1 rd Annual Jill Griesse Memorial Invitational May 20 & 21, 2017 Held under the sanction of USA Swimming Ohio Swimming Sanction # OH-17LC-17 Welcome The Pau Hana Swim Team is pleased to be hosting the 3 rd Annual Jill Griesse Memorial Invitational May 20 &21, This meet is held in the honor of Jill Griesse and her many contributions to swimming and the lives she touched through her coaching career and other activities. In addition to Jill s memory, the meet will benefit the National Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation. We have donated over $12,000 to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation in Jill's honor the past two invites. Meet Staff Meet Director Meet Referee Keith & Christie DeVore Pam Birnbrich kdevore@pauhanaswimteam.com pbirnbrich@gmail.com Entry Chair Anissa Kanzari kanzari.anissa@gmail.com Pool Location Facility Denison University Trumbull Aquatic Center 200 Livingston Drive Granville, Ohio The Denison University Trumbull Aquatic Center features a 9-lane, 50 meter long by 25 yard wide competition course, a large diving well for warm-up and warm-down; and seating for just over 750 spectators. The aquatics center includes locker rooms and state-of-the-art timing system. The competition course has been certified in accordance with C(4). Copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. The competition water depth is measured at, or greater than, a distance of 3 feet ½ inches (1.0 meter) to 16 feet 5 inches (5.0 meters) from both end walls. Admission/Heat Sheets In lieu of an admission charge the Pau Hana Swim Team will accept donations at the door to add to our contribution to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Heat Sheets will be available for purchase. Meet Format The meet will be conducted in Long Course Meters in Accordance with all USA and Ohio Swimming rules. The meet will be timed finals. Flyover starts will be used at the discretion of the meet referee. It is the intent of the meet host to provide all swimmers the opportunity to compete in age-appropriate events. A third distance session will be offered in order to provide opportunities for all swimmers.

2 Warm Up Schedule Warm Up schedule may be adjusted once entries are received. Saturday Sunday 13 & Over-AM 7-8:20 am 13 & Over-AM 7-8:20 am Meet Start: 8:30 am Meet Start: 8:30 am 12 & Un- PM 1-2:00 pm 12 & Un- PM 1-2:00 pm Meet Start 2:15 pm Saturday - Distance 30 minutes after the PM Session Meet Start 2:15 pm Sunday - Distance 30 minutes after the PM Session Entry Limits Swimmers are limited to a maximum of 4 individual events per day. Entries will be accepted in either LCM or SCY times. LCM times will be seeded first (fastest), followed by SCY. NT entries will not be accepted. Please estimate an entry time. Entry Submission All teams must submit entries by Hy-tek or compatible electronic format. Entries should be accompanied by an entry report and summary in either MS-Word or pdf format. A fee summary sheet located at the end of meet packet should be included as well. The meet host may limit entries based on the number of athletes. Entries will accepted beginning at noon on Monday, May 1 st, 2017 EST. Entries received prior to this date and time will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until the meet reaches capacity or through May 8, 2017, which ever comes first. Teams not accepted due to entry limitations will also be notified. Payments of Entries Please do not send payment until you have received confirmation your entries have been accepted. Payments must be made no later than Monday, May 15, Make checks payable to Pau Hana Swim Team or PHST Checks should be sent to: Teresa Fightmaster 939 City Park Ave Columbus, Ohio Outreach Swimmers Entry fees will be waived for swimmers designated as Outreach by Ohio Swimming if they are declared on the Fee Summary Sheet that must be turned in at the time of entries. Fees may be waived at the discretion of the meet director if the required post meet paperwork and fees have not been submitted to Ohio Swimming.

