2 Frogs, the Prince and the Princess. Once upon a time in the far away Eastern land of Thembelihle there lived a Prince called Dave, who was not at all what one might call Frog ugly but he was not really one of your classically Tall, dark and handsome princes. Dave had been told a lot over the years about Princesses going round kissing Frogs and turning them into Tall dark and handsome Princes. This lead him to think that, given he already had a fair start on the average Frog, all he needed is to get a Princess to kiss him... what a FINE Prince he should turn into? So, he Googled Princesses going around the world giving away Royal Kisses AND lo and behold He found one! Ya well no fine, all he needed to do was to get her to come and give him a Royal Kiss! Alas poor Dave, like all things in this world, there is simply no such thing as a free kiss. Terms and conditions apply! In no way daunted in his ambition, he downloaded the terms and conditions and found that whilst it may seem like a lot of effort would be needed, that Royal Kiss would be worth it. All he had to do was to enter the Golden Eight Milers at Midmar Mile and sign up to raise funds for The Princess Charlene (Nee Whitstock of Benoni) Fundraiser, which focuses on saving lives by fighting against drowning, raising public awareness of the dangers of water and teaching Children to swim. Naming his team after his beloved land Team Thembelihle he recruited Adrian Blake, Andrew Whitehead, Lindi Robbertze and Marc Daniel. Hmm? There is a suspicion that these Members are all employed in the land of Thembelihle, so declining to join up might have been perceived as what one might call a Career Limiting Move? (I never said that out loud)

To be allowed to be counted as a Golden Eight Miler, one has to swim every one of the four events on the Saturday and the Sunday, which is rather extreme for anyone but for someone to involve others

3 To be allowed to be counted as a Golden Eight Miler, one has to swim every one of the four events on the Saturday and the Sunday, which is rather extreme for anyone but for someone to involve others and to commit to motivating and leading them through is nothing short of incredible. One Mile is 1609m x 4 = Km!!!! each day x 2 = KM!!!! The Midmar Mile is the Guinness book of records highest participation open water swim in the world. Given Prince Dave s infectious and energetic lead from the front attitude it is no great surprise that the team have raised in excess of R !!!! Thank you to Kallie Burger and Frank da Ascencao for their contribution as well. We wish Prince Dave and his wonderful team a fun filled weekend of swimming four miles on each day, to earn his Royal Kiss. Note to Prince Dave: Nobody s Kiss could change the Beauty which shines from with you! Well done on a fine effort, we are Proud to be associated with you!

4 Boksburg Athletic Club has some interesting history with the Midmar with many members having swum it, including Frank. Neil Cochran and his family hold a strange record for having swum the family team event with four generations in the team. Lorna Cochran is, we are lead to believe the oldest lady in the world to have swum an open water mile at 91!
