The unique environment of the Schwarzsee lake with the surrounding hilly landscapes of Bichlach form a focal point, as does the magnificent area along the Kitzbühel Ache river and the newly designed Jochberg running region in the South of Kitzbühel. Mountain running trails on the famous Hahnenkamm ski peak and the Kitzbüheler Horn complete this range of quality trails. From beginners, through to ambitious athletes, everybody who is keen on exercise will really get their money s worth. 6 : :

7 7 : : Special guide system for speed and heart rate monitoring Track classification So everyone can find their ideal route without any hassle, routes for running, mountain running and Nordic Walking are provided using the Laufland Tirol guide system. This own developed 2-board system consists of Direction and Distance boards, providing information about directions, route lengths, the difficulty of routes and the exact kilometres run in the sections. This means that each runner, or Nordic Walker, can, for instance, check straight away that they are keeping to their individual speed and heart rate limits as determined in medical check-ups. 9 9 : : START schwarzsee Schwarzsee-Runde: 2,5 km 2471 m 9 m 7 m/km 793 m 17 m 6 % 0,5 % 781 m brief profile: Short, very popular running and Nordic Walking circuit around one of the most beautiful moor lakes in the Alpine area Under foot: Forest and gravel paths, tarmac, boardwalks Route: The Schwarzsee-Runde starts from the car park heading east along the lake, at first on tarmac, then soon on gravel meadow and forest trails. After around 1 km you get to the Kitzbühel forest mile, where there are various drills to add a bit of variety to your training. Shortly after this the path then goes directly along the water, partly on boardwalks and partly on gravel paths through superb moor and lake side areas. You get back to the starting point along the west bank and over an adjacent hill. Schwarz- see- Runde 2,5 km münichau-walk: 4,5 km 4504 m 23 m 11 m/km 813 m 51 m 12 % 1 % 770 m brief profile: Short flat circuit which you can run back-to-back Under foot: Tarmac, forest paths Münichau- Walk Route: The circuit runs from the car-park at Lake Schwarzsee, starting along the track to the west, where you cross over Golf Club Kitzbühel- Schwarzsee, a dreamy golf course. The track continues on the flat to Münichau, where you get to the forest after you pass by Münichau Castle. After a brief ascent you get to Lake Schwarzsee via gentle forest tracks and then it s not long until you get to the starting point again. 4,5 km

10 Steuerberg-lauf: 8,9 km 8882 m 45 m 17 m/km 832 m 149 m 14 % 0,7 % 769 m brief profile: Mid-length route through hilly scenery from Bichlach along three wonderful lakes Under foot: Forest and gravel paths, tarmac, forest paths Route: Up the north bank of Lake Schwarzsee the route runs parallel to the Schwarzsee-Runde, but then heads east towards the Steuerberg, which you get to via a steep forest track which has a few switchbacks. Following the flat ridges of the Steuerberg the path heads down to the Vogelsberg pond and from there further on to the Gieringer pond, where you can bathe in the summer ( Waldbad Gieringer Weiher dogs are allowed here!). After a brief climb to the hamlet of Giering the route goes down to Münichau and from there back to the starting point at Lake Schwarzsee. Steuerberg Lauf 8,9 km Reither-trail: 11,6 km m 43 m 21 m/km 876 m 245 m 22 % 1,2 % 739 m brief profile: Long, very varied and scenically beautiful circuit but you need to be fit and sure-footed Under foot: Forest and meadow paths, narrow steep tracks, tarmac Route: This very diverse circuit starts at Lake Schwarzsee heading north and at first goes through the hilly landscape of Bichlach, where there are several hills of differing steepness to be conquered - all of which have the impressive Wilder Kaiser mountain range in sight. After a brief, steep descent the route traverses the Reither Ache and goes, with not much change in altitude, over wonderful forest and meadow paths, through Reith and back to the starting point. Reither- Trail 11,6 km 10 : :