3 Meet Rules The meet will be conducted under the rules of USA Swimming and Ohio Swimming Inc. All participating swimmers, officials, and coaches on deck must be members in good standing with USA Swimming. No swimmer will be allowed to compete unless they are a member of USA Swimming as provided in Article 202. USA Swimming registration will NOT be available at the meet. All officials and coaches must have available their current year s USA Swimming membership card (or electronic deck pass) while on deck. Deck changes are prohibited. All USA Swimming rules will be enforced during the competition. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms. Under no circumstances are cameras or any other recording device allowed in the area immediately behind the starting blocks at either end of the racing course(s) while they are in use for race starts during the competition and warm up. Please refer to the Safe Sport section on the Ohio Swimming website (swimohio.com), policies and procedures for further information regarding the use of visual recording devices. Disability Warm-up Procedure Positive Check-In Pau Hana welcomes swimmers with disabilities to participate in this meet. The meet director requests the following: 1- athlete s coach provides advance notice of necessary accommodations; 2- list in the with entry submission the swimmer names(s), entry times, stroke/distance, days/sessions. Preferred seeding in with the swimmer s age group in either the same distance or a longer distance race (i.e. 50 free during the 100 free). Exceptions to this procedure should be addressed in the necessary accommodations. For more information, please see Athletes>Adaptive Swimming on the Ohio Swimming website (swimohio.com) All USA Swimming and Ohio Swimming safety guidelines and procedures will be in effect at this meet. Swimmers must enter the water feet first, with one hand on the deck in a cautious manner, except in lanes that have been declared for one-way sprints. At the discretion of the Meet Director and the Meet Referee, warm ups may be assigned by lane and time-slot based on the number of entries. Positive check-in will occur for the Distance Session only. Positive check in will close 30 minutes after the start of the 12 & under PM session. Positive check-in will be located on deck next to the administrative table. Deck Entries Clerk-of-Course Awards Deck entries will be accepted where space is available. No new heats will be added. Swimmers who wish to deck enter MUST be members of USA Swimming. There will not be an opportunity to register for USA Swimming membership at the meet. Deck entry fees will be double what the published entry fees for the meet. There will not be a clerk-of-course for the meet. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to be present for their events. Age 12 & Under: Places 1-8 custom medals, 9-16 custom ribbons In lieu of awards for ages 13 & over a monetary donation will be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation. High point age-group awards will be given to 14 & under age groups Team awards will be given to places 1-3

4 Scoring Individual Events: Safety Policy It is expected that swimmers will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner that is respectful of the venue and represents their club and USA Swimming in a positive light. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that all minor spectators are well behaved and under supervision at all times. Any swimmer or spectator acting in an inappropriate manner will be reported to their coach and or parent for disciplinary action that may include removal from the meet and facility. Any swimmer, or spectator, caught damaging or defacing property will be barred from the meet and the appropriate remedies for damages will be pursued. It is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries due to anyone during the conduct of the event. Officials/Timers If your team has parents who are officials that would like to work the meet please contact Meet Referee Pam Birnbrich (pbirnbrich@gmail.com). Volunteer timers are also appreciated. Swimmers participating in the third distance session are asked to provide their own timers. Meet Vendor Parking Results Aquatic Outfitters of Ohio will be on site at the meet with a great selection of suits, caps, goggles, and other swimming items. Please visit the pauhanaswimteam.com website for a map of area parking at Denison University. Parking close to the facility fills up fast so please plan accordingly. Complete results will be posted on the pauhanaswimteam.com website. Concessions NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK is permitted in the facility. Denison will have concessions available during the meet. Drones Unless approved in writing in advance of the competition by the Vice President of Program Operations, operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present.

In Memory of Jill Griesse This meet is being held in honor of Jill Griesse and her many contributions to swimming and the lives she touched through her coaching career and other activities. One of the happiest times of Jill s life was in 1968 when she founded and coached the Pau Hana Swim Club in Newark, Ohio following her own swim career during which she won both Senior and Junior National Synchronized Swimming Championships. Jill served on the U.S. Olympic Swimming Committee for 18 years and travelled internationally with the Committee. Jill was the recipient of countless awards, including her 1994 election to the Ohio Women s Hall of Fame, the 2007 Licking County Foundation Everett D. Reese Award, the 2011 Granville Good Scout Award, the 2013 Robbins Hunter Women s Board Victoria Woodhull Woman of Distinction and the 2013 Central Ohio Technical College Legends of Loyalty Award. Jill Enriched the lives of everyone she encountered, inspiring each to try a little harder to fulfill their purpose. Considered by many a force of nature, she dreamed up innovative ways to entertain, often fundraising for her favorite causes while sharing pure fun with her friends and family. She left the world a better and more beautiful place, and she was afforded the tremendous opportunity to live her goodbyes with everyone she loved. We are pleased to host this meet in Jill s honor and the legacy she left behind. In addition to Jill s memory, the meet will benefit the National Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation.
