4 SEASON OUTLOOK SEASON INFORMATION Another season, another National Player of the Year that the Pepperdine men s volleyball program must replace, which makes the 2010 campaign a diffi cult one to predict for the aves. The aves have most of their starters back from last year, when they went 22-5, made the fi nal of the Mountain Pacifi c Sports Federation Tournament and ended up ranked #3 by the AVCA. As has been the case throughout Marv Dunphy s coaching career, player development has kept the aves among the nation s best teams. After 2007 Player of the Year Jonathan inder graduated in 2008, Kasey Crider stepped into the setting role and was named an All-American second teamer in Now, Pepperdine will have to replace 2009 Player of the Year Paul Carroll. (Pepperdine has had seven National Players of the Year in the last 12 seasons.) Every team needs to form its own identity, said Dunphy, who has won four NCAA titles in his 26 previous seasons and enters the 2010 season with 491 career wins. e re certainly going to miss a lot of good volleyball from the likes of Matt McKee and Paul Carroll, and the numbers they put up will have to be replaced. e haven t done that yet. The standards that we re familiar with, we didn t meet them in the fall. But we work on them every day. He has a veteran squad back that understands Pepperdine s expectations of success, which includes 13 consecutive years with a top-six ranking at season s end. Of the 11 returning letterwinners, Pepperdine brings back the starting setter KASEY CRIDER SEAN GRUBBS and libero, both middle blockers and one of the outside hitters. Plus, senior outside hitter J.D. Schleppenbach, one of the postseason standouts of the run to the 2008 national championship match, should make his return to the court after redshirting last season and rehabbing from a couple of injuries. Everyone on the team is going to have to carry a bigger load than they did before, said Dunphy, who is assisted by J.J. Riley and David Hunt. They re working hard and trying to do that. Time will tell. Schleppenbach (Ventura, Calif./ Ventura HS) is a three-year starter, but he missed the 2009 season after having shoulder surgery. He s also coming back from a knee injury. The last time he was active, he made the all-tournament teams at both the MPSF and NCAA Championships in 2008, including an average of 4.14 kills in the two NCAA Tournament matches. J.D. isn t quite the same player yet from when we last saw him out there, which was at a pretty high level more than a year ago, Dunphy said. If we can get him back fully healthy, he ll make a big difference. Crider (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS), a junior setter, moved into the starting position last year and earned his All-American award from Volleyball 2010 PEPPERDINE MEN S VOLLEYBALL 2 Magazine after averaging assists, second-best in the nation. He also averaged 2.12 digs and 0.67 blocks and helped Pepperdine to a team hitting percentage of.343. Kasey played a lot of last year not as strong as he wanted to be, Dunphy said. He had some injuries and he had to manage those, but he s now stronger physically. I would look for him to play well and take on a little more of a leadership role. Other setters on the roster are senior Kyle Luongo (Palmdale, Calif./ Highland HS/Pierce CC) and junior Doug Astor (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill HS/ Orange Coast CC). The aves bring back one of the nation s top liberos in senior Sean Grubbs (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor HS/Irvine Valley CC). He averaged 2.04 digs per game over his fi rst two seasons, which ranks third all-time at Pepperdine, and is known for his outstanding passing abilities. He made the All-MPSF honorable mention squad last season. He s good, Dunphy said. All good teams have one thing or a couple of things they re good at, and hopefully we ll be a good passing team. A big part of that is Sean s ability to pass. He has very good volleyball instincts. Additional liberos that are new to the team are junior Brandt Ng (Orinda, CORY RIECKS

5 SEASON OUTLOOK RODNEI SANTOS Calif./Bentley HS/Saint Mary s) and sophomore Michael Kahl (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS). Junior Cory Riecks (Auburn, Calif./Placer HS) joins Schleppenbach as an outside hitter with multiple years of experience in the starting lineup. He was second on the team as a freshman with 3.22 kills and third as a sophomore with 2.56 kills. Cory has been a little inconsistent, but he s had some really good streaks at times, Dunphy said. If we get some more consistent play out of him, he ll be fi ne. He s matured as a volleyball player and I expect he ll carry a big load this season. One of the most improved players on Pepperdine s team is senior outside hitter Brent Schirripa (Los Angeles, Calif./ Crespi Carmelite