Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on CSTV. The Falcons fell to overall and 4-5 in the Mountain West Conference on Saturday with a loss to Utah at Clune Arena. The Falcons, who defeated UNLV, 65-53, earlier this season at the Academy, are tied for sixth place in the league standings with TCU. Still Nearly Unbeatable at Clune Despite three losses at home this season, the Falcons have been close to unbeatable at Clune Arena the last four seasons. Since the beginning of the season, Air Force has won 65 of its 70 home games for a 92.9 winning percentage. The other two losses were to Utah (65-56 on Feb. 19, 2005) and BYU (62-58 on Feb. 27, 2007). In addition, the Falcons have won 32 of their 36 MWC games at Clune Arena during that stretch. The Falcons have lost at least three home games in a season for the first time since the campaign. 3 Last Time Out Utah 67, Air Force 59 Feb. 9, 2008, USAFA, Colo. USAFA, COLO. (AP) -- Johnnie Bryant scored 17 points to lead Utah to a come-from-behind win over Air Force on Saturday. With the win, Utah (14-8, 5-4 Mountain West) completed a season sweep of Air Force (12-10, 4-5), having defeated the Falcons in Salt Lake City on Jan. 5. Air Force had a halftime lead behind the shooting of Andrew Henke, but the Utes began chipping away early in the second half. Utah tied Air Force 37-37, with Bryant nailing a 3-pointer at the 13:10 mark. Luka Drca hit a 3-pointer at 11:45 to give Utah a lead, and Bryant scored from the beyond the arc to stretch the margin to Though Air Force tied the game at behind a 3-pointer from Tim Anderson, Utah never relinquished the lead. Bryant converted five 3-point shots en route to his game-high performance. Luke Nevill, who entered the game as the Utes' leading scorer and rebounder, was dominant under the basket early but got into foul trouble near the end of the first half. He picked up his third foul with 1:20 to go, being assessed a technical for protesting a call under the Utah basket. Nevill finished with 13 points and two rebounds. He didn't pick up a fourth foul until late in the game. Drca also was in double figures for the Utes with 12 points. Anderson led Air Force in scoring with 16 points. Henke, who was scoreless in the second half, Evan Washington and Anwar Johnson all had 11 for the Falcons. Utah entered the match leading the Mountain West Conference with 49 percent field goal shooting. The Utes were No. 2 in the league with 40.4 percent 3- point shooting and 73.8 percent free-throw shooting. Against Air Force, the Utes shot 45.8 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 72.2 percent from the line. With two steals against San Diego State on Feb. 6, Tim Anderson moved into second place on Air Force s career list. He currently has 151 steals. Jacob Burtschi, Tim Anderson, 2004-present Raymond Dudley, Otis Jones, Tim Keller, Jeff Bowling, , Jeff Reynolds, Air Force Head Coach Jeff Reynolds was named the seventh head coach in Air Force basketball history and the fourth in the last five years, on April 17, He served as an assistant coach with the Falcons the past two seasons. Reynolds begins his tenure as the top man at Air Force with an impressive resume. He has been an assistant coach at three Division I schools that have played in the NCAA Tournament and helped two Division II programs advance to the Division II Tournament. Reynolds came to the Academy prior to the campaign after serving as an assistant coach at Tulane for five seasons. During his time at Tulane, Reynolds coached Linton Johnson, who has played in the NBA for five seasons, the last two with the New Orleans Hornets. Johnson was a member of the San Antonio Spurs when they won the NBA championship in Prior to his stint at Tulane, Reynolds served as the head coach at Division II Wingate University in Wingate, N.C. He coached Wingate for three seasons, building the program into a Division II powerhouse. In , his team led the nation in scoring defense and posted an impressive 26-4 record, closing the year with a final national ranking of No. 7 and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs also won their second-consecutive South Atlantic Conference title and established the longest home-court winning streak at the Division II level (26 games). While at Wingate, Reynolds coached current NBA player Lorinza "Junior" Harrington for two seasons. Harrington was named to the all-sac Freshman Team in 1998 and earned Division II All-America honors as a senior. He has played three seasons in the NBA, including the campaign with the Memphis Grizzlies. In , Reynolds guided Wingate to its first NCAA Tournament bid, as well as its first national ranking, and the Bulldogs closed that season with a 23-6 mark as Reynolds earned South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year honors. He posted an impressive record in his three years at Wingate. As the top assistant coach at his alma mater, UNC-Greensboro, from , Reynolds helped the program to the 1996 Big South Championship and a bid to the 1996 NCAA Tournament. The Spartans fell to Elite Eight team Cincinnati, 66-61, in the first round. Prior to that, he served for four years as the top assistant at UNC-Wilmington, helping the Seahawks to Colonial Athletic Association Most Improved Team honors in Reynolds began his coaching career at James Madison University in 1981, serving as a part-time assistant for a team which won 24 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in He went on to Division II power Randolph-Macon College, which reeled off three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and earned a No. 4 national ranking in the final poll of He logged one year as the head coach of North Carolina Wesleyan College in , leading the program to a 21-7 mark and the Dixie Conference Championship, before moving on to Winthrop College for four years. At Winthrop, he was directly involved in the team's transition from Division II to Division I, and, in 1988, the school captured the Big South Conference Championship. 