1 OCTOBER Montgomery County 4 H Chief Sheet PHONE: Et. 3 FAX: National 4 H Week is our time to SHINE! This is the time when 4 H ers across the nation work etra hard to showcase what they have gained from their membership in 4 H. Two events that take place during National 4 H Week are: National Youth Science Day AND One Day 4 H. 4 H ers are encouraged to celebrate by taking part in the above activities, or by doing something individually. Wear a 4 H t shirt to school. Pass out brochures. Talk to your friends about 4 H. If clubs or members plan to have a 4 H booth at a school fair or other community event, please contact the 4 H Office so we may provide you with 4 H flyers or other promotional items. One Day 4 H OCTOBER 2 8, 2016 One Day 4 H will be Saturday, October 8th. One Day 4 H is one day for all of the members, parents, leaders, and volunteers to step out into their communities and say thank you by giving back to them for over 103 years of support of 4 H in Teas. This day of community service is whatever each 4 H member, club, or county program decides to make it. This year we are promoting the Louisiana School Supply Drive. Clubs and members can drop off items at the Etension Office beginning October 3rd through October 13th at 12pm. To help clubs avoid shipping charges, Matt Schiel has graciously volunteered to deliver our collected supplies to the LSU site. Let this be a challenge to fill that truck! Annual 4-H Pecan Sale Fundraiser Club Pecan orders are to be collected at the October meeting, and turned in to the 4 H office by October 20th. Club leaders should have their orders totaled and balanced before bringing them. These funds go directly back to you in the form of educational programs, registration fees, equipment, and curriculum, so the more you sell, the more you have! 6 TRACTOR SUPPLY PAPER CLOVER CAMPAIGN October 5 16, Each spring and fall, Tractor Supply sells paper clovers for $1 to support 4 H. A portion of the funds raised from this campaign directly support the county 4 H program. In fact, the county 4 H Finance Committee has created a grant for clubs and individuals funded fully by this campaign. Contact the 4 H Office for a copy of the application. In Montgomery County, we have Tractor Supply stores in Conroe, Magnolia, Porter, and Willis. History has shown that any time 4 H ers have a presence in the stores during the campaign, more paper clovers are sold. We would like to make sure there is an even spread throughout the campaign, rather than have all groups meet at the same store, on the same day. If an individual, club, or project group would like to participate in the paper clover by passing out promotional brochures, setting up a craft booth, and/ or telling customers about the 4 H program, please contact the 4 H Office, then make plans to contact the store manager about your participation. When you went to your first 4 H club meeting, did you feel overwhelmed by what appeared to be controlled chaos? Some adult and a bunch of kids at the front of the room were talking about projects, deadlines, tag ins, 4 H Connect and a dozen other words that had no meaning to you. Did you wonder if they were speaking another language? Join us for the insider information, in a class designed to decipher the 4 H jargon and help you get the most out of your 4 H career. Whether it is your 1 st year or 3 rd you will get something to help make your transition into 4 H easier. RSVP online at : sign up/ or by calling Et. 3. If there are less than 10 registered the class will be canceled. We will start at 6:30 p.m. and end by 8:00 p.m. GET THE 4-H SCOOP!
