This year s championship will feature six teams and be held Feb in Atlanta. Preliminaries will be conducted in the morning with the finals in the evening. Last year, the team earned all-conference honors with a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley and a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Senior Bianca Bocsa and sophomore Sydney Buckley return from that 400-yard medley relay team. Bradley, Scheck Sweep Final C-USA Weekly Awards The honors continue to roll in for the North Texas swimming and diving program this season, as the Mean Green swept the season s final Conference USA Swimming and Diving Awards. Freshman Rebekah Bradley won her second consecutive Conference USA Swimmer of the Week award, while junior Samantha Scheck won her first career Conference USA Diver of the Week award. It s the school s first sweep of the league s weekly awards this season and the second in school history. North Texas Earns Scholar All-America Honors The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced that North Texas was one of 547 teams to be selected as a Scholar All-America Team for the fall semester, an honor that the program has received each year since The North Texas women combined to record a 3.55 team grade point average, tied for 15th nationally among Division I programs that earned Scholar All-America honors, first among schools in the state of Texas and second among Conference USA schools. Making The Cut Freshman Rebekah Bradley and sophomore Claudia Kitching have combined to post five NCAA B cuts this season. Kitching holds the overall fastest and three of the fastest four times, all NCAA B qualifying times, in the 200 breaststroke in Conference USA. Her best time was a 2:13.51 at the Phill Hansel Invitational in. Bradly holds the third-fastest time in the 100 backstroke in Conference USA this season, posting an NCAA B qualifying time of of at the pre-conference time trial in Mansfield, and the second-fastest time in the 200 backstroke, posting an NCAA B qualifying time of 1:58.03 in the dual meet against SMU. A trio of sophomores Sarah Vaisse (100-yard breaststroke), Claudia Kitching (200-yard breaststroke) and Caroline Culpepper (200-yard butterfly) each hold the fastest time in their respective events in the league this season. North Texas also holds the second-fastest times in the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay this season. 3 program s 16-year history. Brendon Bray enters his third season at North Texas, having led the Mean Green to consecutive fifth-place finishes at the Conference USA Championships. He guided the Mean Green to a 4-4 record in , including a 3-1 start, the best start in the The team earned all-conference honors in the 400 medley relay and 400 IM. Seniors Krista Rossum and Mona Groteguth set three program records and notched NCAA B-qualifying times in five events. Rossum s program-best marks came in the 200 IM (2:00.35) and 400 IM (4:15.22) in consecutive days at the C-USA meet, while Groteugth claimed the 200 backstroke record (1:56.20) at Incarnate Word s Christmas Invitational. In , the team s first season in C-USA, Mean Green swimmers set four program records and achieve NCAA B-qualifying times in three events. Rossum originally broke the school record in the 400 individual medley at the Invitational and then went on to break it again at the conference championships finishing with a 4:16.95 time. Groteguth set program records in the 100 backstroke (54.02) and 200 backstroke (1:56.62), accomplishing both feats at the Invitational. On the boards, Catherine Johnson and Rebecca Taylor qualified and competed at their third straight NCAA Zone D diving championships. Outside of the pool, the Mean Green have received the Spring Scholar All-America Team Award for having one of the top GPA s in the nation in Division I women s swimming and diving in each of the last two seasons. Rossum and Groteguth have also been named to the Conference USA All-Academic team in each of the last two seasons, with Rossum receiving the Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in swimming and diving in each of the last two seasons. Bray arrived at North Texas from San Diego State, he served as the associate head coach for the Aztecs while they achieved a peak dual meet ranking of No. 23 in the country by the CSCAA. After his promotion to associate head coach, SDSU compiled a 26-1 dual meet record and became an annual participant at the NCAA Championships. Bray helped coach all 13 individual NCAA championship participants including five honorable All-American performances, which represented both the first individual and relay points scored by SDSU at the NCAA Championships. Before his tenure at SDSU, the program had finished last at the conference meet for five straight seasons, and in four seasons, helped the team to their first Mountain West Championship in 2011, and then repeated as league champions in In his six seasons at San Diego State, He coached three MWC Swimmers of the Year and helped the Aztecs break school records in every swimming and diving event in his six seasons.
