Medical Certificate produced today: Katelyn Mallyon Race 1 - RACE-TECH PLATE - 1000 metres: Royal Riches - inside the final 200m changed stride on several occasions and shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages and a subsequent veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Faction - rider Matthew Allen was questioned regarding his tactics rounding the home turn and for some distance in the home straight, concerning his lack of vigour prior to the 200m and he explained that trainer Mr Robbie Griffiths had advised him the filly only has a short sprint and poorly winded and for this reason he rode his mount accordingly based on his instructions. He added that the filly had peaked on its run over the concluding stages and in his view jarred up on todays track surface and didnt feel right in its action. Mr Griffiths confirmed the instructions as the filly had been disappointing last preparation and whilst in future may be ridden closer as it is stepped up in distance, he intends to continue to instruct riders to try and rider Faction in a manner that allows her to take advantage of her short sprint. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. An irregular heart rhythm was also detected and the filly must be subject to examination by a veterinarian with specialist qualifications in equine internal medicine, prior to starting in any race or trial. The examination should include echocardiography, electrocardiography at rest and at exercise and any other examination that the examining veterinarian requests. Prior to starting in any race, and pending Stewards receiving a satisfactory veterinary report from the specialist examination, such horses must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards in an organised trial of at least 1000m and have a satisfactory veterinary report that includes the results of cardiac auscultation within 30 minutes of completion of the trial. Race 2 - THE COVE HOTEL HANDICAP - 1000 metres: Typhoon Su - jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Rider Linda Meech reported that she though her mount had gone amiss in the run as it failed to respond to her riding and tailed off however on pulling up seemed to be normal in its action and a subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormal findings. Miss Del Toro - jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Lord Da Vince - jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Belesron - laid in under pressure in the straight. Lock And Load - rider Damian Lane could offer no explanation for the geldings poor performance today other than it travelled well and failed to finish the race off. Parker n Barro - rider Craig Robertson was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding today which was first up from a lengthy spell and he explained that his instructions were to have his mount settle where comfortable with the view the gelding should finish the race off. He added that he felt the horse slip a little on jumping away and then elected to balance it up and in his view may be better suited with more give in the ground. His explanation was recorded if required for further reference.
Race 3 - THE GRAND HOTEL FRANKSTON PLATE - 1800 metres: Controlled - trainer Mr Anthony Peacock was reprimanded for presenting the gelding late on course. Tortured Poet - fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Madasco (NZ) - jumped awkwardly making contact with the side of the barriers. Raced wide without cover. Elektra Lass - slow to begin. Double Be - bumped with Mackenzie Heights at the start. Mackenzie Heights - bumped at the start. Courageous Rock - slow to begin. Here Comes Theboom - rider Michael Walker could offer no explanation for the poor performance however in his view the colt would be a better racing proposition if gelded and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Pinneux - rider Luke Nolen could offer no real excuses for the colts performance other than it would gain benefit from racing experience and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 4 - GUINOT SKINCARE HANDICAP - 1300 metres: The Barrister - bumped with War Legend (NZ) at the start. Over-raced in the early stages. War Legend (NZ) - bumped at the start with The Barrister. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Iceflow - bumped with Gredington at the start. Rider Damian Lane was advised to exercise more care when permitting his mount to shift in passing the 1000m when not fully clear of Call Me Anything. Gredington - bumped at the start. Approaching the 400m got unbalanced after being bumped by Well Sighted, which was shifting out to improve. Cardoso - bumped with Lake Jackson at the start. Lake Jackson - bumped at the start with Cardoso. For a major part of the home straight had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the300m got unbalanced after being bumped by Well Sighted. Call Me Anything - when over-racing had to be steadied passing the 1000m to avoid the heels of Iceflow. Rider Mark Zahra reported the colt didnt feel right in its action and a subsequent veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Well Sighted - rider Ben Melham was advised to exercise more care when allowing his mount to shift ground in the early part of the straight making contact with Gredington.
