Today we host teams from the Waikato. On behalf of the Manurewa Club, I extend a very warm welcome to the players, Officials and Supporters of the Hamilton Wanderers Club. I trust that they enjoy their trip north and look forward to their company in our Clubrooms after their game. Last time the Premier teams met resulted in a 6-3 win to Manurewa, but I expect a much harder game this time. Last week we travelled to Fred Taylor Park to play Waitakere City, where our Premier Reserves chalked up their first win of the season beating City Reserves 2-1 in a much improved game. Well done team, a great game. The Premier team did not fare so well, going down 6-1 in a hard and fast game. I don t think that the score reflected the game as a couple of bad defensive blunders gave them soft goals and at the other end we created many chances but didn t take them. The goal that we did score was a beauty, the best of the match, a bender into the top right corner of the net from outside the box. A goal that Beckham himself would have been proud of. Todays game is the last home game of the season, the last two are away and will be hard to take points from but I am sure that the boys will be up to it. Another three points would clinch it but I am hopeful that they have done enough already to ensure Premier football for us next season. Good luck and good football to all teams playing to-day. Catch you next season all going well. Alex Ogilvy

From the Editor As this is the last programme for 2012 I would like to thank everyone who has made my job of producing the programme easier. I took the task on part way into the season to help out Karl Miers when he was away and have kept going with it. Sometimes it is a challenge, but with everyone sending through reports, team lists, photos etc, on time (some later than others!!!!!) it makes it all go smoothly. I would like to especially thank the printer, John Danbury at Copy Solutions for his patience when we are cutting things fine and for the door to door delivery on Friday evenings. John, your support is very much appreciated by myself and the Club as a whole. I wish the Lee, Sean, the boys and all other Rewa teams all the best for the remaining games over the next few weeks. Catch you all next season. Laurette Hummels

Reserve Coaches Comments A warm welcome to all This is our last home game of the season, a very long season I must say. This year it has been a seesaw battle on and off the field. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the lads on sticking with the club in difficult times above all staying together as a team. Going back to our last league game against Waitakere, the boys showed they can play great football and that did pay off coming up with our first win. Last game against Wanderers was in the knock out cup, with wanderers just scraping through with a 3-2 win. Today is anther day and we have showed up to play football for our supporters and our coachs Mark Armstrong and Simon Bilton as they have done a wonderful job after Paul Edger left. From me well thank you to everyone for sticking with the reserves this season. Good Luck to the 1st team lads. Bhupinder Singh

Premier League Coaches Comments Welcome one and all to our last home game of the season and what an eventful one it has been. Most people would have said with a young side and not a large budget that we would be favourites to go down. But credit to the boys with all their hard work and determination, bar a miracle, looks like we have secured our premier league status for next season. I d like to welcome Hamilton Wanderers and all their staff to today s game. Also riding high in the league it will be a test no doubt but hopefully we can repeat last times performance and our last home game of the season with a win. Our last games saw us play East Coast Bays and Waitakere, two very different games with a 4 2 win over Bays, a great performance and a 6 1 defeat to Waitakere which again showed that individual mistakes were our worst enemy again. But hopefully a we will get the right response from the boys as they have done all season and give our faithful the home win for our last home game. Enjoy todays game and get behind the boys. 13 Senior Report Hi All The Div 1 Assyrian star side had a good win against Lynn Avon 4-1 last weekend and this week they have Fencibles on number 2. They sit first in their league. They are also in the Counties Cup and after their first round 2 weeks ago where they played Tuakau and after a tough first game they won 3-2. Next they have Drury. The Div 5 boys have had a tough season and they are currently last and with a few more games to go will be trying 2 get a few more wins under their belt. Andy's Div 8 side are currently 4th on goal difference and after last weeks game when they won 4-0 jump up a spot. This week they are playing SA Rangers on number 3. With 4 games to go in their season they will be doing everything they can to get up the table and hopefully the results will go their way. The Over 30s are also in the Masters Cup and they played Waiuku and had a good 5-0 win. Then last week they played Clendon and had a disappointing 2 all draw which put them in a 3 way tie for 2nd place and with their league splitting, they have 4 tough games to win their league. The U19s are in the Sunday Div 2 league and are sitting 3rd on goal difference and after a good 1 all draw against the league leaders. They will be looking to build on that result and get closer to Manukau. This week they are down to play Albany. If you have any suggestions for prize giving give me a bell. Cheers Gigsy