HS). He averaged 0.87 kills and 1.09 digs and appeared in all 27 matches last year. Brent really played well in several signifi cant matches last year, Dunphy said. He s in the mix for a starting position. I m proud of what he s done to make himself into a good volleyball player. He s as close to reaching his potential as any guy in the program. Sophomore outside hitter Chase Ross (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) is another player that might be ready to take a step forward. He competed at the 2009 FIVB Junior orld Beach Championships in England last summer. Redshirt freshman Beau Vandeweghe (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS), sophomore Trevor Van Uden (Thousand Oaks, Calif./ Thousand Oaks HS) and freshman Joel Lopata (Deerfi eld, Ill./Deerfi eld HS) are SEASON INFORMATION also competing at outside hitter. Pepperdine s returning starters at middle blocker are senior Rodnei Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Campos Salles/ BYU) and junior Tyler Jaynes (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS). Santos sat out his fi rst season at Pepperdine after transferring from BYU, but immediately became a force during the 2009 season. He averaged 2.18 kills while hitting.437, and ranked second in the MPSF and fourth nationally in blocks (1.45). Different circumstances could also see Santos play some at opposite this season. Rodnei has done a very good job as a hitter, Dunphy said. e need to pass the ball well enough to get him the ball. He s probably a better volleyball player than he was a year ago, and that s good. Jaynes is a two-year starter who ranked fourth in the MPSF and sixth nationally in blocks (1.42) in 2009, and also averaged 1.60 kills while hitting.410. Tyler had a good summer, but unfortunately had an injury that kept him out of the fall, Dunphy said. He s a little older, a little wiser, and I expect he ll play a bigger role as a hitter for us. Making a push to break into the starting lineup at middle blocker is sophomore Matt Pollock (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg HS). He appeared in three games and three matches last season and has improved greatly heading into his second year. Matt is working hard, Dunphy said. He s worked hard in the weight room. If he could win one of the middle spots, that BRENT SCHIRRIPA J.D. SCHLEPPENBACH would help our depth and give us some options or different lineups we could use. Senior Patrick Powers (Fort orth, Texas/Country Day HS) is in his fi fth season with the program and also competes among the middle blockers. Replacing a three-time All-American like Carroll and his national-leading 6.36 kills per game won t be possible with just one person. But, the aves do have one of the nation s top recruits lined up to possibly start at opposite this year. Freshman Maurice Torres (Riverside, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) was a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection and has played in the USA youth national team system the past three years. Maurice is expected to do a lot from the start, Dunphy said. It would be great if he serves a ton, hits a ton and blocks a ton. The best parts of his game are serving and hitting. Senior outside hitter Sean Pedersen (Evergreen Park, Ill./Mount Carmel HS/Cal State Northridge) is expected to redshirt this season. He appeared in all 27 matches and 80 games, primarily as a serving specialist, last season (his fi rst at Pepperdine after transferring from CSUN). Pepperdine s 25-match regularseason schedule includes 11 home-andhome series with MPSF opponents. The conference is expected to be extremely competitive this season (the aves were picked fi fth in the preseason coaches poll). For non-conference matches, Pepperdine opens the season at California Baptist and will host Ball State and Grand Canyon later in the year. FIVE-TIME NCAA CHAMPIONS 3

6 MARV DUNPHY HEAD COACH 27TH SEASON PEPPERDINE 74 COACHING STAFF idely recognized as one of the game s premier coaches, Dr. Marv Dunphy has directed Pepperdine to four NCAA men s volleyball titles and is heading into his 27th season as the aves head coach in Dunphy, who holds a career record of (.722), is noted for his highly technical approach to the game and diligent training methods. He was the 2005 National Coach of the Year and is a three-time MPSF Coach of the Year. As a result of his training, 18 different aves have earned 33 All-American fi rst team accolades. Pepperdine players have been named All-Americans 49 times under Dunphy s direction. Six different athletes have gone on to earn National Player of the Year honors in Bob Ctvrtlik (1985), George Roumain (1998, 1999), Brad Keenan (2002, 2003), Sean Rooney (2005), Jonathan inder (2007) and Paul Carroll (2009). No other men s program has had more POTY recipients than Pepperdine since the