Race 5 - CABLE BEACH CLUB RESORT & SPA HANDICAP - 1800 metres: Prince Jester (NZ) - after being restrained early, commenced to over-race for some distance and had to be checked near the 1300m to avoid the heels of Liberty Leader and then continued to race fiercely being checked for some distance to avoid the heels of Varboss. Rider Regan Bayliss was fined $300 for his unnecessary whip use on a horse that was out of contention. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Varboss - lost its off fore plate in running. Race 6 - WILLIAM HILL HANDICAP - 1000 metres: Dubais Kiss - connections advised would be ridden forward from the good draw; settled just behind the leaders. Lexgetreddy - third placegetter; rider Thomas Sadler lodged an objection against See Me Flash being the winner and Marrakesh being second placegetter alleging interference for the majority of the home straight. On the evidence it was established that near the 300m Marrakesh shifted out slightly and near the 100m See Me Flash shifted in to a point where Lexgetreddy was put in restricted room however Stewards could not be satisfied that either of these incidents could justify an alteration to the placings, bearing in mind the way in which all three horses finished the race off over the final 200m, and therefore both objections were dismissed and correct weight was declared. Marrakesh - jumped away awkwardly. See Me Flash - jumped away awkwardly with its head up. Written Birch - slow to begin. Rose Dancer - held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight before shifting in abruptly near the 400m to obtain clear running. Gilarde - apprentice Jye McNeil was of the view the filly would be suited on a track with more give and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Typhoon Peri - rider Lincoln Coffey could offer no excuses for the fillys poor performance today after it weakened over the concluding stages and a post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slower than normal recovery. Race 7 - MYPUNTER.COM HANDICAP - 1300 metres: Suspicieuse (FR) - slow to begin. Rider Ben Melham reported that his mount did not feel right in its action and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days. Samertha Heights - slow to begin. La Consolidata - slow to begin.
Demandz (NZ) - over-raced in the early stages. Rider Patrick Moloney reported that the mare may be better suited to tracks with more give and added that the mare may have come to the end of its preparation and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Hennessy Rock - passing the 1000m was over-racing and lost ground when being restrained to avoid the heels of Demandz (NZ) and continued to over-race for a short distance after that. Lost is offside winker near the 600m. Rider Michael Walker explained that his mount had a tendency to over-race with its head up in the early stages but never travelled comfortably at any stage; a subsequent veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery and a swab sample was taken for analysis. Co-trainer Mr Tom Dabernig was also questioned regarding the fillys preparation leading into todays race where he explained that it had got over its first up run well and had not had any setbacks heading into todays race and undertook to notify Stewards, once the filly had cooled down, if any ailments are detected that could explain the poor run. Cristalina Lago - raced wide without cover. Race 8 - MITAVITE CHALLENGE HEAT 4-1500 metres: Super Fun - was inconvenienced at the start after the right hand barrier gate rebounded after to failing to catch when the start was released and as a result settled further back than its normal racing pattern. Soaked - over-raced in the early stages. Inside the final 400m was held up for clear running and subsequently was unable to be fully tested to the winning post. Shintaro - raced wide without cover. Hussavi - rider Nikita Beriman explained she had previously won on the gelding when ridden just off the speed and in her view the tactics adopted today from barrier 1 over this particular distance were the normal tactics adopted under these conditions. Our Valdivia (NZ) - when questioned rider Patrick Moloney explained that it was not the pre-race intention to lead today as his instructions were not to ride it along early as it over-races and said his instructions were to get it to settle with some cover and further added his mount jumped that well and with the lack of early speed he was left with no option than to let his mount stride forward. This explanation was accepted. Black Sheep (NZ) - rider Mark Zahra was of the view the gelding didnt feel comfortable in its action and the Stewards will follow this up with the stable in the coming days. Manapine - rider Damien Oliver explained that his mount was failing to respond to his riding rounding the home turn and in the straight as in his opinion it was not comfortable handling the downhill run and then inside the 200m it started to pick the bit up and he was then unable to ride his mount out as he was held up with no room to improve. Race 4 - MELBOURNE SIGNAGE CONCEPTS INGLIS BONUS - 1600 metres: Berisha - trainer Mr Murray Johnson reported that Berisha had pulled up well, and that they would now be looking to race the gelding over further. Race 9 - SPORTINGBET POWERED BY WILLIAM HILL HANDICAP - 1500 metres: Razzle Dazzle Rock - the stable have advised the gelding underwent a full veterinary examination on return to the stable which failed to reveal any abnormalities. The gelding has come to the end of its preparation and will now be spelled.