Ladies Report Hi all Last weekend we played Eastern Suburbs which we knew from the beginning was going to be a tough game with them sitting jut above us on the points ladder. The day started off with a huge line change just before kick off with our back up keeper not coming thru for us so Robynne stepped up and jumped in goal. The game kicked off with us starting off the scoring with a early goal against the wind by Renae and that was soon followed by another one, but then we let down our guard and Eastern Suburbs scored two goals against the break to level the score going into the break 2-2. After half time it wasn't long before Eastern Suburbs dirty tactic's came into play with a raking to Kate's eye sending her off the playing field and to Bakersfield for a doctors visit. Moments after that, some how they managed to slip a goal by us making it 3-2 but with all our triangles and thru balls we just couldn't manage to take one from them. This wasn't helped by losing another player to the shower for giving the referee her thoughts on his call so we played the remaining 20 odd mintues with only 10 ladies on the park which we managed to keep them score less, even though it wasn't the best result. Well done ladies. This weekend we have another tough fight on our hands with the local derby against Papatoetoe at Murdoch Park. Good luck luck to Sean, Lee and the boys and of course the ressies looking sharp after there 2-1 victory last weekend. Douglas and Wayde

YOUTH REPORT Hi Everyone After a break for the school holidays, our teams were all back into it last weekend. With the end of the season not too far away, I hate to put a curse on it, but we have been extremely fortunate with the weather this season with only one weekend where we had 4 games affected. Over the past few years, we had several weeks of cancelled games which was very frustrating for everyone therefore making the seasons very long. Fingers crossed, the weather will continue to be kind to us. As the season progresses, our teams seem to be putting together more wins than losses which is great to see. Our 15 th grade team has struggled all year with numbers and over the last several weeks have played with 9 or 10 players. Those players give 110% and over the last 5 games have not lost a game! They have not won any either 5 draws!! Here s hoping they get a win soon they certainly deserve one. Over the next few months we have a couple of teams entering in tournaments. 12 th Tigers will be at the Eastern Suburbs tournament in August and the 14 th grade is taking a team to the 14 th Grade Nationals in Whangarei in September. We wish both of these teams the best of luck and safe travels. As this is the last programme for the season, I would like to thank all our Youth coaches and managers for the efforts they have put into their teams this year. The commitment and time given to their teams is much appreciated by the children, parents and the committee. Remember to mark on your calendar; Prize giving is set for 22 September at the clubrooms. More information will follow shortly. To Lee, Sean and the boys, best of luck for the rest of the season. Laurette Hummels Reminder: The Youth Section has prize giving for all Youth Players of the Day at 5pm each Saturday. This is followed by a Youth Draw for a $15 non alcoholic bar tab. Any youth player at the clubrooms at this time is eligible to enter. Be there at 4.50pm to register.

Junior Report Heading towards the season end with most teams having 4 more rounds. Its been a great season so far having very few cancellations. Our 10 th Grade Lightning notched up yet another Tournament win in Papamoa, congratulations boys. Our smaller players, grades 5 to 8 have enjoyed a bit of a break over the holidays although some still fitted in a game or two 6 th Pumas v 6 th Cats half time game At the last home game two Manurewa 6 th grade teams, Pumas and Cats played during the half time break. The kids were buzzing in the tunnel as they waited for the 1 st team whistle to sound for half time. After waiting patiently for the Mens teams to pass them (with a few high 5 s from the Rewa lads who were in buoyant mood after a superb 1 st half v East Coast Bays), they ran on to the field to a great reception from the crowd. Unfortunately they weren t instructed (or weren t listening) to where the game was to be played as instead of running on to the 1 st team pitch, they made a beeline for the warm up area next to the grandstand! After some re-direction they kicked off and the two evenly matched teams played a fantastic game of football, in front of an appreciative crowd and some (over) enthusiastic parents. I can t recommend enough what a great experience this was for the children, coaches and parents and would encourage any other junior teams to do the same before the season is over. Thanks to Cats coach Stacy in particular, for helping organise the game, as well as all the parents from both teams for setting up the field and supporting their kids and also to Kirsten for her photos. Well done to all the kids, who really did play very well. Dion (6 th Pumas coach) Manurewa Juniors
