2 ear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the St ary s Junior Swimming carnival. The focus of our day is the enjoyment of physical activity. In keeping with this focus the students are able to participate in a number of events which cater to their varying levels of ability. These events range from 50m individual strokes to 12.5m with assistance of a board and/or an adult. To provide a challenge for those students capable of swimming the longer distances (50m and 25m) we encourage competition. These competitive events will be judged on correct stroke and speed. The first, second and third place getters will receive a ribbon for their efforts. No age trophies will be given. The students swimming in the 12.5m events with or without assistance will receive a ribbon to acknowledge their effort and participation. Students have nominated for each of the events with the assistance of their teachers and swimming instructors. We appreciate the support and encouragement you offer to the students and staff by attending the carnival as spectators. To facilitate the marshalling of children and to encourage team spirit we would like the students to sit as a group on the school side of the pool. If you would like to talk to your child/ren we would appreciate if you came to visit them on the student side of the pool. The order of the day will be as follows: 50m, 25m, 12.5m freestyle 50m, 25m, 12.5 breast stroke 50m, 25m, 12.5m backstroke 50m, 25m, 12.5 butterfly Novelty rotations Free swim (depending on time) Each event will run oldest to youngest.
