2 ... Greetings from my untidy office desk! As I gear up for another major stock show season I can t help but be excited and anxious for all my families who give up so much time to hit the open road in hopes of bringing home a ribbon, banner and a buckle. The National Western has come and gone and as I start to consume my mind with major shows I like to learn interesting facts about each show. Interesting fact # 1- did you know that the average size of a fat steer at the National Western jumped from 40 inches tall in the 1960 s to nearly 60 inches tall in the late 1970 s? Today the National Western hosts a variety of breeds from around the world. My first major show stop will be the legendary Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo (probably my favorite). Interesting fact # 2- before changing its name in 1987 to Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, Ft. Worth was known as Texas Fat Stock Show and admission was only 25 cents. My, how times have changed. I am looking forward to watching all of my kiddos and traveling across the big state of Texas again this year. Good luck to all the Dallam & Hartley major stock show exhibitors and see ya down the road! Shelby STOCK SHOW STOCK SHOW CHECKS/ADD-ONS 4-H FARM CLEAN OUT MAJOR STOCK SHOW Bi-County Stock Show sale checks will not be available until April 1, As of last week, Bi-County Stock Show Board was receiving additional add-ons. Be watching for an from our office notifying you that add-on lists are available.