11 11 : : start PFARRAU Stadtrunde: 4,1 km 4051 m 12 m 7 m/km 771 m 28 m 8 % 0,6 % 748 m brief profile: Short, central route connected to the KitzRunning network which also offers some individual routes Under foot: Tarmac Route: From Pfarrau car-park the Stadtrunde goes clockwise around the entire Kitzbühel town centre. You get to two further KitzRunning starting points Achen promenade Sportpark and the Hahnenkamm Cable-Car valley station. So you have the chance to run walk on one of the routes which start there. An ideal route for everyone, who would like to do a lap by themselves in the snow when it s dark. Ganslern-trail: 5,3 km 5322 m 69 m 31 m/km 900 m 166 m 26 % 2,6 % 764 m brief profile: Mid length, medium difficulty route over the famous Kitzbühel World Cup-ski pistes Under foot: Forest and meadow paths, tarmac, forest roads Route: From Pfarrau car park the circuit starts flat heading west to Lake Schwarzsee. At the train station at Schwarzsee the route crosses the train line and the main road, always keeping to the forest and at the edge of the forest, undulating in an easterly direction. You reach a brief steep part on the open meadows at the lift for the legendary Streif ski run, which you cross in an easterly direction. Further on this goes down to the Hahnenkamm Cable-Car valley station and the last part is parallel to the town circuit back to the starting point. Stadtrunde 4,1 km Ganslern- Trail 5,3 km

12 Triathlon in Kitzbühel. The ITU World Triathlon Series has been taking place in Kitzbühel for the last few years. This places the legendary city of sport in the same league as big cities and Olympic host cities such as Sydney, San Diego, Madrid, London, Hamburg and Tokio Yokohama Kitzbühel will be hosting the ETU Triathlon European Championships. The Kitzbühel-Triathlon is one of the most beautiful and popular competitions on the tour among athletes. The gently rolling natural landscapes, the soothing moorland Schwarzsee lake and the magnificent running trails all play a part. 12 : :

13 13 : : In addition to the professional runners, some 1000 amateur athletes from all over Europe also take part in the sprint distance (750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, 5 km running) and in the Olympic short distance (1.5 km 40 km 10 km).

14 Achrain-Pfad: 7,2 km 7237 m 58 m 24 m/km 823 m 176 m 24 % 0,9 % 756 m brief profile: Town country lake, a circuit that really has everything to offer. Under foot: Forest roads, forest and meadow paths, tarmac Route: From Pfarrau car-park the route goes toward the city for a bit. At the parish church it takes a left up to the foot of the Lebenberg along to the hamlet of Achrain. The path goes via sunny meadows and shaded forest sections in different gradients and slopes to the west of Steuerberg in a wide loop to Lake Schwarzsee, and along its east side. From there the route is flat and goes over the magnificent meadows straight back to the starting point. Achrain- Pfad 7,2 km start HAHNENKAMM cable-car valley STATion Streif-hillclimb: 4,9 km 4916 m 876 m 178 m/km 1649 m 876 m 38 % 17,8 % 773 m brief profile: Hard mountain run for very fit athletes, along the hardest ski-run in the world Under foot: Forest, steep mountain paths, tarmac Route: From the starting point at Hahnenkamm Cable-Car valley station you head south-west. Along the classic Streif ski run you pass the generally well-known section Hausbergkante and Lärchenschuss, reaching narrow, in part very steep mountain paths up to the Seidlalm. After the Seidlalm jump the route continues on somewhat flatter, parallel to the old forest aisle, but is then very steep again above the steep slope to the Mausefalle and finally to the finish near the Hahnenkamm Cable-Car mountain station. Streif- Hillclimb 4,9 km 14 : :

15 15 : : hahnenkamm-trophy: 8,5 km 8481 m 452 m 105 m/km 1651 m 890 m 28 % 10,4 % 773 m brief profile: Not excessively steep, for a longer mountain run along Ehrenbach to the Hahnenkamm Under foot: Forest paths, tarmac Route: From the starting point near the Hahnenkamm Cable-Car it first runs parallel to the Streif-Hillclimb route, yet this mountain run route soon heads south east on forest paths above the idyllically located hermitage heading toward Ehrenbach. It continues on above the stream mostly in the forest past the Ehrenbach chapel up to Melkalm. Going north via the open Alpine meadows you get to your destination near the mountain station for Hahnenkamm Cable-Car. Hahnen- kamm- Trophy 8,5 km start HAHNENKAMM cable-car mountain station Panorama-höhenweg: 3,5 km 3461 m 133 m 47 m/km 1795 m 161 m 24 % 4,3 % 1645 m brief profile: Unique circuit with a breathtaking panoramic view and architectural highlights of Alfons Walde at an altitude of between and m Under foot: wide gravel paths Route: From the mountain station of the Hahnenkamm Cable-Car this wonderful Alpine circuit goes past the starting area for the Hahnenkamm ski run on the north-westerly edge of the Hahnenkamm over to Ehrenbachhöhe. There you pass the pretty Bernhard chapel, and after a brief steep part, the idyllically located Speichersee. At the mountain station for the Fleckalmbahn you turn round in a small loop and are now on the other side, going back to your starting point. Panorama- Höhenweg 3,5 km

