1 Dear Prospective Member: We are pleased that you are considering Silver Gate Yacht Club for membership. Attached are the membership application forms and a fee schedule. If you decide that Silver Gate is the yacht club for you, please complete all the forms and return them to the front office, along with the required fees. Your application will then be given to the Membership Committee for processing. Some of the amenities you ll enjoy as a member of SGYC are: Dining facilities with a view of San Diego Bay, downtown and the Shelter Island Yacht Basin Banquet Room available to members for private parties with catering by Consummate Catering Catch the View from the stunning bar overlooking the bay, downtown and the Shelter Island Yacht Basin Relax by the fireplace or enjoy mingling with friends on the outdoor bar decks Patio area with gas barbecue - Great for those summer evening parties Pool and Spa complex overlooking the marina Bocce Ball Court Library room with a fireplace and a view Spa-like restroom facilities, including private showers Full laundry room and locker area State-of-the-art marina Dry slips for trailerable boats with access to the crane hoist Dinghy storage racks for Flag and Junior Flag Members Use of the SGYC stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, row boat, SilverGater runabout, and beach cruiser bicycles And some of the nicest people you ll meet anywhere! SGYC prides itself on community involvement. For over 50 years we have hosted the annual Wheelchair Regatta, an event benefiting San Diegans with physical and mental challenges. We also host the America s Schooner Cup Regatta benefiting the Navy and Marine Corp Relief Society. Our sailing fleet is active in racing and cruising events; our power fleet participates in the Predicted Log races and our fishing fleet puts on tournaments and events for our fishing enthusiasts. We have a very active V32 Model Race Fleet that is great fun and races monthly at our docks. For families, our Junior Program offers year round activities, as well as the Junior Sailing program in the summer which is open to area youngsters. On those off days when you re not enjoying your boat, there s plenty to do at the clubhouse. Our Entertainment Committee has seasonal events planned throughout the year, so there s never a dull moment! We hope you decide to join Silver Gate Yacht Club and become part of a wonderful family. Junior Member: Under 21 years of age; must renew annually; may be assigned one dry storage space (subject to availability) Applicants 29 or younger pay 1/2 of the initiation fee for the applicable membership category. 4 Credit Score Report Part of the Silver Gate Yacht Club Membership application process is to review an applicant s credit score. When applying for Membership, we will need a current document showing your credit score in order to process your application. If you are applying for Flag/Joint Flag or Junior Flag/Joint Junior Flag, the Port Captain of SGYC must inspect your boat and documentation, such as proof of ownership and insurance, prior to your application being presented to the Board of Directors. Note: Members may not live aboard their boats except on weekends and for short vacations unless they qualify for live -aboard status.
