Race 1 HIGHVIEW ACCOUNTING SERVICES SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres: Commanderbrae Halo was slow to begin and then slow to muster early speed. On jumping away Make Mine Brandy (NZ) began awkwardly. Henny s Hero raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Passing the 600 metres Reluche faltered. Near the 400 metres Easy To Look At had to be steadied when avoiding the heels of Zoria (NZ) (M Walker) which shifted out to improve its position. M Walker was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Shortly after this Make Mine Brandy (NZ) had to be steadied when Zoria (NZ)
shifted in slightly. Excitus, which was racing behind these horses and laying in, was then held up for a short distance. Approaching the 100 metres Such Hope shifted in after being stuck with the whip before being straightening by its rider. M Payne (Henny s Hero) reported that her mount failed to show early speed, which was contrary to its first race start where it led and boxed on gamely. M Payne added that when placed under pressure in the straight, the gelding did not feel right in its action and gave considerable ground. A subsequent veterinary examination of Henny s Hero revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and a veterinary certificate of fitness is required prior to racing again. C Newitt (Lankan Rupee) reported that his mount hung out rounding the home turn and also in the straight. S King (Make Mine Brandy NZ) reported that the filly lay in under pressure in the straight. Race 2 CRANBOURNE HOLDEN MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: Mt Sugarloaf (NZ) and My Black Rose were hampered at the start when tightened for room between Another Payment and Cyclone Jess, both of which shifted out on jumping away. Aunty Nova began awkwardly. Moreau over raced when wide without cover. Silver Coin also raced wide without cover. In the middle stages Del Cavallo over raced. When giving ground prior to straightening My Black Rose had to be steadied off the heels of Another payment, which shifted out slightly. R Bradley (Cyclone Jess) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR137(a). The careless riding being that approaching the 100 metres she permitted her mount to shift out when not clear of Aunty Nova resulting in that filly having to be checked to avoid heels. In issuing the charge stewards acknowledged that Aunty Nova raced tight to the inside of Sarazen, which was taken in slightly by Moreau (R Tremsal). R Bradley had her licence to ride in races suspended for a total of 10 meetings to commence midnight 8 September, 2012 and to expire midnight 18 September, 2012. (2 metro, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid range category of carelessness and took into account her guilty plea and good riding record. R Tremsal was severely reprimanded for shifting resulting tightening to Sarazen which had to be eased. Rounding the home turn and until straightening Del Cavallo, Odd Socks, and Tune Out were held up when unable to obtain a clear run. Odd Socks was again held up for a clear run passing the 200 metres before shifting in to obtain a run approaching the 100 metres. Again approaching the winning post Odd Socks was held up when tightened for room by Cyclone Jess, which had a slight tendency to shift in and away from Moreau. As a result of this Odd Socks went to the winning post not fully tested. C Newitt (Odd Socks) reported that when he gained a run inside the final 100 metres to the inside of Cyclone Jess, Cyclone Jess then began to shift in under pressure and when initially Odd Socks had galloping room to improve he elected to stop riding his mount as eventually he was going to be put into a dangerous position.