16 start ZUM HORN Kitzbüheler horn: 7 + 2,5 km 9473 m 1210 m 128 m/km 1996 m 1210 m 36 % 12,8 % 791 m brief profile: metres altitude (to Alpenhaus 865 m altitude) a very demanding mountain run on Kitzbühel s landmark mountain Under foot: Tarmac Route: along the tarmaced (toll) road the route keeps going up, in countless curves and sweeps to Kitzbühel s landmark mountain. Athletes have pitted themselves against one another in many legendary races on foot and by bike on this demanding mountain route. After 7 km you get to Alpenhaus, the finish for lots of these races. For those of you who haven t had enough yet, you ride or run further up to the summit at an altitude of m. You get back into the valley from both finish points with the Hornbahn Cable-Car (open from mid-may until the start of October). Kitzbüheler Horn 7 + 2,5 km Kitzbüheler Horn Austria s steepest cycling mountain. The climb up to the Kitzbüheler Horn is the steepest of its kind in Austria. The panoramic street is one of the most difficult sports mountain trails in the world. The extreme gradient of up to 22.3% in places, paired with the sundrenched location, make this an extraordinary climb. Although the length (7.5 km) and altitude difference (920 m) of the road to the Alpenhaus fall below those of the famous Tour-de-France mountains. One of the most legendary mountain roads in the Alps has been home to a permanent time measurement feature since the Summer of The distance from the starting point at Höglern (791 m), just above the Römerweg, to the Alpenhaus (1.670 m) can be completed in around 30 minutes by world class cyclists and runners. Amateur athletes will need at least 50 minutes. Why not take part in a (pretend) race with friends, acquaintances or the stars and enter the annual Kitzbüheler Horn rankings at the Alpenhaus. The popular race runs from the main square in Kitzbühel up to the peak of the Kitzbüheler Horn. The international Kitzbüheler Horn mountain cycle race has been taking place here since 1971 and has seen both national and international greats put their skills to the test including Wolfgang Steinmayr, Helmut Wechselberger, Lucien van Impe (BEL), the Tour-de-France star of the 70s and Beat Breu (SUI), winner of the Alpe d Huez in The start of the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain running race, photo: Salomon The race takes place at the start of August each year. After gathering en masse in the town centre, the athletes move on to the starting point at the Höglern (791 m) and from here, it s time to pick up the pace and race up to the Alpenhaus (1.670 m). Since 2000, the crowning stage of the International Austria Tour race has also taken cyclists up to the Kitzbüheler Horn. Up to 7,000 spectators gather to welcome the cycling stars at the Alpenhaus with a real sense of tension in the air. Famous winners of the Kitzbüheler Horn cycle race include Georg Totschnig (AUT, 2000), Cadel Evans (AUS, 2001 and 2004) and Thomas Rohregger (AUT, 2007).

18 start RÖMERWEG oberndorf Römerweg-Run: 10,0 km m 45 m 15 m/km 800 m 148 m 14 % 1,1 % 687 m brief profile: Classic m run in an amazing atmosphere Under foot: Tarmac, gravel paths Route: From the starting point on the Römerweg you go to the little used road which is for residents only, always keeping to the foot of the Kitzbühel Horn heading north. After just a bit more than a kilometre the route is inaccessible to all road users and goes on the very sunny terrain via dreamy country meadows, always with slight gradients until Oberndorf. At the lift car-park, after exactly 5 km there is a turning point. The straight route goes back, whereby there is a wonderful m run without any changes in direction of note. The route is also signposted from the other direction, with the start in Oberndorf. Römerweg- Run 10,0 km start ACHENPROMENADE SPORTS PARK zulauf Römerweg-Run brief profile: On non busy paths from the centre to the Römerweg Under foot: Tarmac, gravel paths Route: From the starting point on Achenpromenade Sportpark this run route heads north to the Ache and then later along the track. Crossing over the Hornweg you get to Ölbergweg, which is tarmaced and wide at the start but soon turns into a narrow forest path. This then takes a brief rise right to the starting point on the Römerweg. Zulauf Römerweg- Run 18 : :