American Coaches Volleyball Association began issuing the awards in Dunphy has had a long, successful coaching tenure with the U.S. National Team. The American squad maintained a No. 1 world ranking and compiled an impressive overall record of (.864) during his time as coach. Additionally, the team won every major international tournament: the 1985 orld Cup, the 1986 orld Championships, the 1987 Pan American Games and, most importantly, the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. Since then, he has been an assistant coach at the 2000 Olympics and a consultant coach at the 1996, 2004 and 2008 Olympics. Nineteen of his Pepperdine volleyball players have represented the U.S. National Team, with 10 taking part in the Olympics. In 1994, Dunphy was formally recognized for his immense contribution to the sport, as he was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mass. His 1988 Olympic Team was inducted in the fall of He was also put into the AVCA Hall of Fame in December Among his honors from the FIVB (the International Volleyball Federation) are the 1987 Coach of the Year and the 1999 All-Time Great Coaches Award (contemporary division). Also in 1999, he was a fi nalist for the FIVB s Greatest Coach of the Century Award. A native of nearby Topanga Canyon, Dunphy was a middle blocker at Pepperdine during the sport s formative years at the intercollegiate level and earned a bachelor s degree in kinesiology from the university in After completing his athletics eligibility, Dunphy continued his affi liation with the Pepperdine program, serving as an assistant coach to both Harlan Cohen and Burt DeGroot before assuming the head coaching duties in The following season, Dunphy led Pepperdine to its fi rst-ever NCAA team championship, as the aves upended UCLA in fi ve games in Columbus, Ohio, to win the national crown. Dunphy, who earned a master s degree in physical education from USC in 1978, left Pepperdine following the 1978 championship season to obtain his doctorate degree in the same subject area at Brigham Young University. Dunphy completed work for his doctorate in 1981, and then returned to Pepperdine that fall to quickly elevate the program back to national title contention. Pepperdine advanced to the NCAA title match in 1983 and 1984, but the aves were beaten on both occasions by crosstown foe UCLA. However, the tide turned for the fabled Malibu Roofi ng Company in 1985, as Pepperdine rolled to an impressive 25-2 record still tied as the best single-season mark in school history and defeated USC in four games at Pauley Pavilion to capture the NCAA title. The victory proved to be a perfect farewell gift to Dunphy, who took a leave of absence following the 1985 season to immediately began working with the U.S. National Team at its San Diego base. Under Dunphy s watchful eye, the American squad gained international attention, and the 12-man roster (which included former Pepperdine standouts Craig Buck, Bob Ctvrtlik, Jeff Stork and Troy Tanner, three of whom were starters) won the gold medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. Pepperdine captured its third NCAA championship in 1986 without him, but Dunphy returned to the head coaching position in November Upon returning to Malibu, he hit the recruiting trail and once again rebuilt the program. The aves reached the pinnacle in 1992, as the team upset Long Beach State to win the MPSF Tournament and then captured its fourth NCAA crown with an impressive three-game sweep of top-ranked Stanford in Muncie, Ind. In 1998, Pepperdine compiled an impressive 23-5 mark and won the MPSF 2010 PEPPERDINE MEN S VOLLEYBALL 4 PERSONAL Spouse: Su Children: Karen, Alexandra, Dijon Grandchildren: Shay, Trent, Hunter EDUCATION Pepperdine, B.A., 1974 USC, M.A., 1978 Brigham Young, Ed.D., 1981 USA COACHING HIGHLIGHTS record Head coach of 1985 orld Cup champions Head coach of 1987 Pan Am champions Head coach of 1988 Olympic champions 1994 Volleyball Hall of Fame inductee On coaching staff at 4 other Olympics PEPPERDINE HIGHLIGHTS 4 NCAA championships (1978, 1985, 1992, 2005) 7 conference regular-season championships 4 conference tournament championships 2005 NCAA Coach of the Year 3-time MPSF Coach of the Year (2002, 2005, 2007) 8 NCAA Players of the Year 4 NCAA Freshmen of the Year 33 All-American fi rst team selections 49 All-American total selections 7 MPSF Players of the Year 4 MPSF Freshmen of the Year 21 All-MPSF fi rst team selections 41 All-MPSF total selections 69 all-conference recipients 19 USA National Team members 10 Olympic Team members 7 Olympic gold medals (by 6 athletes) 9 Olympic medals (by 6 athletes)

