Regan Bayliss was severely reprimanded for failing to obtain a medical when directed to do so.. Other Comments / Explanations: Chris Symons was examined by the doctor after the running of Race 3 and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.. Race 1 - VRC Members Pavilion Handicap - 1000 metres: > Wait For No One - connections advised would be ridden with cover; after beginning well led and over-raced.. Rider Regan Bayliss stated that it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning extremely well his mount over-raced when he attempted to ease to find cover. Clear Signal - knuckled at the start and lost ground.. Passing the 800m was bumped by Star Clipper which shifted in.. Rider Daniel Moor stated that after beginning awkwardly, his mount then over-raced in the early stages due to the slow tempo.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Star Clipper - began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of Cao Cao.. Near the 700m bumped by Clear Signal on the hindquarters.. Cao Cao - bumped at the start.. Over-raced and got its head up in the early and middle stages. Sunquest - over-raced in the early stages.. Indian Thunder - rider Damian Lane could offer no explanation for the performance.. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and an endoscopic examination detected a degree of mucus that may have affected the colts racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. Race 2 - New Season Handicap - 1700 metres: > Domino Vitale - connections advised would be ridden more forward due to being up in distance; began awkwardly and settled mid-field three wide without cover.. Whyouask - slow to begin. Hell Or Highwater - over-raced in the early stages. Miss It And A Bit - inconvenienced near the 400m when attempting to shift out and was bumped by Dulverton which shifted in to obtain clear running.. Apprentice Stephanie Thornton was of the opinion her mount would be better suited on a track with more give.. Dulverton - laid out from the 300m.. Another Bullseye - laid inwards in the home straight.. Apprentice Taylor Marshall stated his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and laid in.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.. Florida Pearl - rider Daniel Moor could offer no explanation for the performance which was below expectations.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal Mulinello (NZ) - rider Stephen Baster reported his mount did not feel right in its action.. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.. Race 3 - Winter Lodge Handicap - 1000 metres: > Dothraki Princess - dislodged rider Chris Symons en route to the gates and galloped riderless for some distance.. Underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 12.44pm. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Dothraki Princess to be refunded.. All successful bets on horses prior to 12.44pm are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the

Killarney Kid (NZ) - bumped passing the 500m when attempting to shift Bondi Beach (IRE) wider on the track.. Over the concluding stages was steadied when racing tight between Kirani and Play Master, which laid out.. Rider Ben Melham stated that his mount did not appreciate not being able to gain cover in the small field today and due to being exposed was unable to finish off.. Race 6-1 Oliver St Plate - 2500 metres: > Benall - slow to begin. Azurite (IRE) - raced wide until passing the 1800m. Survived (NZ) - over-raced in the middle stages. Yogi (NZ) - raced wide without cover from the 1000m when improving from the rear of the field.. Chequered Flag (NZ) - laid out under pressure in the home straight and passing the 200m shifted out under pressure.. Kawabata - apprentice Ben Thompson was fined $400 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip ten times prior to the 100m, which is five times more than permitted.. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his good record and that it was a staying event.. Race 7 - Jockey Celebration Day Plate - 1600 metres: > Dollar For Dollar - connections advised would be ridden further back with cover; began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with Bajour (NZ) then raced four wide without cover in a mid-field position.. Jaminzah - connections advised would be ridden closer if it begins well; raced wide with cover in a mid-field position.. Spearhead - began awkwardly and lost ground.. Steadied near the 350m when racing tight between Giddyup and But Its True which shifted in marginally.. Was again steadied when in restricted room passing the 250m when racing tight to the inside of But Its True then had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 150m..

Giddyup - over-raced in the early stages. Andrea Mantegna (USA) - raced three wide without cover.. Apprentice Jordan Grob dropped his whip near the 300m.. Jordan Grob stated that his mount would be better suited on a track with more give and did not appreciate the strong wind.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.. Bajour (NZ) - steadied near the 250m when Spunlago shifted in before then shifting over that geldings heels to obtain clear running.. Gold Fields - when questioned regarding the performance today, apprentice Brandon Stockdale explained that from the wide barrier the gelding was required to do too much work in the early stages to take up a forward position and with the risk of being caught wide without cover, he was left with no other option but to press forward and lead, and having to negotiate a strong headwind his mount then compounded in the straight.. He reiterated that in his view, his mount was simply required to do too much work in the early stages to be competitive at the finish.. But Its True - rider John Allen was of the opinion his mount would be better suited on a track with more give.. He stated that it was ridden in a similar manner when it won at Geelong, however on that occasion the race was run much quicker in the early stages. He added that because of this he was satisfied with the performance. Further, as the mare had drifted considerably in the market, when questioned Mr Reid advised that the mare had worked well in the lead up to the event and he had expected a forward showing and he added that the mare had pulled up well following the performance.
