American Singles Golf Association Columbia Chapter September, 2006 ************************************************************** IT S A BEAUTIFUL TIME OF YEAR! FOOTBALL AND GREAT GOLING ALL ROLLED INTO ONE FABULOUS SEASON!!! It doesn t get any better than this!!! I don t know about ya ll, but I LOVE this time of year. Football, FOOTBALL and more FOOTBALL, and the greatest golfing weather in Columbia, South Carolina. It makes me miss the north a bit, so forgive me for reminiscing about my past. Pittsburgh Steeler and Pittsburgh Panther s season in the north...no time for golf!! And then, there is that crispness of Autumn in the air... and the thoughts of winter settling in. Jeans, sweatshirts, sweaters and tennis shoes; a nice change from shorts and sleeveless tanks! Football was meant to be played with that crisp chill in the night...i never missed attending a HOME PITT game, regardless if it was pouring down rain or the sun shining through the clouds! Now ask me how in the world can I fit golf in NOW, that I have the Steelers, Carolina Panthers, Pitt and the Gamecocks to watch??? I dunno, but I sure am gonna try!!!! I love watching my boys (Steelers) play so I won t be on the links those days. I can give up the others...ha ha!!! BUT we all know we don t schedule golf when the Gamecocks are at home. Yep, it doesn t get any better than this... And now let s get back to GOLF!!! In August the ASGA group golfed Ponderosa Country Club on August 6, a Nine and Dine at Northwoods on August 18, Traces in Florence on August 20 and Indian River on the 26 th!!! Whew! Too much heat for me so I only attended the Indian River golf outing Here are some of the memories of that warm August day! ************************************************************************************** REMINDER: October is the month for re-election of officers for the ASGA.. please be thinking of Volunteering for an office or nominating officers for all the positions: President, Treasurer, Golf Chair, Membership Chair, Communications Chair, Social Chair, etc. Columbia Singles Golf 1
