PRE RACE INFO 10K Race HQ Mickleover Sports Club, Station Road, Mickleover, DE3 9FB Car Parking Official car parking is available at Mickleover Sports Club and marshals will direct you into a parking space; the overflow car park is based at the disused garden centre on Radbourne Lane, just past the junction with Station Road. Spaces are limited so please car share if you can. Please do not park on the main road, in the nearby estates or at the Great Northern Pub as this will disrupt both the race and the residents who live nearby.

2 Athlete Registration Athlete registration will take place from 08:00 at the Sports Club. You will receive your race number and chip tag and you can also leave your baggage in a secure location while you race. On the Day Entry There are NO entries on the day for the 10k. However, people wishing to do the Fun Run can enter on the day from the Athlete Registration area at the Sports Club. Race Briefing 10k Race Briefing will take place at 09:20 at the Sports Club on the patio area outside the bar. Please make sure you attend the briefing for your race; it should only take 5 minutes. RACE INFORMATION Chip Timing The 10k will be electronically timed by On Your Marks events. You will receive a chip tag with a Velcro strap which should be fastened around your left ankle during the race. The chip tag will trigger the start of your race time as soon as you run over the start mat and will trigger the end of your race time as soon as you cross it again at the finish of the race. All tags must be returned at the end of the event and there will be marshals on hand at the finish line to help you remove your tag. Any unreturned tags will result in a 20 charge if lost or if not handed in at the end of the event. Great Northern 10k : Route 10k Race start is on Spinneybrook Way/Starflower Way estate, opposite Mickleover Sports Club. Be aware that this is a private estate whose residents are allowing us to use their thoroughfare to start the race. Please be respectful of the residents property and obey Marshals instructions;

3 anyone displaying inappropriate behaviour will be disqualified from the race. We have to enforce a strict policy on this because negative behaviour may jeopardise similar events in the future. From Spinneybrook Way turn left onto Station Road, and left again onto Radbourne Lane. Bear left at the fork in the road and continue along Radbourne Lane; turn left onto Heage Lane. Just before the railway bridge you will turn left, through some narrow A barriers/horse trough up onto the railway line. Bear left and continue along the railway line until you reach the finish opposite the Great Northern Pub. You can find a link to the route and course notes, here: At the Finish Line Remove your chip tag from your ankle marshals will be on hand to help you with this. Get a drink/snack from the finish area. Receive your medal.

4 Race T-shirts Runners in the 10k will be able to collect their race T-shirts from the Sports Club when they have finished their race. The shirts are available from the Athlete Registration area. Headphones For the Great Northern 10k the wearing of headphones is not permitted because it is a UKA licenced event held on roads which are open to vehicles. This is in accordance with the UKA rule introduced on 1st April Anyone found to be wearing any sort of headphones during the race will be disqualified, their results will not count and they won t be eligible for prizes. Results The 10k is electronically timed by On Your Marks events. Runners will get their times via text at the end of the event. Race results will also be displayed on the On Your Marks website and subsequently the HUUB Events website as soon as possible after the race. As this is a UKA licensed event, race results will be submitted within 24 hours. Please note it may take a few weeks to appear on Run Britain and Power of Ten websites. Race Rules The event will follow the rules as set out by UKA. Race licence number FURTHER RACE INFORMATION Toilets and Changing There are changing rooms with toilets at the Sports Club as well as two portaloos at the 10k point of the half marathon, near where the finish line is.

5 Drink Stations There are drinks stations between 5 and 6km, and one at the finish line. Drinks stations will provide water, High 5 energy drink and jelly babies. Finishers Finishers of the 10k can collect their water and snack at the finish line then wander back up to the Sports Club to collect their finishers T-shirt. Please be aware of other runners still completing the half marathon course and make way for them on the footpath leading up to Race HQ. First Aid EMMS are providing our first aid cover. There will be two first aiders present at the finish line and one cycle responder stationed at the far end of the railway line. There will be an ambulance out on the course. We will also have lead/sweep cyclists on the course. Race Photography There will be two photographers, courtesy of Charles Whitton Photography, out on course to capture the event so there s no excuse for not smiling the whole way round! Photos will be available to buy after the event from Prize Presentation There are some fantastic prizes on offer for the top three men and ladies in both races as well as first placed vets in the Male V40/50/60 and Female V35/45/55 categories. Prizes will be awarded on first past the post basis. Runners are only eligible for one prize; if you qualify for two, you will be given the prize worth the highest value and the place behind you in your category will be upgraded. The Prize presentation will take place at 11:00 in the bar at the Sports Club.

6 Refreshments Mickleover Cricket Club will be open all morning from 08:00 onwards selling teas, coffees, sausage and/or bacon butties for those who have worked up an appetite. The Great Northern Pub will be open from 10:00 offering breakfasts and hot drinks. THANK YOU s!!! A big thank you to our team of volunteers who are helping out with the Great Northern Running event.