7 COACHING STAFF Tournament with a four-game victory over UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. Unfortunately, UCLA gained its revenge in the NCAA title match, defeating Pepperdine in three games. During the 1999 campaign the aves notched a solid 20-5 mark and senior outside hitter George Roumain was tabbed the AVCA National Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Roumain was a member of the 2000 Olympic Team along with former Pepperdine players Kevin Barnett and Chip McCaw. Dunphy took another 17-month sabbatical in order to serve as an assistant coach with the U.S. National Team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He returned to Pepperdine in October Pepperdine won the 2002 MPSF regular-season title with a 20-2 mark and then proceeded to win the league s postseason tournament for the second time in three years. In 2003, Pepperdine went 24-6 overall, including 19-3 in the MPSF, advanced to the title game of the MPSF Tournament and reached the semifi nals of the NCAA Tournament. There, the aves suffered a hard-fought, fi ve-game setback to eventual national champion Lewis, which later vacated the title. In May of 2003, Dunphy was honored as one of four coaches named to the U.S. Volleyball Association s Men s All-Era Team. Dunphy served the U.S. National Team in a scouting and advisory role during the 2003 orld Cup in Japan. Pepperdine earned its fi fth NCAA title in the program s history in Pepperdine swept Ohio State in the national semifi nals before rallying back from a 2-1 defi cit to defeat UCLA, 3-2, in the championship match at Pauley Pavilion, capping off its 25-2 season. That year Dunphy was selected as National Coach of the Year for the fi rst time in his career. He also earned MPSF Coach of the Year honors for the second time after previously picking up the honor in In 2006, Volleyball Magazine selected Dunphy as one of the 30 Most Recognizable Names in Volleyball. Dunphy earned MPSF Coach of the Year honors again in 2007 as the aves went 26-3 overall, won both the MPSF regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in school history. During fall 2007, Dunphy rejoined the U.S. National Team for the orld Cup in Japan, where he served as team leader. The 2008 aves made one of their most unexpected runs to the national championship match, as they began the postseason as the #5 seed in the MPSF Tournament, but won the event with three straight wins away from home. Pepperdine knocked off Long Beach State in the NCAA semifi nals before falling to Penn State in the championship. The aves fi nished with a record of and a #2 national ranking. Dunphy was a member of the coaching staff for the 2008 U.S. Olympic squad, which made a remarkable run to the gold medal. One of his former All-Americans, Sean Rooney, was a player on the team. The 2009 squad was one point away from making another NCAA Championships appearance before falling in the MPSF Tournament fi nal to USC in fi ve games. The aves ended the season with a 22-5 record and a #3 national ranking. A popular instructor for Pepperdine University s sports medicine department, Dunphy resides in the Decker Canyon area of Malibu with his wife Su. The couple has two daughters, Karen and Alexandra, and one son, Dijon. Alexandra is currently serving as the Pepperdine director of men s volleyball operations. Marv and Su also have three grandchildren, Hunter, Shay and Trent. THE ORD ON MARV DUNPHY... Not only is Marv Dunphy one of the fi nest coaches of the sport of volleyball, but he is the kind of person any parent would love to have their youngster in his program. He is more interested in his player s life after volleyball than he is in their success in the sport itself. John ooden, Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Marv is a fi rst-class guy. He always has good input; he is very reliable and very dignifi ed and knowledgeable. He really is an all-around good guy. Al Monaco, President USA Volleyball Marv is one of the most respected coaches in the country. He has a unique passion for teaching and boundless energy. He enjoys working one-on-one with players to develop their skills and never stops teaching. Dr. Doug Beal, CEO USA Volleyball Marv is a wonderful friend and when he is your friend, he is a friend for life. He honestly cares about you and your well-being. There is a wonderful presence about him and his presence is very commanding. Marv comes from a great volleyball background and is a marvelous volleyball coach. Dr. Carl McGown, Former U.S. National Coach One of the greatest things about Marv is the way he carries himself. He is a very classy guy with integrity who is always poised. He is a great example for those going into his program. I believe Marv is the best coach in college volleyball and was why I chose to go to Pepperdine. He is a straightforward guy who is honest with his players. If you trust him and listen to what he has to say, he can take you to the top like he did with us in Dain Blanton, Former Player and Olympic Gold Medalist e used to call him the maker of men. Marv has great leadership qualities and we as players looked up to him as a mentor, not just in volleyball, but in life as well. e made a commitment to a higher standard and could look to him as an example of that standard. 