DeBree s strike garnered national attention, as it landed at No. 6 in SportsCenter s Top 10 Plays. Just Keep Winning, Just Keep Winning After defeating Boston College 2-1 on Thursday, Duke women s soccer extended their program record winning streak to 15-straight matches. During the streak, Duke has defeated four ranked opponents, shut out 10 foes and went 2-0 at its home tournament for the first time since Conference Dominance The Blue Devils have not just won a program best 15-straight games, they ve also started a perfect in conference play, defeating Virginia Tech, No. 18 Notre Dame, Pitt, Louisville, NC State, No. 16 Florida State, Miami and Boston College. The hot start to conference play is the best in school history, besting the original mark of set in The eight wins also tie for the most in a single season in school history, matching the 2011 DWS squad s mark.

7 Early Goal Emphasis Heading into the Florida State contest, head coach Robbie Church put a heavy emphasis on scoring within the first 15 minutes of play and his squad responded. Prior to that game, Duke had just one score within the first 15 minutes, but since then Ella Stevens (2:37 vs. Florida State) and Taylor Racioppi (3:35 at Boston College) have netted early goals. A majority of Duke s 38 goals have come in the early portion of the second half, as the Blue Devils have tallied nine in the 45:00-60:00 stretch. 22 of Duke s scores have come in the second half. Perfect Year At Koskinen With last Sunday s win, the Blue Devils finished the regular season with a home record. That mark currently stands second in school history in single-season home wins, four away from tying the all-time record of 14 set in No Shots For You The Blue Devils put together one of the most dominating defensive showings in school history last week, as they shut out Miami, 3-0, and held the Hurricanes without a shot. That is the first time Duke has held an opponent shotless since Aug. 29, 2003, when the Blue Devils defeated Campbell, 6-0. Set Em Up, Shut Em Down There have been a number of storylines to this year s Duke women s soccer squad, but one of the best has been the play of the Blue Devil defense. On the year, Duke has allowed just eight goals, outscoring opponents 38-8, and has posted 10 total shutouts after the Miami win. Over the last 10 matches, the Blue Devils have outscored foes 26-4 and shut out seven opponents, including picking up four ranked victories. Duke leads the ACC with a.625 shutout percentage and a.495 goals against average, which stand 14th and 16th in the NCAA, respectively. The Blue Devils have kept the performance going strong through ACC play, as they have earned clean sheets against six of their eight conference opponents. That mark is tied for the second most in program history. Goals On Goals On Goals The Blue Devils continue to dominate on the offensive side of the ball as well, tallying two goals on Thursday for their 14th multi-goal match of the season. Duke has scored 38 goals, which leads the ACC and is 15th in the NCAA. Ten Blue Devils have scored this year, showing the array of weapons coach Robbie Church has at his disposal, led by senior Imani Dorsey (9 goals) and junior Kayla McCoy (8 goals). Proctor Nearly Flawless Between The Posts It was an easy day at the office for EJ Proctor last week, as Duke shutout Miami 3-0 while holding the Hurricanes to no shots. She has been solely responsible for seven of Duke s 10 shutouts this year, putting her career total at 28, which is two behind Tara Campbell ( ) for third in Duke history. On the year, Proctor leads the ACC in goals against average (.484) and is tied for lead in shutouts (7), while standing 18th and 23rd in the nation. She is also tops in the conference with a.829 save percentage. Shutting It Down In September To say that the Blue Devils enjoyed the month of September would be a bit of an understatement. Duke went 8-0 during the month, including wins against three ranked opponents (4-0 at No. 3 WVU; 2-1 vs. No. 21 Utah; 3-0 at No. 18 Notre Dame). Church s squad was lights out on defense in that stretch, outscoring opponents 20-3 and shutting out six opponents, with five of those coming from senior EJ Proctor. The stretch marked the first time in school history that the Blue Devils have swept through the month of September with a perfect record. Proctor Moving Up The Record Book Senior EJ Proctor continues to make moves in the Duke career record book. Proctor has a GAA of 0.73, which is tops in school history, while her 28 shutouts put her two behind third place. No More Drought Against Louisville Before the match on Sept. 29, neither Duke or Louisville had ever tallied a goal in the previous four meetings. Four matches, four ties, presenting one of the most unlikely trends in the sport. That all ended that Friday, as Duke captured the first win in series history with a 3-2 victory. The only constant that remains? It took two overtimes to capture the win, continuing the streak that none of the five meetings between the two teams have ended in regulation. Burns Continues PK Excellence Junior Chelsea Burns continued her streak of PK excellence against Virginia Tech, putting one into the back of the net just before the half to secure her third game-winning goal of the season. The Jacksonville, Fla., native is now 4-for-4 this season on penalty kicks. Blue Devils Reel In Weekly Awards Another successful weekend meant a number of awards coming in for the Blue Devils. For her shutout performance at No. 3 West Virginia and season-high five saves to go with it, senior EJ Proctor was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. It s the third weekly honor of the Wilson, N.C., native s career, as she earned DPOTW honors Sept. 1, 2015 and Oct. 11, Fellow senior Imani Dorsey also pulled in some accolades, as for the second time in as many weeks she earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com s Team of the Week. She also was recognized as the Duke Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts on the field, which included the game-winning goal against the third-ranked Mountaineers. Most recently, Schuyler DeBree was tabbed ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 10 after a pair of shutouts, while Ella Stevens earned her first TDS Team of the Week honor of the year that same week. First Meetings, First Wins With the win against Utah, the Blue Devils have swept all three of their first-time opponents for the 2017 regular season. 