Any volunteers directing traffic MUST wear a reflective vest. After 5:00pm (and before 9:00pm) volunteers must also hold a flashlight. Volunteers should not direct traffic in the road, only in the parking lots.

5 LIMITED VAN SUPPORT Teams are allowed to support their runners on these legs in a LIMITED CAPACITY, meaning: Team members ARE allowed out of their vehicles on the runners side of the road in safe locations that are OFF the roadway e.g. parking lots, parks, side roads, etc. Runners may obtain support by running to these locations as long as they do not have to cross the road to do so. Supporting team members are NOT allowed on the roadway, shoulder or lane of traffic at any time. Team members are prohibited from crossing the road at any time on Limited Van Support legs. If a runner is in distress and there is a safety or health concern, teams may assist runners, but must obey all traffic and pedestrian laws in doing so. NO VAN SUPPORT/NO PULLING OVER Vans are NOT allowed to pull over and support their runners from ANY location along these legs. Vans are also NOT allowed to stop anywhere along these legs and must proceed directly to the next exchange to await their runner. If a leg is longer than 4 miles and is designated as No Van Support, water stations will be provided.