8 J.J. RILEY ASSISTANT COACH 2ND SEASON PEPPERDINE 99 COACHING STAFF Former Pepperdine All-American setter J.J. Riley has returned to Malibu as an assistant coach with the men s volleyball team in This will be his second stint with the aves. Riley was part of Pepperdine s team as a student-athlete for fi ve seasons ( ) and was a Volleyball Magazine All-American second team selection in 1998, when Pepperdine reached the title match at the NCAA Championships. The aves won the Mountain Pacifi c Sports Federation Tournament title in 1998 with Riley setting. He set the Pepperdine record for career assists with 3,788 and now stands third on that list. During the sideout scoring era, he had the third and fourth-highest single-season assist totals in school history (1,634 in 1999 and 1,406 in 1998). His total of assists per game in the 1999 season is the second-best fi gure in Pepperdine history. After graduating from Pepperdine in 1999 with a degree in physical education, he was an assistant coach with the men under Jeff Stork for the 2000 season, then was an assistant with Nina Matthies and the women s team for three years ( ). The women s program had its best-ever result in 2002 by reaching a regional fi nal in the NCAA Tournament. Most recently, Riley lived in Bend, Ore., where he ran a personal training business called Central Oregon Plyometrics for adults and elite athletes. He also founded a non-profi t volleyball club, Oregon Volleyball Academy, where he directed 16 teams and was head coach of the 18-1 team. He served as the varsity girls head coach at Summit High School in Bend for three years, which included the school s fi rst-ever state tournament appearance and a sixth-place fi nish in He has also coached with the Oregon Suns and Sports Shack club programs. In addition to his coaching background, he is an NESTA certifi ed strength and conditioning coach and is SAQ (strength, agility, quickness) certifi ed. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, he graduated from Punahou High School in He was an all-state volleyball player and helped Punahou to two state championships. He won gold, silver and bronze medals at Junior Olympics. He is married to former Pepperdine women s volleyball player Emily (Rothman) Riley, who is a 2002 graduate. They reside in Newbury Park. DAVID HUNT ASSISTANT COACH 1ST SEASON UCLA 08 Now in his third season working with the Pepperdine men s volleyball program, David Hunt was elevated to the position of assistant coach prior to the 2010 season. He was the team s video coordinator and a volunteer assistant the past two years. As a fulltime assistant, his duties will include fi lm exchange, preparing scouting reports, recruiting, travel and summer camps. During his fi rst two seasons with Pepperdine, the aves garnered a (.705) overall record. The team won the 2008 MPSF Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA championship match. In 2009, the aves again competed for an MPSF Tournament championship. In the fall of 2008, Hunt was selected to travel with the U.S. Men s National Team to the Pan American Cup in Cuiaba, Brazil, where he was the technical coordinator. Prior to joining Pepperdine, Hunt worked at Harvard-estlake High School as an assistant to former Pepperdine assistant coach Adam Black. The pair led the team to a state championship in Hunt has also coached at the Marv Dunphy Volleyball Camp for three years, and has participated in Gold Medal Squared coaching clinics across the United States since Hunt graduated from UCLA in 2008 with a bachelor s degree in history. A native of Glendale, Calif., he is currently pursuing a master s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia. 28 VOLLEYBALL HISTORY 2005 CHAMPIONS Front Row (L-R): Corey Spencer, Steve Smith, James Ka, John Mayer, Sam Kim, Arist de olff, Tanner Sutherland, Tyler Haupert, Eric Liebert and Brad Carter. Back Row (L-R): Max de olff, Jon Grobe, John Parfitt, Sean Rooney, Andy Hein, Tom Hulse, Jonathan inder, Alex Castillo and Brent Smith. If the 1985 team is considered the best Pepperdine team ever, the 2005 followed the same blueprint for building a successful team. The 2005 team resembled its 20-year predecessor, ending the season with the same 25-2 overall record, posted a 15-match win streak, was known as being one of the top blocking teams in the nation and won the national title at UCLA s Pauley Pavilion. ith AVCA National Player of the Year Sean Rooney picking apart opponents at will and freshman Jonathan inder setting the team to a.358 hitting percentage, Marv Dunphy coached the aves to the program s fifth national title and