1 Dear Coaches & Athletes, On Friday, April 17 th and Saturday, April 18th, Long Beach State University will host the 2015 Beach Track & Field Invitational at Cerritos College. The facility features nine 48-inch lanes, multiple dual-direction jump runways and several throwing sites. The facility is specifically designed to take advantage of favorable wind conditions and should provide all athletes with the best opportunity for outstanding performances. Long Beach State celebrates its 21 ST year of hosting the Beach Invitational. Our event has grown into one of the most successful university meets in the nation. In 2014, our meet hosted over 100 universities representing 32 states, and nearly 3000 entries. We had representation from many of the major collegiate conferences including the South East Conference (SEC), PAC-12, Big West, Big 12, Mountain West, Big Sky, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and more. This event s mission is to create a competitive, well run event that provides the quality facilities and conditions to perform while providing a fair and challenging opportunity for all accepted competitors. All races will be fairly and consistently divided into highly competitive heats/flights. Please make sure to read all of the enclosed information carefully, and do NOT miss our entry deadlines on Direct Athletics. Although we will accept late entries to a point, the final deadline is the last opportunity to add your athlete. We will not accommodate ANY day of the meet entries. 3 ENTRY PROCEDURES FOR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITIES All collegiate teams must enter using the Direct Athletics website at Entries must be completed by Monday, April 13 at 6pm (PST). Entry fees for collegiate teams should be paid at packet pickup the day of the meet. Checks payable to: Beach Athletic Club. You may confirm your entries on by Wednesday, April 15 at 2pm (PST). There will be no refunds for scratches. PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITIES Payment due in full at packet pick up. Teams will not be allowed to enter the stadium without their team packet and wristbands. Athletes will not be allowed to compete before payment is received. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO WAY!!! PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS/CLUBS If you are entering as an INDIVIDUAL athlete, you must pay online with a credit card. Entries will not be accepted without payment. ENTRY FEES Entry fees are calculated based upon the status of accepted entries as of 6:00pm, Monday, April 13 th INDIVIDUAL $15.00 per event/per athlete $25.00 per relay Please pay by school issued check, personal check, money order or cash and please make sure to have the correct amount on your checks. No refunds will be issued. 4 PACKET PICKUP Packet pick-up will be at the Falcon Stadium ticket office at Cerritos College, on the North end under the stadium scoreboard. Packets pickup hours of Operation: Saturday, April 18th 7:00AM 4:00PM (Ticket Booth) Entry fees must be paid in full before a packet is issued. NO EXCEPTIONS! Meet management will distribute the team packet to the first coach (ONLY coaches or school administrators) who arrive at the packet pickup booth. This packet will contain the access credentials for the entire team and staff. If you are planning to arrive at different times, please make arrangements to meet your team at a designated location outside the facility to distribute your team credentials. If such arrangements cannot be made, please contact Andy Sythe at andysythe@verizon.net We CANNOT hold the team packet at the packet pickup booth. CERRITOS COLLEGE FACILITY This first-rate facility features a 9 lane Mondo track and Mondo runways, separate men and women s long jump/triple jump pits, and a full D zone high jump apron. Throwing events are located on the grass outfield, south of the track. DIRECTIONS Maps and directions to Cerritos College can be found at: PARKING Parking is $5.00 at this event, except for team busses & vans only. Spectator parking is available off of Alondra Blvd. in Student Parking lots C-1 and C-2. Campus maps and driving directions can be found on-line at: NOTE: Parking in the residential areas is prohibited and violators will be cited. A city ordinance (as of 1/1/13) requires residential permits to park. ADMISSION Adults $8, Youth & Seniors $5. Seniors must present I.D. to receive discount. CSULB students are FREE with Student ID. FINAL MEET SCHEDULE This meet schedule is tentative. The final schedule will be posted by 12pm on Wednesday, April 15 th. RULES The meet will operate under USATF rules. Wind gauges will be used for sprints and horizontal jumps. All horizontal jumpers and throwers will receive 3 attempts, and only the top 9 Individuals are eligible to compete in the finals. Finalists will be given 3 more attempts in the horizontal jumps and throws. CHECK IN Runners must check in with the clerk at the tent near the gate on the Southwest corner of the field (200m start) at least 30 minutes before their event, or be scratched. Field event athletes should check in at the event site within 30 minutes of the start of their event.

5 WARM UP Warm-ups may be conducted outside the stadium on the grass fields southwest of the track, or on the West Discus field, behind the West bleachers. Please, no warm ups on the infield. INFIELD RULES Only water is allowed on the infield area. To protect the track and field turf, back packs and travel bags will not be allowed within the perimeter of the track to prevent food and beverages (which are prohibited) from being brought into the competition area. CERRITOS COLLEGE FACILITY RULES The Cerritos College Administration has asked that all participants refrain from going on or into other campus facilities. No hopping fences, swimming in the pool, etc. Violators may be subject to ejection from campus. TEAM TENTS Please set up tents on the top rows of the stadium seating. Team tents are not allowed on the lower levels as a courtesy to spectators. TRAINERS Long Beach State Athletic Medicine will be onsite for ice, emergency and first aid care only. Cerritos College and LBSU are not responsible for stretching, taping or treatments. Each visiting school must provide their own trainers. 6 SPIKE LENGTH A maximum length of 3/16 PYRAMID spikes will be accepted on the track facility and runways. We will be selling spikes near the Clerks Table. Athletes who compete with the incorrect spike length will be disqualified. Spike checks will be conducted at the Northwest entrance before the athletes enter the stadium. 3/16 PYRAMID spikes will be sold at the spike check table. Any shoe that is not inspected and approved will be disqualified at the competition site and/or starting line. WEIGH-INS On Friday, Weigh-ins for implements will be located at the So. Field House near the South hammer ring. 7 HOG LINES We will use opening heights in the vertical jumps and minimum distances for measurement in the horizontal jumps. In the long & triple jumps we will measure the 1st fair attempt in the prelims regardless of whether it passes the hog line. Field markers will be used to measure all long throws both in prelims and finals. WOMEN MEN HJ = 4 11 HJ = 5 10 ¾ PV = 9 6 ½ PV = 13 6 ½ LJ = 17 LJ = 20 TJ = 36 TJ = 44 AUTO MEASURE Because we use field markers to measure all long throws both in prelims and finals, we will also automatically measure any throw over the following distances in case they may need to be used as a second mark for NCAA Div. 1 qualifying. WOMEN MEN DT = 160 DT = 170 HT = 180 HT = 185 JT = 140 JT = 200 DIVISON 1 SCORING The VS Athletics Beach Invitational will be scored for all Division 1 teams and for all events. Non-Division I teams and individuals will not be included in team scoring. Division I team scoring will be posted with results at the websites below. AWARDS Champion flags will be awarded to the individual champion and relay teams in each event. Flags should be picked up by the winner at their event location. Heat winners of track events report to the finish line after their race. The fastest time of all heats will claim the award. IMPORTANT: We encourage all Champions to take a victory lap with their flag. Please begin your lap at the start finish area. Let our announcer know in advance so you can be given your due recognition over the PA.
