2 Organization FACULTY OF SPORT, UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA NATO MOUNTAIN WARFARE CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE, POLJČE, SLOVENIA Goal of the Symposium Presentation and exchange of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of high altitude physiology and activity on increased altitude. Application of scientific findings regarding high altitude activity to the military mountain units. Foreseeable themes/topics of scientific part of the Symposium 1. HIGH ALTITUDE (activities between 4000 and 8864 m) and/or adequate NORMOBARIC HYPOXIA and performance, influence of environmental conditions (hypoxia, cold), acclimatization, nutrition, medicine issues, alpinist expeditions, military operations in the mountains including non-combat evacuation operations (NEO). 2. MODERATE ALTITUDE (activities between 1500 and 4000 m) and/or adequate NORMOBARIC HYPOXIA and performance, influence of environmental conditions (hypoxia, cold), acclimatization, nutrition, medicine issues, trekking, altitude training for performance (sport training), military operations in the mountains including non-combat evacuation operations (NEO), alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, 2

OTHER TOPIC RELATED TO ALTITUDE AND HYPOXIA Sports climbing Hypoxia of certain organs during normoxing exercise (living) The program consists of two parts, as follows: planned trip to the peak of mountain Triglav and last but not least the Symposium at. Triglav (2.864 m) climbing tour The practical part has the purpose to learn about the mountains in the country of the organizer. The meeting point for the trip to Triglav (2.864 m) is. During the ascent, all participants will overnight once in a mountain hut. The costs will be borne by participants themselves. The return to valley will be on A detailed program follows. The contribution for Triglav trip will cost approximately 60, the price includes 1 overnight stay and meals in the mountain hut (all payable at the beginning of the trip in ) 3
