3 Participant Check List Planning Read this event guide Review parking info and event map Check the weather and prepare to dress appropriately - event is rain or shine! GOTR Girls & Coaches plan to wear program shirt as outermost layer Drink plenty of water, set your alarm, and get a good night of sleep! Event Day Wear sneakers and your program shirt as outermost layer Bring race bib & pins (GOTR girls and running buddies will receive at team table) Pin your race bib to the front of your shirt/jacket Bring cash/credit card and plan to visit the GOTR Merchandise & Cheer Gear Boutique Be prepared to HAVE FUN!

4 Important Arrival & Parking Information All Attendees (including coaches & volunteers) will Park in the Lot EAST of the Giant Center: From Hersheypark Drive, turn onto Park Blvd. & follow signs for Hershey Attractions/GIANT Center (blue arrow below) Stop at the Parking Attendant Stations let them know you are with Girls on the Run. Parking is FREE. Follow the road around the GIANT Center. You will go under an overpass, then turn right into the parking area shortly after the overpass (red arrows below). Parking attendants will be on-site to guide you to the appropriate location

5 Race Day Check-In Procedures ALL Please refer to the map on the next page GOTR COACHES - Check in at 7:30AM 1. If you were unable to take your coach box to packet pick-up, bring your CLEANED OUT coach box (including all curriculum copies) to the 5K. There will be a box drop-off area in the parking lot, near the steps/ramp before the walking bridge. If you are unable to park close to the drop off zone, you may drive up to the curb, drop off your box, then proceed to park. 2. Report to the coach check-in area, just past security at the end of the walking bridge. 3. Proceed to your assigned table in the Team Zone (inside GIANT Center) GOTR GIRLS Check in at 8:00AM 1. Enter the GIANT Center. 2. Each Team is assigned a table. As you enter the GIANT Center, there will be a map to help you find your table location. Proceed to your team table to check-in with your coach. 3. Do not leave your team space until you have linked up with your Running Buddy RUNNING BUDDIES Check in at 8:00AM 1. Arrive on time to avoid your GOTR Girl missing out on activities. 2. If pre-registered, follow steps above for GOTR GIRLS. 3. For same day registration, please register first (inside GIANT Center), then head to the team table for your girl s site/school.

11 Since the safety of our participants is our highest priority, it was necessary to move the event to the Giant Center to avoid the traffic that will be entering Hersheypark throughout our event. 5K C O U R S E The 5K Course will wind through the Giant Center s massive parking lots and will be completely inaccessible by any vehicles. There will be a water station located on the course, near the half way point. The design of the course will allow girls opportunities to look for their friends along the course and encourage each other along the way. All restrooms are located inside the Giant Center. There are no restrooms out on the course. Please plan accordingly.

12 Spectator Locations Denotes the Start/Finish Line All areas in GREEN are ideal for spectators. Please comply with authorities and do not attempt to enter areas beyond those highlighted here. Please share this with family and friends who are attending.

13 Event Etiquette The Girls on the Run 5K Event is a 5K like no other! We EXPECT you to have a great time, be festive, cheer wildly & loudly (VERY loudly) and be prepared to smile until your face hurts! While we have worked very hard to bring you a well-organized, fun, and safe event, we do ask for your help and cooperation so that the event runs smoothly! FOR OUR 5K PARTICIPANTS: At the start, line up according to your running ability. Faster runners in front & walkers/anyone with strollers near the back. Do not run more than 2 people side by side & always let another runner pass. Move to the right side if you need to stop or walk. Be aware of your surroundings and always listen to event authorities. Keep moving through the finisher s chute after you cross the finish line. FOR OUR SPECTATORS: Do not impede the path of any runner throughout the course and at the finish. Stay off the course at all times and do not enter the finishing chute. Be respectful of other spectators. Always listen to our event volunteers and authorities. We ask that EVERYONE, runners & spectators alike, THANK OUR VOLUNTEERS! We literally couldn t run without them. FOR EVERYONE: NO PETS: While we love our furry friends, for their safety and the safety of our event participants, please leave all pets at home. RESTROOMS: There are restrooms located in the Giant Center, but NO restrooms on the course. Plan accordingly. NO SMOKING: This event and the Giant Center are tobacco-free. No smoking (including smokeless tobacco products).

14 Miscellaneous Info & FAQs Can I sign up to run after online registration closes? Yes! On-site registration is available during early packet pick-up on Friday, May 13, from Noon-7:00pm at the GOTR Office, and on race morning from 8:00-9:15am. Can someone else pick up my race bib & shirt? Yes, a friend or family member may pick up your race packet for you. *Running buddies your GOTR girl s coach will have your race bib and shirt at the team s table. Is the Girls on the Run 5K timed? Yes, PA Runners will be providing chip timing for the event. Will there be awards? Yes, there will be awards for the top two overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers in each age-group (12 and under, 13-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56 and over). Is the Girls on the Run 5K for girls only? NOOOOO! The event is open to the public! So much of the Girls on the Run program is centered around the support that each girl receives from her teammates, her friends, and her family. We encourage parents, siblings, friends, grandparents, extended family and community supporters to register for the Girls on the Run 5K. Can I run with a jogging stroller? Yes! We just ask that you begin at the back of the pack and keep a keen eye out for others while on the course. Can I wear my ipod during the Girls on the Run 5K? We ask that you keep your music at home and enjoy the event in its entirety - the sights and the sounds! Will there be a water stop along the course route? Yes there will be 1 water stop on the course. Participants are encouraged to plan accordingly if they believe they will need additional water while completing the 5K. Post-race water and refreshments will be provided for registered participants. I registered but I cannot make the run, can I get a refund? Unfortunately, we are unable to process any refunds. All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. What about inclement weather? The GOTR 5K is scheduled to happen rain or shine! Should the need arise, we will communicate any last minute changes via participant , our website, Twitter, and Facebook. Additionally, if you provided your cell phone number during 5K registration, you will receive a text message alert. I have additional questions, whom can I contact? 15 Spirit on the Course Signs Thank you to all who purchased Spirit on the Course signs to support your runner! Signs will be displayed along the course to provide motivation and encouragement to the runners. Signs will be gathered and returned to the Information Table as quickly as possible following the run. Please try to stop by on your way home to pick up your sign. If you are unable to get your sign on Saturday, they will be stored at the Girls on the Run office for approximately one month. You may come to the office at 525 N. 12 th Street, Suite 205, Lemoyne to get them.
