1 Victims of reported disappearances and alleged extrajudicial and unlawful killings in istan, 24 October - 20 February The information presented below is based on reports that Amnesty International has received from civil society groups and credible media reports, since our latest press release of 26 October, highlighting the issue of murder and torture of activists. Amnesty International has not been able to corroborate the details of each incident. However, we look to the Pakistan government to conduct credible, impartial and transparent investigation into each allegation. The emerging trends of alleged human rights violations in istan are disturbing. As demonstrated by the below graphs, the reported disappearances and killings of activists in the recent months have increased. People who previously were reported missing were later found killed and their bodies allegedly bore marks of torture. 4 7 Hamid Issazai Kalat On 3 February his bullet-riddled body was found in the Ferozabad area of district along with the dead bodies of two others. On 15 January his bulletriddled body was discovered in the Soraab area of Kalat district: he was reportedly hit from a close range by a single bullet in the head that caused his death and allegedly bore torture marks. Kalat His body was found under a bridge on Highway in Singdaas area of Kalat around 15 January. Mastung 19 Nov Teacher Nemargh 07-Oct- Mastung Kalat city, Nemargh Cross His dead body was recovered from Mastung on 12 December ; he had been strangled to death and his body allegedly bore torture marks. Organization Lashkar Shuhda-e-istan had reportedly accepted responsibility, as stated on a letter found in the victim's pocket. On 1 December his mutilated body was recovered from Raje in Kalat district. His face and body had been reportedly doused with acid. 15 8 Ayub Gichki s sons 9 Shah Nawaz Party (BNP) Movement (BNM) Kech N/A N/A Alleged unlawful killing/search operation: On 1 December the two teenage sons of BNP activist Mir Ayub Gichki were killed when his house was reportedly raided by Frontiers Corps (FC) personnel. Three other relatives were killed in the attack and a house worker was allegedly taken away to location. Mir Ayub Gichki said that the age group of the five victims ranged from 15 years to 25 years and claimed that they received bullet wounds to their heads and died instantly. The FC alleged that the killings were as result of heavy exchange of fire from both sides. One FC personnel was also fatally injured.
