Saturday, Sept p.m. Saturday, Sept p.m. The Pitt women s volleyball team opens Big East play this weekend against Notre Dame and DePaul at Fitzgerald Field House. Pitt will face the Irish, Saturday at 2 p.m. in a CSTV tape delayed broadcast. The Panthers will then meet the Blue Demons on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both games will be available via gametracker at www. PittsburghPanthers.com. Pitt (6-7) is coming off a 3-0 win over Cal State Northridge in the San Diego Invitational, as sophomores Meagan Dooley and Michelle Rossi earned All-San Diego Invitational team honors. The Panthers are led in kills (187), total attacks (477) and aces (11) by junior Kelly Campbell. Additionally Campbell has recorded five double-doubles this season. Notre Dame (4-6) recorded a 3-2 win over No. 22 Santa Clara in its last meeting. The Irish were led by Serinity Philips with a personal-best 18 kills in the contest. The Panthers have won the last two contest against Notre Dame. Coming off a 3-2 loss to Western Illinois this week, DePaul (4-9) is led by Charla Drabant with 175 kills, while Christy Landschoot has recorded 534 assists. Pitt is 5-0 against the Blue Demons. Pitt defeated Cal State Northridge (3-0), while falling to No. 18 to San Diego (3-0) and No. 5 UCLA (3-0). SEEING DOUBLE Four members of the Panthers squad have earned double-doubles this season. First junior Stephanie Ross recorded one in the season opener against Georgia Tech with 12 kills and 10 digs. Since then both senior Diana Andreyko and junior Kelly Campbell have posted multiple double-doubles amongst themselves. The final doubledouble contributor is Nicole Taurence who totaled 35 assists and 11 digs in the George Mason match. PROTECTING TURF The Panthers opened their home slate, winning the Pitt Invitational with three consecutive wins against Geroge Mason (3-1), UAB (3-1) and Buffalo (3-0). This was the first time Pitt won its invitational since 1999, and the first time playing in the championship match since Now 3-0 at home, Pitt hosts its second weekend at the Fitzgerald Field House. ALL-TOURNAMENT TIME Juniors Kelly Campbell and Jessica Moses were named to to alltournament teams the first two weeks of the season. In the first tournament of the season, Campbell was selected to the All-Clarion Inn Invitational team, while Moses was an All-Miami Best Wester Invitational member. ALL-TOURNAMENT TIME PART TWO During the Pitt Invitational, senior Diana Andreyko was deemed the MVP, while juniors Kelly Campbell and Jessica Moses were added to the all-invitational team. Pitt won the tournament and had the most representatives on the all-invitational team. FRESH FACES Pitt added four new faces to its squad this year. Those additions include Emily Burke (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral), Rachel Kalberer (Irwin, Pa./Norwin), Hannah Swysgood (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) and Amy Town (Orillia, Ontario/Orillia). Burke has started as the team s setter in all but one match this season, while Town came off the bench in the Arkansas contest to give the Panthers a lift. TOURNAMENTS ALL AROUND Pitt has played in four back-to-back to-back-to-back tournaments this season. After conference action wraps up in the winter, the Panthers will compete in the Long Beech Tournament. Pitt faces Long Beech State and UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 23 & 24. PITT ON T.V. The Sept. 22 contest against Notre Dame has been selected as an AVCA Match of the Week. CSTV will televise Pitt s 2 p.m. contest that Saturday at Fitzgerald Field House on a tape delayed basis, as one out of a 25-match slate. The match will broadcast at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24. The broadcast crew will include Jason Knapp handling the play-by-play duties, while veteran Anne Marie Anderson will serve as the lead analyst throughout the season. Other analyst for select matches includes Olympic Bronze Medalist Holly McPeak and Tammy Blackburn.

3 PITT S DIANA ANDREYKO NAMED BIG EAST VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (SEPT. 10) PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Pitt senior Diana Andreyko was named Big East Volleyball Player of the Week after an impressive performance during the Panther s 4-0 week, including the team s Pitt Invitational Title run. Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led the Panthers in their third week of action, averaging a.309 hitting percentage and boasting 70 kills in four-straight wins. During the week, she posted two double-doubles. The first was against crosstown rival Duquesne (15 kills, 11 digs) and then later against George Mason (20 kills, 11 digs). Garnering All-Pitt Invitational MVP honors, the team captian led Pitt in kills (55), kills per game (5.0) and total attacks (125) during the two-day tournament. The Panthers (5-5) travel San Diego, Calif. and the University of San Diego for their fourth volleyball tournament of the season. Pitt will face UCLA at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 and host San Diego later at 10 p.m. that evening. Leading the team with 512 assists, she has helped the team to a 29th-place tie for apg in the nation. Pitt is 48th in NCAA standings with a.247 hitting percentage. Holding the 61st slot in hitting percentage, junior Jessica Moses boasts a.365 average. Then, in kills per game, the Panthers are ranked 49th with ROLL CALL Sophomore Meagan Dooley was named to the Big East Conference s weekly honor roll on Sept. 3., after competing in the squad s first weekend of competition. Dooley led the team with 37 kills (tied), a.408 hitting percentage and nine blocks during the Arkansas Clarion Inn Invitational. Against Pepperdine, she recorded 13 kills and posted a.500 hitting clip. LEADING THE CONFERENCE Pitt is ranked second in the Big East with a assists per game average, while freshman Emily Burke is fourth with apg in the league. Sophomore Michelle Rossi is third in the league with 4.91 digs per game. Additionally, junior Jessica Moses is third with a.365 hitting average. ABOVE ALL OTHERS Junior Jessica Moses leads the conference in individual match highs, thanks to her.706 hitting average during the Buffalo contest. In that match she recorded 12 kills of 17 attacks for the Panthers. ON TOP OF THE GAME Pitt was honored as one of the recipients of the GamePlan/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award presented by the AVCA for their achievements in the classroom during the school year. The award was presented to 303 high schools and colleges across the nation, including 55 NCAA Division I schools. Teams are required to excel in the classroom and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale during the school year.
