1 16 LSC TOURNAMENT APPEARANCES 7 NCAA REGIONAL TOURNAMENT BERTHS NCAA ALL-AMERICANS TARLETON AT LONE STAR CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT MAR. 1-4, 018 FRISCO, TX TEXANNS BY THE NUMBERS /TarletonSports Tarleton has THREE PLAYERS AVERAGING DOUBLE FIGURES: Mackenzie Hailey (14.5), Katie Webster (1.9), and McKinley Bostad (1.8). The TexAnns won their second ever LSC tournament championship in program history, and first since 01 a season ago. The TexAnns became the fifth team in LSC history to win multiple tournament championships. Tarleton currenty is the LSC s best team at the charity stripe with a percentage behind the line. The TexAnns have shot 601 free throws this season and have connected on an impressive 460. McKinely Bostad has led the TexAnns at the line shooting at 84%, she ranks second in the conference in this category. The TexAnns and ENMU have faced each other on one other occasion in LSC tournament history. Tarleton won that game on March 1, 01. Tarleton went on to win the tournament that season at the Allen Events Center. This will mark the consecutive year that the TexAnns are the No. 5 seed and second time in their Lone Star Conference Tournament History. This marks the second time in LSC Tournament history that Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico have met in the opening round of the league tournament. TARLETON SPORTS NETWORK A complete radio broadcast of the game can be heard on the Tarleton Sports Network presented by the North Texas Ford Dealers. Tickets are also currently on sale at the Tarleton Ticket Office at (54) TARLETON IN THE TOURNAMENT Tarleton has qualified for the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament for the 16th time since their first trip to the league postseason in 00. It s also the 15th straight season that Tarleton has qualified. The TexAnns have an overall record of 1-13 in 5 games at the LSC Tournament and were crowned champions of the event in 01 and 017, the first and last year the tournament was held in Allen. TARLETON S PATH The TexAnns are the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will open the event against Eastern New Mexico at 6 p.m. Thursday. With a win, the TexAnns will advance to the semifinal round for a showdown against either (1) Angelo State or (8) Texas Woman s on Saturday at :30 p.m. The championship game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday against the winner of the opposite side of the bracket that includes () West Texas A&M, (3) Texas A&M-Commerce, (6) Cameron, and (7) Midwestern State. UP NEXT FOR TARLETON Tarleton will continue playing as long as they win. With a win over Eastern New Mexico on Thursday, the TexAnns would advance to play the winner of Angelo and Texas Woman s. Requests must be submitted on official news outlet letterhead and received at least 4 hours in advance of the game to be covered. The Stephenville Empire-Tribune News and The Flash News receive priority seating. The Tarleton Sports Network and the recognized visiting radio station will be provided broadcast seating. Other reserved seating will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Season credentials will be delivered prior to the first game. Thereafter, credentials may be picked up at the Media Will Call entrance inside Wisdom Gym on the day of the match. PHOTOGRAPHERS All photographers covering a game must display appropriate credentials at all times and are expected to comply with any instructions given by game officials or Tarleton sports information employees. The event will remain on Tuesday s this season to accommodate the Lone Star Conference game schedule, which moved league games to Thursdays and Saturdays last year. The show will be in a 30-minute format and will take place at First Financial Bank in Stephenville. The show is open to the public and refreshments will be provided to the live audience. 9 HEAD COACH MISTY WILSON THE WILSON FILE MISTY When the basketball season begins, Misty Wilson will start her fourth season as the head coach of the Tarleton State TexAnns. Wilson is coming off a breakthrough season as the leader of TexAnn Basketball that culminated in her first-ever championship and appearance in the NCAA regional tournament. Tarleton put together a magical run through the Lone Star Conference Tournament, including a 17-point rally against Angelo State to earn Wilson s first LSC Tournament Championship and an automatic berth into the national playoffs. She started her career with back-to-back 17-win seasons. In her sophomore season as the leader of the program, she earned her first LSC Tournament victory with an overtime win over Texas A&M-Commerce to advance to the semifinal round of the league s postseason tournament making her the fastest head coach to advance to the semifinals in school history. In her first season at the helm, Wilson guided the TexAnns to a record of and a berth in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament. Her 17 wins in her debut season is the most victories by a TexAnn rookie head coach in the NCAA era, topping Ronnie Hearne s 14 wins in his inaugural 003 season. Wilson was named the sixth head coach of the TexAnns following the retirement of 11-year head coach, Ronnie Hearne, at a press conference on March 6, 014. Wilson earned the promotion following a four-year playing and 1-year coaching career as the top assistant for TexAnn basketball. She has seen great success, and helped lead the WILSON VS. Wilson, the sixth-best scorer in Tarleton history, joined the staff in August 00 following a stellar four-year playing career. The Burleson native played in 103 games from 1998 to 001. She scored 1,440 career points and was the season scoring leader three years in a row. She s currently in the top 10 of several Tarleton career categories, ranking as high as second all-time in free throws made and attempted ( ) and steals (36). As a junior she earned a second team All-Lone Star Conference South Division and second team All-South Central Region honors, including first team honors as a senior. In addition, she was the team s Most Valuable Player for three consecutive years. Wilson earned a bachelors and master s degree in exercise and sport s studies from Tarleton. She earned her bachelor s degree in 001 and finished her master s degree in the spring of 004. She lives in Stephenville with her three children: Jade, Mya and Kenna.
