Buffalo with a score of 2-6, Eden Prairie 0-6, and Wayzata 0-9. They are hoping to have better success with their upcoming games against Edina, Orono, and Burnsville and are looking forward to their first tournament during winter break.
