(858) (214) One last ride out West! Our last Rodeo is in: Crested Butte, CO!!! Come Join the TEAAM! FROM YOUR PRESIDENT Ted Rutherford Greetings fellow American Airlines Ski & Snowboard Team Members.
Hi Gang! Sorry to miss you all in Tahoe; it sounds like you all had fun and kicked butt! I did some recon in Crested Butte, and they are finally getting snow, and will be in great shape by the time we get there in the end of March. The Outer Limits (AKA North Face, Paradise Headwall, ect.) as they called it has finally received enough snow to open up. I talked to the VP of Marketing, and they are psyched to have NAASF back in CB! I also talked to one of the race course managers, Kurt Olsen (from Steamboat, former Ski racer/classmate at Western State). He said that he would take care of us on the race course, and to let him know if we needed anything We are less than 2 weeks away from shoving off for Kitzbühel! Jen and I can t wait to see you all! Very Respectfully, Ted FROM YOUR Vice PRESIDENT Nathan Green Hello Boarders and Skiers, Hello Everyone, Last week at Heavenly was a Win-ter Blast!! Although there was some skepticism regarding snow conditions... the weather was on our side and the temperature remained cold enough to preserve the existing snow. A special thanks to Mike Williams for being a awesome room mom and setting up the team dinner at Harrahs. Also, thanks to all of the participants and supporters/cowbell-ringers of the racing events. FYI, we are in 1st place ahead of United in the race for the 2018 NAASF Cup, but we will need all the participation and support we can get at Crested Butte if we want to win!
support we can get at Crested Butte if we want to win! I want to share with you a few updates on our club business. We have submitted our application for the nonprofit 501c-7 status and are hoping to be approved by this Summer. Our official Club documents are being finalized and will be available on the website for your scrutiny prior to the Crested Butte NAASF event. We have 2 voting events coming up and the results will be announced Tuesday night at the Crested Butte Club Dinner March 27th. Your participation is desired due to the importance of these two elections. 1. Vice President Your Board of Directors has nominated Bob Antal (current B team Captain) to be on the ballot as Vice President. If you want to nominate yourself or someone please submit via to Greg Gilger prior to March 5th to be included on the Ballot. (Remember this is a 2 year commitment in that the following year is an automatic move to President. Also, if you nominate someone else, please get a confirmation that they will be willing to serve). 2. Spirit of American Award The Tuck Keleher Award This is an award the club gives every year since 2001 to an individual who has displayed above and beyond dedication to the club. Please submit your nominations for both Vice President and Spirit of American Award to Greg Gilger by March 5th. The reason we need your nominations by March 5th is because we will be using a online voting process this year. We want to give all club members an opportunity to vote. By voting online all members will be able to vote regardless whether you will be in attendance at
will be able to vote regardless whether you will be in attendance at Crested Butte or not. If you have paid your dues this year, you will be given instructions to the ballot site and sign in info via after March 12th. Online voting will be open March 14th - March 25th. Its been a great year so far... good ski conditions, a great group of newcomers, and great expectations for Kitzbühel and Crested Butte. See Ya in Austria... Prost!! NATHAN FROM YOUR Crested Butte Room Mom Jana Sinn So, Jana was busy practicing her texting and driving techniques the other day so when she sent me the Room Mom information it came in bubbles. Here s what I have. Ed. (Jana says:) Crested Butte is going to be Epic, everyone should attend! All the information is on the Website under Ski Weeks Crested Butte. (Smiley Face) (Jana says:) Remember from Gunnison and Montrose there are the Alpine Shuttles and the CB Shuttles. For drivers, there is a $20 parking fee per day at the Mountaineer Lodge. (Smiley Face) (Jana says:) The TEAAM Dinner this year will be at Secret Stash Pizza, a kind of Hippie place, so everyone should wear Hippie style clothing for a far out dinner and to make it fun. Cost will be $30 per person. 6:30 Cocktails, 7:30 Dinner. You can prepay on the website using Paypal, use Nathan s new credit card slider thing at the door, or just bring cash. (Smiley Face)
(Jana says:) Don t forget the annual Tuck Kelleher bitch party which will be in the parking lot Wednesday apre ski again this year. Bring stuff. (Smiley Face) (Jana says:) The theme Party for Wednesday night is going to be The Great Gatsby so figure that out. (Smiley Face) (Jana says:) Thursday will be the Annual End of the Year Roast party after skiing, so make sure to get perenial host Jim Chicken Man all your dirt ASAP. That s it for now, text me if you have any questions. (Smiley Face) (Jana says:) YIKES! (Frowny Face) FROM YOUR "A" Team Captain Mike Williams Bjorn, KJ, and Mark scored some nice points for the A men. We only
Bjorn, KJ, and Mark scored some nice points for the A men. We only had one participant for the women. Louise!!! Without her we would have a very small lead for the A cup. Thanks Louise! Delta beat us for the week Overall we have a large lead but without participation the lead can shrink quickly. We need more than one A women racer at Crested Butte. Greg Performed admirably for his first race in the A bracket and our other new A Racer needs to know how to go thru the first gate, just jabbing you Craig. Crested Butte has lots of snow and I know that it is hard to get Kitzbuhel and Crested Butte off in the same month, but we need all skiers to show up if they can. Let s all have fun in Kitzbuhel and Crested Butte. SKI FAST GO TEAAM... Mike FROM YOUR "B" Team Captain Bob Antal WOW!!! Great showing by B TEAAM skiers! Heavenly at Tahoe turned out to be a challenging venue, and the course conditions held up very well for both GS and Slalom. For our ladies, Jana Sinn, Laurie Hanson and Carol Kerr turned in stellar performances. Julie Molano continues to improve at each event! Our men were outstanding as well, led by Jim Hershey(bar), Eric Kowalski, Nathan Green(our VP), Rick Reinsch, Don Oakes, Steve Amoia, me, John Quinn, John Baldwin, and Larry Stubbs. We are stoked to have new racers: Jeff Burrows and Rick Morgan. Ron
stoked to have new racers: Jeff Burrows and Rick Morgan. Ron Hyslop rounded us out with a strong effort. By the way, Jim Hershey(bar) skied to an excellent 2nd place in both GS and Slalom! Congratulations Sir! Jana Sinn roared to 2nd in the GS races for the ladies! Congratulations Jana! If you re interested (as I am) in becoming a better skier and faster racer, included are a couple of book titles which are very helpful: The Athletic Skier by Warren Witherell and Ultimate Skiing by Ron LeMaster. They re available on Amazon. Both books are well illustrated with great coaching tips. Additionally, there s a plethora of videos on YouTube regarding Slalom and GS training. If you d like links to some of those, please shoot me an . Following the international event in Austria, Crested Butte will be our final race of the season, I hope you can make it. Crested Butte is a fantastic mountain with friendly people and a cool Western ski town. Yahoo!! Bob FROM YOUR Snowboard Captain Eric Bergman HV Results: Great job Hollie L. with a 2nd place finish, and Jim T., Dennis M., Tom S., and Ron S. all scored points for the TEAAM! Go get em Shredders!
FROM YOUR Uniform Co- Ordinator Jim Hershey Hi skiers and boarders.. Hope everyone had a great "off season"! We have a few of the new hats available. These hats will be for sale at Crested Butte for $15 each. If anyone wants to place an order for a AA Team Jacket the deadline to place your order is March 20th.
