Refer to the next page that shows what's on, when it starts, and the convenors name and contact details. You will note that we have a change of convenor for the Wednesday bowls. Ken Montgomery has decided to have a well deserved rest from convening and I want to acknowledge the excellent job Ken has done organising and running Wednesday social bowls over nearly four years during which he has built and maintained good support from Ivanhoe and visiting teams. Well done Ken - your contribution is much appreciated! Rob Atkinson will take over convening the Wednesday bowls. This is very generous of Rob particularly given he is new to the Ivanhoe Club, so please give him as much support as you can while he finds his feet. Thanks also to Peter Templeton who will continue to convene the 4th Monday pairs. As in previous seasons, the convenors will seek to finalise entries in the week prior to each event. It would greatly assist if you can enter your team (or a single entry if you wish) on the entry list at the club and update it each month with your availability. New bowlers very welcome! Any enquiries to Rob Waddell or the relevant convenor. Page 4 of 11

After 6 games of the 9 games for the 3 rd Test Ivanhoe had won 4, therefore, requiring only one more game to win the series and ensure the return of the Mithen Mug to Ivanhoe. Sadly Rosanna prevailed and retained the Mug. After 3 years Rosanna have won the Mug twice to Ivanhoe s one. Page 6 of 11
Coach s Update Hello again to you all, The whiff of spring in the (chilly) air is upon us and we are well under-way with preparations for the new season. To those who have braved the cool on our Sunday morning sessions thanks very much for the time and effort you have put in. Alby has been running these for years and his dedication to the club is first rate, we are just building on his great and continuing work. The work of Alby, John, Doug, Phil and John have done to this point has been excellent, I am happy to build on the great work they all continue to do. Welcome to the new bowlers to the club, I am sure we will all get to know the faces quickly and please take the time to chat to anyone you haven t met yet, there is much we can learn from everyone that enters the gates at our club. One in particular that you will all know is Dane. Dane's return as an assistant coach is a major step forward for the club, his knowledge and patience will be a massive asset to the club and I for one am very happy to have him on board. We are well into the pre-season, great turn-outs for opening day and the intra-club games, thank you one and all for the enthusiasm and the work that has gone into kicking the year off in a positive note. Practice will be starting on Thursdays from this point onwards, with skill drills available on Wednesday evenings for those who would like to join in. I will update these sessions through the Team App, if you need help with this please see me at the club and I will help you. I am also ready to start up with some video analysis sessions for those who would like to participate, as well as a discussion with anyone looking to change equipment or wanting one on one sessions. Please contact me if any of this is of interest to you. It's all systems go from here, good luck to you all no matter who or when you play - and let's have fun while we do it Cheers Garry Page 7 of 11
Umpires Corner 1) During a game, when players change ends, they should not follow the last bowl until it has come to rest. However, as we all know, most players do walk down the green early to speed up the game. It is therefore important, that the players walk along the side of the green, and not down the centre line, as this can prevent the bowler from watching his bowl come to rest in the head. This is a Law that will at most times only be enforced if a player complains to the umpire. 2) At the completion of an end both teams have a bowl touching the jack. The end must be declared TIED and entered on the scorecard as a played end. 3) A skip is the last to play and has one bowl left He tells his opposition skip that he is not going to bowl his last bowl. His third calls out that they are one bowl down and that he should deliver his last bowl. Question: Can he change his mind? The answer: NO He cannot change his mind. Enjoy your umpiring Bob Gilham Page 8 of 11
