ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Padres' 16-0 loss was their fifth consecutive defeat, and the losing streak ties for the longest this season (done four times, last on June 3-8)...it was the 10th shutout the club has sustained this season...in his third start with San Diego, Jordan Lyles allowed seven runs on eight hits with three walks and one strikeout in his 4.0 innings of work the seven earned runs are his most allowed since Sept. 23, 2013 at TEX, while pitching for the Astros. After fouling a ball off his leg in the sixth inning, Wil Myers exited the game with a right leg contusion. INSIDE THE SERIES: The Padres are looking to avoid a series sweep and snap a seven-game losing streak against the Rockies, which is the longest losing streak in club history against Colorado...the Padres have claimed one series against the Rockies in 2017, and the last time they were swept by Colorado was in their last meeting from July 17-19 in Denver. FAMILIAR FACES: Starter Jhoulys Chacin makes his 69th career appearance (62nd start) at Coors Field, but it marks his first start at Coors Field in which he did not where a Rockies uniform...he faces off against his former team for the second time in his career (first: June 3, 2017 at Petco Park)...Chacin has a 1.91 ERA (20 ER, 94.1) in 15 starts at Petco Park this season, the lowest home ERA in the Majors this season...he looks to improve his road numbers, owning a 4-7 record and a 6.98 (54 ER, 69.2 IP). QUALITY OVER QUANTITY: Jhoulys Chacin's 14 quality starts this season rank second on the club behind Luis Perdomo s 16...has tossed quality starts in 10 of his last 18 outings since June 3, posting a 8-6 record, a 3.13 ERA (37 ER, 106.1 IP) with a 88-to-45 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a.216 opponent batting average. THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING, AND I MUST GO: INF Carlos Asuaje has hit safely in each of his five career games opposite the Rockies, all at Coors Field, with three multi-hit efforts and three doubles...he has also reached base safely via hit or walk in 13 consecutive games in which he has had at least one plate appearance. SILVER LINING: Though the Padres have dropped five of the seven games they have played this roadtrip, a multitude of Padres have impressed at the plate...inf Erick Aybar has hit.318 (7-for-22), Wil Myers has hit in five of the seven games, and Carlos Asuaje has hit.280 (7-for-25) with two doubles. FINDING A WAY: Last night, OF Manuel Margot ended starter Tyler Anderson's no-hit bid in the sixth inning with his infield single...it was Margot's 19th infield hit this season, which are the second-most on the club behind Cory Spangenberg's 20...Spangenberg also leads the team in bunt hits (five). HOME VS. ROAD IMPROVEMENT: Since May 21, the Padres have posted a 50-53 overall record...52 of those 102 games have been played at Petco Park, with the Padres owning a.596 winning percentage (31-21)...however, the Friars look to improve their record in gray threads, as they have a.373 winning percentage (19-32) on the road in that time. SNAP THAT STREAK: San Diego has now lost five straight games, which ties the club's season-long losing streak of five games (done three times, last from June 3-8)...the Padres have been out scored 44-4 over the five games...the last time the Padres have lost six straight games dates back to August 4-9, 2015. RHP Kyle Lloyd, who was originally scheduled to start Saturday s fourth game, will start the decisive game in the best-of-five series Sunday at Southwest University Park in El Paso...Nix, who was promoted from Double-A San Antonio to make Saturday s start, allowed just one run on seven hits and a walk with a strikeout in his Triple-A debut. Meanwhile, Quad Cities scored a 12-2 win at home Saturday night to complete a three-game sweep of Single-A Fort Wayne in the best-of-five Midwest League Championship Series...CF Jack Suwinski led Fort Wayne and went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. DATES IN PADRES HISTORY: On September 17, 1988, in the first game of a doubleheader in Atlanta, Tony Gwynn went 2-for-4 with a triple to become the Padres all-time hit leader, passing Dave Winfield with his 1,135th hit...he reached the record in 570 fewer at-bats than Winfield.
