1 WAKA Space City Summer 2011 GMOT Ghost Man On Third All the news that s fit to kick! Week 1 Games June 30th WELCOME TO SPACE CITY KICKBALL Well we seem to have gotten through the first round of games relatively unscathed. It should be pretty obvious at his point how important it is to start on time. Nobody wants to play in the dark or have to belly up to the Flip Cup table at 10 pm. Make sure to get your teams ass in gear and get started on time. The editors of this fine publication would like to warn everyone that we will be on vacation the week of July 4th. Yes, we did fill out a 10 page request form, provide 2 Liters of blood, sign away our first born and after much protesting WAKA allowed us to have some fun in the sun. We are going to do our best to keep up the high quality that you expect from the GMOT, however we won t be at the games or helping to run Flip Cup as we normally do. Have no fear, we have enlisted some fine talent from our fellow Rangers to help us keep the Flip Cup going and to make sure all the standings for the week are recorded. Make sure you show them the same level of respect you show to us. Which is pretty much none and we would have it no other way! As far as the kickball games go we need your help! If you have any pictures, write ups, funny stories, etc etc send them in. We are going to be hard pressed for pictures this week as ourselves and David (not the commish David) are on vacation. You may have noticed David last week; he is the member of the Slime Balls that has graciously lent us a hand with the pictures. He has a very large lens and he sure knows how to use it. As always the GMOT is looking for any write ups, pictures, articles, stories etc etc. If you got it, send it in! We want it! Team Picture FAIL So we totally forgot about team pictures... I mean, we wanted to wait for everyone to get his/her shirt. Team pictures have been rescheduled for July 14

Last week was a great start to the season. I know the long weekend threw everyone for a loop so Week 2 should be even better. Just make sure that you keep the Ghost Man occupied by sending in those writeups. We have a good number of teams this season so I'm sure that there will be plenty to write about. 3 Captain s Corner WAKA Texas Rangers Fighting for America has never been easy! Just ask Chuck! From the Delta to the DMZ Chuck has defended our rights to shoot first and ask questions later for years. Chuck knows what it means to loose the fight but win the battle. Chuck once allowed himself to be taken prisoner. They fed him his own entrails and he asked for seconds! This week the Rangers took on the ObjectionaBalls! Unfamiliar with the enemy, the Rangers decided not to pull out every weapon we had in our arsenal. To do so at this point in the season would be foolish. Chuck would never go into battle uninformed of his enemy. The Rangers showed just enough muscle to let the ObjectionaBalls know that they should fear the Rangers. We deployed Chidi in the outfield and he proved to be an impenetrable wall that the ObjectionaBalls just couldn t seem to penetrate. In true Chuck fashion the Rangers gained valuable intel on the ObjectionaBalls Offense and Defense. This was all part of the master plan. Just like previous seasons, the Rangers start off slow allowing us to observe the weaknesses and strengths of every team. Once the Rangers figure out your team, you might as well be playing Punch Buggy with Chuck. No matter what you do you loose!! Happy 4th of July everyone. Remember, Chuck isn t watching. 6 FLIP CUP THE OFFICIAL DRINKING GAME OF KICKBALL 1, 2, 3, FLIP! This week proved to be a good start to the Flip Cup season. In case you have not figured it out yet, the Flip Cup games can be as important or maybe even more so than Kickball itself. In order to keep Flip Cup moving like the well oiled machine that it is, we sometimes need to amend, alter, or otherwise bend the rules. Based on a wonderful suggestion from the Ball Stars we are going to seed the teams based on the time you play on the field. This will allow us to partially run out the brackets before the late playing teams get to the bar. This should keep us from running as late as we did last week. See we actually do listen to all of your complaints/suggestions. We just choose to ignore 99% of them. Speaking of some complaints, let me address a few that seemed to come up on more than one occasion last week: But I play Blah Blah blah rules that I learned back in College, on the Sunday League, when I played at the North Pole, etc etc Sorry, we don t play those rules. We play Thursday Night Rules and you are gonna like it damn it!! Can we go down and back 15 times and then reverse and then hit it sideways? OK, maybe not a direct quote but you get the point. We have to get through numerous games of best 2 out of 3 in a reasonable amount of time. Let s 1. The ObjectionaBalls 3 wins, Overall WINNER 2. Slime Balls 3 wins 3. WAKA Like It s Hot 2 wins 4. Ragin Homers 1 win 5. WAKA TX Rangers 1 win 6. All other teams: 0 wins Flip Cup Standings keep it simple and if you want a special grudge match game, the table will be open after the last round and we can freestyle all y all want. EWW!! There is beer on the table! Suck it up Butter Cup! This is Flip Cup. Put on your big girl panties and get over it! What is it with these little cups? Why can t we have Solo Cups. Solo Cups, with their big ass openings are for beginners. Learn to play with the big boys or go home. Plus the bar gives us all the little cups we want, so unless you want to bring 100 Solo cups every week, shut up and flip. What is the rule about using your left hand? There is no rule about your left hand. You can do anything you want with it. The most popular is to use it to assist the steadying of the cup prior to flipping. An alternative might be to provide a middle fingered greeting to the opposing team to show your sportsmanship. I am allergic to beer, what do I do? Can I shoot whiskey or Rum instead? Touche my friend, Touche! This week Brad and Nathan from the ObjectionaBalls single handedly brought down the Slime Balls in the final match after loosing most of their Flip Cup team to the late night. Not to be deterred they doubled and tripled up to keep their chances alive and came out on top. Ranking based on individual number of games won. A bye does not count as a win. (In other words, you do not want a bye). Number of weekly wins will be the tie breaker for final seeding. The top 5 teams will have first round byes at the end of the season championship game. Does that mess with your head or what?