19 19 : : Achenlauf: 8,2 km 8246 m 12 m 7 m/km 803 m 56 m 4 % 0,7 % 749 m brief profile: Ideal medium length yet flat training route along the Ache Under foot: Tarmac, gravel paths Route: From the starting point at Achenpromenade heading south, always following the southern bank of the crystal clear Kitzbühel Ache, the route goes to Aurach, where the valley changes sides. Passing magnificent meadows as well as the centre of Unteraurach village the route runs in an easy gradient to the west. At Staudach the valley side changes again, the path goes from here along the Achenpromenade again back to the starting point. 8,2 km malern-walk: 4,6 km 4581 m 48 m 14 m/km 802 m 63 m 14 % 1,2 % 749 m brief profile: Tour of discovery which is rich in diversity on the eastern edge of the town Under foot: Tarmac, meadow paths Route: From the starting point at Achenpromenade heading south, after the railway underpass the route goes right, climbing to a plateau at the south of the town with an idyllically located Malern hamlet, which you get to via flat, fragrant meadows. Via the meadow paths you cross the valley floor and get to the Badhaussiedlung. You reach the starting point by going past Kitzbühel Golf Club and at the Tennis stadium. Achenlauf Malern- Walk 4,6 km

20 Sonnberg-Schleife: 10,9 km m 171 m 23 m/km 972 m 249 m 24 % 2,1 % 749 m brief profile: Long circuit in fantastic setting, away from the hustle and bustle Under foot: Tarmac, meadow paths and steep tracks Route: After the first 4 km parallel to the Achenlauf the route goes up to Oberaurach and further on the sunny meadows of the Sonnberg. The run has alternating inclines and downhill sections, always with the entire Kitzbühel basin in view towards the east. Past Ebner chapel via picturesque routes down towards the city the route comes to Golf Club Kitzbühel at Malern-Walk, when it goes back comfortably parallel to the starting point. Sonnberg- Schleife 10,9 km 20 : :

21 21 : : Kitz Running Jochberg. 65 km new Running and Walking routes. The holiday resort of Jochberg is home to 65 km of brand new running and walking trails. The old mining community is located 10 km South of Kitzbühel.

22 start car park WAGSTÄTT lift 16 Askara-Runde: 4,7 km 4722 m 41 m 17 m/km 951 m 80 m 14 % 0,9 % 910 m Brief profile: Short and easy training route along the Jochberger Ache river bank Under foot: Asphalt, gravel Route: From the starting point at the Wagstätt lift, the Askara tour runs through the area towards the South. After a kilometre, the route crosses the river before running into the valley through the magnificent lowland forests and meadow landscapes. After 2.5 kilometres, you cross the Ache again and follow the river back to the start. Askara- Runde 4,7 km 17 Perlberg-Tour: 8,5 km 8540 m 211 m 40 m 1121 m 341 m 28 % 2,6 % 897 m Brief profile: Medium length tour with challenging sections across the dreamy Weiss-Wast hill Under foot: Hilly woodland paths, gravel, asphalt Route: From the starting point at the Wagstätt lift, the Perlberg tour runs parallel to the Askara tour through the area towards the South before branching off at the Sintersbach stream some 2 kilometres along the route. The path follows a gentle incline along the stream over the romantic Weiss-Wast hill until it reaches a forest trail. At this point, the route turns back down into the valley. It follows a wide loop at the foot of the Perlberg and runs through dense forests back to the centre of Jochberg. Perlberg- Tour 8,5 km 22 : :

