3 The Kitzbühel Advent Season Christmas like it used to be In the Advent season leading up to Christmas, Kitzbühel s quaint old town offers a special Christmas flair. Locals as well as guests flock to the little alleys of the town to enjoy the nostalgia and tradition of the beautiful Christmas market. Colourful booths line the streets and corners of the 700-year-old town, and the scent of roasted almonds, gingerbread and mulled wine fills the air. Accompanied by the sweet sound of Christmas carols and children s laughter. Advent in Kitzbühel, is Christmas like it used to be. Visit the Kitzbühel Advent from the 30 th of November to the 26 th of December to get infused with Christmas spirit. More than 30 booths offer a variety of local culinary delights as well as finely handcrafted products. See the joy in the children s eyes as they bake shepherd s bread, create Christmas arts & crafts, ride ponies and listen to Christmas stories. 5 Highlights of the Advent programme Advent in Kitzbühel is a magnificent blend of choirs, concerts, readings and nativity plays. Stroll the beautifully illuminated streets and alleys and visit some of the many booths selling local culinary and artistic treasures. Here are some of our event highlights: Thursday, 30 th November, marks the beginning of the festive cycle of Christmas events. The grand opening ceremony of the Kitzbühel Advent with Christmas lights, festive and splendour and joyous music. On Monday, 4 th December, the traditional St Barbara Market and St Barbara celebration will be taking place at the Jochberg exhibition mine with the Jochberg Miner s Band in concert. On Wednesday, 6 th December, from 5.00 p.m., St Nicholas and the angels will be parading the streets with little surprises for good boys and girls. On Thursday, 7 th December, the angelic voices of the Wilten Boys Choir create an extraordinary concert experience. Two concerts one at 4.30 p.m. and one at 6.00 p.m. can be attended free of charge in the Vorderstadt. Monday, 18 th December, 8.00 p.m.: Fans of Marc Pircher will enjoy this special concert with Marc Pircher and the traditional Zillertaler Anklöpfler at the Jochberg Parish Church with Christmas tales told by the Austrian actor Ludwig Dornauer. Free entry! Sunday, 24 th December, Christmas Eve: Starting at a.m., the Light of Peace from Bethlehem will be available at the Christmas market village. Advent highlights. 7 The season of wonder and joy Advent in Kitzbühel spellbinds young and old alike with a programme that makes eyes shine and hearts jump with joy. Every Saturday at 3.00 p.m. fairy Cornelia Mielder turns the Stadtpark into a magic forest with bonfire stories, roast apples, shepherd bread and other Advent traditions. At 5.00 p.m. Uschi Krabichler reads children s Christmas stories in the unique setting of the Kitzbühel Museum. At 5.45 p.m. there is a romantic torchlight walk in and around Kitzbühel. Daily programme: Every day from 3.00 p.m. to, there is pony riding and petting at Stadtpark. Children are welcome to pet, brush and walk the animals. Lamas, donkeys, sheep and bunnies are looking forward to new playmates. A unique children s Christmas art project by the Kitzbühel art school can be admired daily from 3.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. at St Catherine s Church. It s impressive to see what young artists are capable of. A daily highlight not to be missed is the opening of the virtual Advent calendar in Stadtpark at 5.30 p.m. Advent calendars are an integral part of the Austrian Advent tradition. Daily musical inspiration is provided by local music bands from 6.00 p.m. to as well as by the beautiful traditional chimes of the St Catherine s Church played by Rosemarie Sathrum at 8.00 p.m. Experience the magic of the Kitzbühel Advent with all your senses! 11 Walkable Advent calendar in Reith The entire village of Reith will turn into a walkable Advent calendar from the 1 th of December until Christmas Eve. Every day a new window will be opened. Visitors can stroll the streets, talk to the locals and enjoy the Christmas spirit radiating from the beautiful Advent calendar images. All 24 windows will remain on display until the 6 th of January 2018.

13 Heavenly Advent at the Rasmushof Taking place at the finish line of the legendary Hahnenkamm ski race course between the 25 th of November and the 23 rd of December, Himmlischer Advent (Heavenly Advent) at the Rasmushof Hotel appeals to all the senses. The area is transformed into a winter wonderland with more than 40 beautifully decorated fir trees adorned with fairy lights and thousands of glittering baubles.