P Mertens, rider of Del Cavallo, which performed below market expectations, reported that although the gelding was held up rounding the home turn his mount proved difficult to ride out in the straight due to it hanging in. After the race it was noted that Tune Out had sustained a small laceration to the inside of the near hind coronet band. Race 3 TAB MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres: For the majority of the race Wicka Flicka raced wide without cover. In the straight Kharcho lay in under pressure. Harada Rose raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. Approaching the 400 metres West Rock Jaemie had to be steadied when avoiding the heels of Harada Rose, which shifted in. Passing the 400 metres Harada Rose had to be checked when tightened for room between Paganini s Brother and Footprint (C Newitt), which shifted out before being straightened by its rider. Nonetheless under the circumstances C Newitt was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. In the straight She s So Canny lay in under pressure. Rounding the home turn and until straightening Willy s Boy was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. When being held up rounding the home turn Willy s Boy shifted out and took Abelardo Brom out
towards Ladra. This resulted in Abelardo Brom being hampered and then shortly after this having to be steadied to avoid the heels of Luis Le Fly. Passing the 200 metres Dangerousdalliance shifted in slightly and bumped Yolanda Be Cool (NZ). Race 6 CHANDLER MACLEOD SHOWCASE BM72 HANDICAP - 2080 metres: On return to scale R Maloney rider of Chappell was dislodged. As he was unable to return to scales and weigh in Stewards were satisfied that he carried his allotted weight and correct weight was declared. Subsequently R Maloney was stood down for the remainder of the day by the Club s doctor. R Maloney was notified that he is required to produce a medical certificate prior to riding again. Black Artois was marginally slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion Sleep N Pete was taken in when racing tight on the inside of Chappell. The Zero began to over race passing the 1200 metres and shifted to a three wide position without cover. The Zero then gave ground passing the 600 metres and finished a distant last. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Passing the 400 metres Mosseltov, when attempting a run where there was barely sufficient galloping room on the inside of Sleep N Pete, made contact with the running rail, became unbalanced almost dislodging app P Moloney. P Moloney was advised that when attempting runs he must ensure that he has comfortable galloping room to do so. Race 7 DE BORTOLI WINES f&m BM72 HANDICAP - 1400 metres: Conferre was hampered on jumping away when tightened for room between Dare I Ask and Outdoor, both of which shifted ground. Passing the 1000 metres Conferre, when being eased, then had to be checked when tightened for room between Belle Of The Court, which shifted out slightly and Outdoor (D Moor), which was racing close to the heels of Hoakstess and then shifted in. When being checked Conferre shifted in abruptly and hampered Babe To Win. Conferre raced ungenerously between the 1000 and 600 metres. Rounding the home turn Conferre had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run. The saddle on Dare I Ask shifted forward passing the 1000 metres resulting in its rider, app J Childs, being placed at a disadvantage in riding the mare for the remainder of the race. P Mertens (Her Diamond Rock) 2 placegetter, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts to the end of the race. Stewards determined that his actions did not affect the result of the race. L Nolen, rider of Belle Of The Court, which performed poorly, explained that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages and although slightly held up rounding the home turn was disappointing when placed under pressure in the straight. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Race 8 PROCON DEVELOPMENTS 0-62 HANDICAP - 1400 metres: Awaroa (NZ) was hampered on jumping away when tightened by Light Rio (NZ), which shifted in.

Stewards were not comfortably satisfied that his actions had affected the outcome of the race. C Robertson (To Cry For) reported that his mount would be better suited to tracks that are rain affected. M Rodd, rider of Glory Man, which performed poorly, explained that he was pressured for the lead in the early stages however gave ground when placed under pressure in the straight to finish at the rear of the field. M Rodd added that Glory Man would be better suited to tracks that are rain affected. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. M Zahra (Light Rio NZ) reported that his mount would be better suited over a longer distance than today s event. Race 9 TAB CRANBOURNE CUP 14 OCT SHOWCASE 0-68 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: B Melham (Notice Received NZ) was severely reprimanded for failing to provide a medical certificate. D Dunn, rider of Taxi Driver, which finished fifth past the post lodged an objection against, Renegade Arrow (NZ) (app J Childs) being declared fourth placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference rounding the home turn and in the straight. It was established that rounding the home turn Renegade Arrow shifted out when hanging out, bearing in mind where the incident took place and that Taxi Driver had the entire straight to make the necessary ground to finish ahead of Renegade Arrow (NZ), the Stewards were not of the view that the placings should be altered and therefore the objection was dismissed. At a later enquiry app J Childs was advised that although he was attempting to correct his mount from shifting ground he would be expected to stop and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. Prussian Power, Unruly Princess and Chabrier were slow to begin. With Danger raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. Approaching the 500 metres Chabrier faltered. Rounding the home turn Barbie Dazzler was held up for a clear run. When giving ground prior to straightening With Danger was bumped out by Unruly Princess, which shifted out to improve its position.
