First boat to finish wins. This is a spectator event. All competitors must own a Water Wag dinghy. The boats vary in age from 107 years old to 4 years old. The Water Wags were founded in 1887 as the oldest onedesign sailing dinghy in the world. One design means that all boats are identical in all respects, so a race is a test of seamanship. Come inside for some old-world enchantment. Built in 1875, this cottage boasts 2 fireplaces, despite its simple interior. Folk Artist Biddy and her father Owen have restored the cottage to its original state. A baby crane swings from the turf fire. An 18th century Harnen stand from Donegal takes pride of place at the hearth, and is still used today by Biddy to make oatcakes. Céad Míle Fáilte to all who visit.