8 Monday Night Thriller At Koskinen With their backs against the wall and less than 15 minutes remaining in the match, the Blue Devils mounted a big-time comeback to take down No. 21 Utah, 2-1. A goal at the 48:56 mark gave the Utes a 1-0 lead and had Duke trailing in a contest for the first time this season. Then the clock hit the 82nd minute and everything changed. On a beautiful cross into the box from Taylor Mitchell came a Kayla McCoy header into the back of the goal that tied things up at 1-1. The junior s third goal in the last two games had everyone thinking overtime until 45 seconds later. There Rebecca Quinn fought off Utah defenders and caught the keeper sleeping with a rocket shot from about 25 yards out to give the Blue Devils the 2-1 lead it needed to capture victory. Dorsey s Brush With History Senior Imani Dorsey reeled off one of the most impressive stretches in the early stages of the 2017 season. Dorsey earned a point in each of Duke s first seven matches, including a scoring a goal in six-straight contests. Her goal-scoring streak tied a school record set by Casey McCluskey in Snapping Streaks In Morgantown Friday night s shutout win in Morgantown did more than give the Blue Devils revenge for a pair of losses last season, including a heartbreaker in the NCAA quarterfinals. Duke also delivered West Virginia its first home loss in regulation since Aug. 29, 2014 (43-straight match streak), when the Blue Devils shut out the Mountaineers 2-0. Goal No. 1 For McDonald Junior Kat McDonald is known for her heart, hustle and grind on the field. Friday night she added goal scoring to the list. The Raleigh, N.C., native tallied her first-career goal in Duke s 4-0 win at West Virginia with a running shot from just outside the 18 at the 37:44 mark. The G.O.A.T. Captures Win No. 200 Duke s win versus UNCW was more than just a mark in the win column for the Blue Devils. The victory gave head coach Robbie Church his 200th victory as the boss of Duke women s soccer, a career that spans over 17 seasons with 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and two NCAA Finalist nods. With the win, Church becomes the sixth active ACC coach to capture 200 victories at his or her respective school. Gibbons Closing In On #NCAAWOTY award Former Duke standout Christina Gibbons moved another step closer to the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award, as she was named one of the Top 30 honorees for the award. A former NSCAA First Team All-American, Gibbons now waits for the top 30 will be paired down to three from each division, with the overall winner announced Oct. 22 in Indianapolis. Burns Nets The GWG (Again) For the second time in as many matches, a Chelsea Burns PK conversion was the difference. Burns penalty kick at the end of the first half gave the Blue Devils all they needed, as Duke went on to a 2-0 victory against Bucknell for its second-straight win. Burns also collected a penalty kick score at Old Dominion, putting her at 3-for-3 this season on PK s. Dorsey s Xavier Goal Named A Top Play In the final seconds of the Blue Devils 3-1 victory against Xavier, senior Imani Dorsey took possession on the Duke half of the field and made a run to the left side of the box, finishing with a beautiful shot over the goalie to give the Blue Devils their third goal. That play was named one of NCAA Soccer s top plays from opening weekend, which they announced Tuesday morning on social media. Revisiting 2016 Last season saw the Blue Devils reach the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons, while advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals or better for the fifth time in the last six years. Most of the defense that posted 11 shutouts last year comes back for the 2017 campaign. The Blue Devil defense allowed just 16 goals over 23 games, a 0.63 goals against average that finished fourth in the ACC and 20th in the nation. That average also finished as the fourth-best average in school history. Offensively, Duke reeled off 47 goals, good for second in the league and 20th nationally. The Blue Devils also paced the ACC and stood 11th in the country with 150 points, while their 6.52 points per game clip was second in the conference and 16th in the NCAA. A bulk of that firepower returns for the 2017 season, including 2016 All- ACC selections Ella Stevens (10 goals) and Imani Dorsey (7 goals), as well as Taylor Racioppi (11 points in 11 matches). Looking Back at 2016 NCAA Tournament Run... Duke advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship last year behind a 3-0 win against Charlotte, a 3-1 victory versus Illinois State and a 1-0 win against Northwestern. It marked the third time in history the Blue Devils posted three or more goals in the opening rounds of the tournament. Toni Payne was on fire with three goals and two assists for eight points, while Ella Stevens notched two goals and two assists for six points. Four different Blue Devils scored over the tournament run, while Duke totaled five of its seven goals in the second half. Duke allowed only seven shots over the first three games of the 2016 NCAA Tournament, which is the fewest allowed by its defense to start a tournament. It is the only time Duke has held three consecutive tournament opponents to three or fewer shots. Starters Returning A number of familiar faces from the 2016 season return this year, as head coach Robbie Church brings back 10 starters and 24 total letterwinners. The 10 returning starters include: Sr. M/F Imani Dorsey (22 starts, 7 goals, 7 assists, All-ACC) RSr. D Rebecca Quinn (Redshirted 2016; Canadian Olympian) Sr. M Ashton Miller (20 starts, 3 goals, 3 assists) Sr. D Morgan Reid (18 starts, 11 shutouts on defense) Jr. M Taylor Racioppi (11 starts, 3 goals, 5 assists, injured in 2016) Jr. F Kayla McCoy (7 starts, 4 goals, injured in 2016) So. Newcomers Arrive For 2017 Season With the arrival of preseason also comes the arrival of the new crop of Blue Devils, as eight new freshmen began their Duke careers. The 2017 class continued head coach Robbie Church s dominance on the recruiting trail, as the class finished ranked sixth in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com. Along with the freshmen, redshirt freshman keeper Brooke Heinsohn will debut, as she missed the 2016 campaign while playing with the U.S. U-20 women s national team.