23 23 : : 18 Wildalm-Schleife: 10,6 km m 291 m 57 m 1440 m 600 m 52 % 5,1 % 897 m Wildalm- Schleife Brief profile: A long and challenging route passing through varied and impressive landscapes 10,6 km Under foot: Hilly forest and mountain tracks, gravel, asphalt Route: From the starting point at the Wagstätt lift, the Wildalm loop runs parallel to the Perlberg tour through the area towards the South, along the Sintersbach stream and over the romantic Weiss-Wast hill. It then follows the Sintersbach across some steep sections in part to the impressive Sintersbach waterfalls. The route then leads across the beautiful mountain meadows to its peak at the Wildalm. From here it runs back through the forests, with sensational panoramic views of the valley, back to the centre. start farm SCHERING 19 Jagawurz-Lauf: 7,0 km 6979 m 221 m 46 m 1540 m 320 m 22 % 4,1 % 1251 m Brief profile: Attractive run through the mountain pastures along wide forests trails on the Jochberg Under foot: Gravel Route: From the starting point in Schering, the Jagawurz run follows a moderate incline to the Wagstättalm hut and on to the Wurz-Niederalm. Following wide forest tracks it then leads on to the Jagawurz hut, the highest point on the route. Then it s back down the mountain through the beautiful meadows to the Bruggeralm hut and back to the start. Jagawurz- Lauf 7,0 km

No problem the route runs along the best route! Under foot: Gravel, asphalt Route: The connecting route runs North from the starting point at the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol to Kitzbühel. The route then runs along wide sections along the Jochberger Ache river following a gentle incline downhill. The route ends in Kitzbühel at the Achenpromenade Sports park, the starting point of the KitzRunning network. Kitz- Connection 8,4 km 21 Auberg-Trail: 4,4 km 4359 m 42 m 29 m 920 m 125 m 34 % 1,8% 841 m Brief profile: A shorter and very varied run Under foot: Asphalt, woodland and meadow trails, gravel Auberg- Trail Route: From the starting point at the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol, the Auberg trail runs North to the Saukaserbach stream. In a second loop, the tour runs across fields and meadows and back down to the Kitzbüheler Strasse. It follows this road for a while before crossing through meadows below the Jochberger Ache river. The Ache passes below the area through a dreamy gorge. A short, steep section runs back to the starting point in the centre. 4,4 km 24 : :

25 25 : : 22 Oberhausen-Run: 7,6 km 7571 m 65 m 25 m 941 m 191 m 20 % 1,6 % 821 m Brief profile: Medium training track through the Northern Jochberg region Under foot: Asphalt, woodland and meadow trails Route: From the starting point at the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol, the Oberhausen run passes through meadows to the centre of Jochberg and from here into the gorge of the Jochberger Ache. The route follows the Ache out of the valley and runs up past the swimming pool before reaching the Oberhausen trail. This leads along the hillside at a medium altitude to Bichl. Here the route turns and crosses the Kitzbüheler Strasse. It then runs South across the flat gentle meadows back to the start. Shortly before reaching the centre, it turns off right. The ascent follows a narrow trail over 400 metres of altitude. Surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, it then leads on to the Wurz-Niederalm. Here it meets with a forest trail which runs parallel to the Jagawurz run and on to the Schering farm. 28 KitzRoadbike 14 new training tracks. Over the last few years, the number of tourist and local racing bikers has increased sharply. The current Triathlon boom and the arrival of cyclists for the Tour of Austria race on the Kitzbüheler Horn have all played a part in this. Kitzbühel offers racing bikers 14 perfect training trails of all difficulty levels covering a total of km. The Kitzbüheler Horn is the steepest mountain for cycling in Austria (22.3 %!). Mountain biking until your pedals glow! Mountain biking has already established itself as a traditional sport in Kitzbühel. The gently rolling mountain landscapes of the Kitzbühel Alps with their endless forest and Alpine trails are ideal for practising this sport. A total of over 800 km of cycling and mountain biking trails are available. Trail bikers will also find what they are looking for on the Ehrenbachtrail and the Kirchberger Gaisberg. Kitzbühel s fascinating water worlds. The Schwarzsee lake is one of the most beautiful bathing lakes in the Alpine region. The lake contains peat, enabling it to heat up quickly in Spring and unfold its soothing health properties.
