Despite two indiviudal wins and several season bests, North Texas came up short at Rice by a score of on Friday afternoon. The Mean Green bounced back Saturday morning, winning 10 of the 16 events and defeating by a score of The win over was also just the fifth in school history. Individually, freshman Natalia Kwiatkowska, senior Bianca Bocsa, sophomore Sydney Buckley and sophomore Sarah Vaisse each won individual events and posted season-best times. Mean Green Falls At Texas A&M The North Texas swwimming and diving team hit the road for its first true road meet of the season, traveling to College Station to take on Texas A&M, a team ranked No. 5 in the CSCAA Coaches poll and No. 16 in the College Swimming Team Rankings. The Mean Green picked up nine second-place finishes and 11 third-place finishes, setting several personal bests and team bests, but they were no match for the nationally-ranked Aggies, coming up short by a score of North Texas Splits First Dual Meets Coming off a second-place finish at the North Texas Relays, the Mean Green swimming and diving team hosted and Liberty in its first dual meets of the season in a double-dual meet format on Saturday morning. North Texas went 1-1, defeating, , and falling to Liberty, The Mean Green picked up wins in the 200-yard freestyle and in the three-meter diving competition against both opponents, and eight wins against and two more against Liberty. SMU won the meet with an overall score of 404, with in third (314) and Little Rock in fourth (164). The team of senior Bianca Bocsa, freshman Natalia Kwiatkowska and junior Ash Stone won the 300 backstroke relay (2:52.82), while an all-newcomer team of sophomore Claudia Kitching, freshman Kathleen Rousset and freshman Meaghan Rousset won the 300 breaststroke relay (3:18.97). Abercrombie Earns Second Consecutive C-USA Honor For the second time in her career, senior Jasmine Abercrombie earned Conference USA Diver of the Week honors for her performance against and Liberty. She picked up right where she left off last season, winning the last week s (Feb. 10, 2015) diver award and first week s (Oct. 13, 2015) diver award in consecutive seasons. The only diver to finish in the top three of both diving competitions, Abercrombie picked up a win over Liberty in the one-meter competition (230.25), placing second overall among divers from all three teams. Abercrombie also finished second-place overall to teammate Samantha Scheck in the three-meter competition (244.13). Murdock Joins Staff Mark Murdock joins the North Texas coaching staff as diving coach after spending the last three seasons as thediving coach at Northern Colorado, where he coached three NCAA Zone Diving Qualifiers and most recently was named the Western Athletic Conference diving coach of the year and coached the conference diver of the year. In his three seasons as an assistant, he had three divers qualify for the NCAA Zone Meet. He also helped guide Northern Colorado to a program-best third-place finish at the conference championships this past spring. Among The League's Best Through five meets, North Texas boasts a strong presence among the best in Conference USA. Sophomore Claudia Kitching has posted the two fastest times in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:18.62 mark at Texas A&M and a 2:19.62 mark at. Fellow sophomore Sarah Vaisse has posted the two fastest times in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:03.90 mark at and a 1:14.17 mark at Rice. Senior Bianca Bocsa is also the league s second-best performer in the 50 freestyle (23.99) and 100 freestyle (51.97). On the boards, junior Samantha Scheck is the league s sixth-best performer on the both the 1-meter (233.03) and 3-meter ) Winning Time In , North Texas notched 40 individual wins and eight relay wins. Returnees combined for 15 individual wins, led by Isabelle Morris with four individual wins, two in the 200 yard freestyle and one each in the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyle. 3 program s 16-year history. Brendon Bray enters his third season at North Texas, having led the Mean Green to consecutive fifth-place finishes at the Conference USA Championships. He guided the Mean Green to a 4-4 record in , including a 3-1 start, the best start in the The team earned all-conference honors in the 400 medley relay and 400 IM. Seniors Krista Rossum and Mona Groteguth set three program records and notched NCAA B-qualifying times in five events. Rossum s program-best marks came in the 200 IM (2:00.35) and 400 IM (4:15.22) in consecutive days at the C-USA meet, while Groteugth claimed the 200 backstroke record (1:56.20) at s Christmas Invitational. In , the team s first season in C-USA, Mean Green swimmers set four program records and achieve NCAA B-qualifying times in three events. Rossum originally broke the school record in the 400 individual medley at the Invitational and then went on to break it again at the conference championships finishing with a 4:16.95 time. Groteguth set program records in the 100 backstroke (54.02) and 200 backstroke (1:56.62), accomplishing both feats at the Invitational. On the boards, Catherine Johnson and Rebecca Taylor qualified and competed at their third straight NCAA Zone D diving championships. Outside of the pool, the Mean Green have received the Spring Scholar All-America Team Award for having one of the top GPA s in the nation in Division I women s swimming and diving in each of the last two seasons. Rossum and Groteguth have also been named to the Conference USA All-Academic team in each of the last two seasons, with Rossum receiving the Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in swimming and diving in each of the last two seasons. Bray arrived at North Texas from San Diego State, he served as the associate head coach for the Aztecs while they achieved a peak dual meet ranking of No. 23 in the country by the CSCAA. After his promotion to associate head coach, SDSU compiled a 26-1 dual meet record and became an annual participant at the NCAA Championships. Bray helped coach all 13 individual NCAA championship participants including five honorable All-American performances, which represented both the first individual and relay points scored by SDSU at the NCAA Championships. Before his tenure at SDSU, the program had finished last at the conference meet for five straight seasons, and in four seasons, helped the team to their first Mountain West Championship in 2011, and then repeated as league champions in In his six seasons at San Diego State, He coached three MWC Swimmers of the Year and helped the Aztecs break school records in every swimming and diving event in his six seasons.