his fourth in as many decades. In the championship match, Pepperdine rallied back from down 2-1 to force a fifth and final game. In the deciding game, the aves jumped out to an 8-1 lead before handing the Bruins their first postseason loss at Pauley Pavilion. Rooney was tabbed the tournament s Most Outstanding Player, while John Parfitt and Tom Hulse were selected to the all-tournament team. Though the institutions range from the pine forests of Eastern ashington to the sun-drenched beaches of Southern California, the combined excellence in academics and athletics sets the conference apart on the national scene and draws the individual institutions together in a common mission. The CC sponsors championships in baseball, men s and women s basketball, men s and women s cross country, men s and women s golf, women s rowing, men s and women s soccer, men s and women s tennis and women s volleyball. Originally chartered as the California Basketball Association, the five-team league included Pacific, Saint Mary s, San Francisco, San Jose State and Santa Clara, and the firstever men s basketball game was played January 2, After three seasons of play under that name, the conference expanded to include Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine in 1955, and became known as the est Coast Athletic Conference in The name was shortened in The current alignment of Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University, University of Portland, Saint Mary s College, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco and Santa Clara University has remained unchanged since 1979, making the CC the third-most stable athletic conference in the nation. Only the Ivy League and the Pacific-10 Conference have been together longer. omen s sports were incorporated into the CC prior to the season, and the league has made steady improvements in several sports, particularly basketball, soccer and volleyball. Since joining the CC prior to the season, Pepperdine has claimed 129 CC regular-season team championships in the following sports: baseball (17), men s basketball (12), women s basketball (4), men s golf (16), women s golf (11), women s soccer (1), men s tennis (40), women s tennis (21) and women s volleyball (10). Additionally, the men s and women s basketball team have each won the league s postseason tournament three times. The baseball team has won the CC Championship Series four times. The league relocated its headquarters in the summer of 1998 to San Bruno near the San Francisco International Airport. The CC hired Jamie Zaninovich as its commissioner in March MPSF The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation was established during the academic year to serve the competitive needs of member institutions from the Big est, Pacific-10, Mountain est, estern Athletic and est Coast Conferences and other selected universities in the western United States; and to provide championship competition for Division I intercollegiate Olympic sports in a conference setting. The MPSF was originally formed to provide enhanced competition and championship opportunities for sports without conference affiliation; to contain the costs of competition; and to ensure the survival of sports impacted by Title IX and other fiscal pressures. The Federation has served as an incubator for emerging women s sports and as a safe harbor for sports impacted by conference realignments. In men s volleyball, the aves have won five regular season and four tournament titles. Pepperdine competes against BYU, Cal State Northridge, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Pacific, Stanford, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and USC. MPSF schools have won 14 of the 17 NCAA men s volleyball championships since the conference was created (including one by Pepperdine). In men s water polo, the aves have won two regular-season crowns. Pepperdine competes against California, Long Beach State, Pacific, Stanford, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara and USC. MPSF schools have won all 17 NCAA men s water polo championships since the conference was created (including one by Pepperdine). PCSC Pepperdine has been a member of the Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference for more than 20 years. The PCSC has allowed a number of swimming programs of all shape and size NCAA Division I, II and III and the NAIA who are not affiliated with a major conference to come together and participate at a championship meet. The aves swim against Alaska- Fairbanks, Biola, California Baptist, Cal State East Bay, Chapman, Concordia, Fresno Pacific, Loyola Marymount, Northern Colorado, Seattle, Soka, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz. Pepperdine has always been among the top programs in the PCSC and tied its best-ever finish with a second-place showing in 2008.