4 2007 Air Force Classic Champions Air Force captured the championship of the 2007 Air Force Classic on Nov. 10 with a victory over Northern Colorado in the first-ever regular-season men s tournament at Clune Arena. The Falcons are 14-5 in tournament play since the beginning of the season, including two victories earlier this season at the Air Force Classic. Falcons Among MWC Leaders Three Air Force players, Tim Anderson, Evan Washington and Anwar Johnson, are in the Top 10 among the Mountain West Conference statistical leaders this season. This is the second weekly honor of the season for Anderson. Anderson, an El Paso, Texas, native, scored a game-high 27 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field to lead Air Force to a victory over UNLV last Saturday. Anderson, who also made 9-of-12 free throw attempts, scored 21 of his points in the second half, including a stretch of 14 straight, for the Falcons. He also contributed two steals, one blocked shot and one rebound, while going 2-for-3 from three-point range. Earlier this season, Anderson earned co-player of the week honors with San Diego State s Kyle Spain on Nov. 12. Anderson was named Most Valuable Player after leading the Falcons to a 2-0 record and the tournament title at the 2007 Air Force Classic. Falcons Sixth in Scoring Defense Air Force is ranked No. 4 in the country for scoring defense in the latest NCAA Division I team statistics (Feb. 11). The Falcons are allowing just 57.1 points per game. Stephen F. Austin leads the country, allowing just 53.8 points per game. Individually, senior Tim Anderson is 56th in the country for free-throw shooting at 84.7 percent and 66th in steals at 2.0 per game. Non-Conference Home Streak Ends Air Force s 38-game winning streak at home against non-conference opponents was snapped on Thursday, Nov. 29 with a loss to Colorado at Clune Arena. At the time, the streak was the thirdlongest in the country behind Duke (55) and Sam Houston State (40). The last loss at home to a non-mountain West team at Clune Arena was against Tennessee Tech on Dec. 29, 2001 (64-44). Anderson Top 10 in Games Played Tim Anderson played his 116th career game last Saturday against Utah. He is tied for fourth place with Nick Welch on the school s career list. 5 Anderson Top 10 in MWC Stats Tim Anderson is ranked in the top 10 in several statistical categories for MWC games only. The Falcons are 4-4 this year. Here s a breakdown of the past four seasons at the halfway mark: Anderson Joins the Club With his two assists on Dec. 30 against Wake Forest, Tim Anderson became the 10th player in school history to record 200 assists and 100 steals in his career. Anderson currently has 217 assists and 151 steals in his career. Taking Charge(s) Tim Anderson set a new school record by taking five charges in the game at Wyoming. Anderson also finished the game with three steals. 64 Points Seems to be the Key Air Force is 9-1 this season when it scores 64 points or more. The only loss was a setback at Wake Forest. Conversely, the Falcons are 3-9 when scoring less than 64 points. The three victories are against Radford (52-47), Mississippi Valley St. (58-40) and TCU (56-46). Rarely Lose 10-Point Halftime Lead Last Saturday against Utah, Air Force lost a game after holding a double-digit halftime lead for the first time since Feb. 10, 1996, when the Falcons held a 10-point halftime lead against San Diego State but lost, It was just the second loss this season (11-2) for the Falcons when leading at halftime (Washington State) and Air Force is when leading at halftime since the beginning of the season. Six Lead Team in Boards vs. PVAM For the first time in program history, six different Falcons tied for the team lead in rebounding in one game. Andrew Henke, Tim Anderson, Eric Kenzik, Evan Washington, Keith Maren and Grant Parker each pulled down four rebounds against Prairie View A&M on Dec. 8. Last Time vs. UNLV Air Force 65, UNLV 53 Jan. 12, 2008, USAFA, Colo. Senior Tim Anderson scored a game-high 27 points to lead Air Force past UNLV, 65-53, Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West Conference game in Clune Arena. Anderson scored 21 points in the second half, including a stretch of 14 consecutive, for Air Force as the Falcons took control of the game midway through the first half and never let up. The Falcons used a 14-6 run midway in the first half to break open a two-point game to take a lead with just under three minutes remaining in the half. Air Force opened the second half with an 8-2 run to push a halftime lead to 13 points, 40-27, three minutes into the half. Anderson scored the final three points of the run to begin his streak of 14 straight and 16 of 19 for the Falcons to help open up their biggest lead of the game, 56-39, with 7:22 remaining in the game. The Rebels were never able to get the deficit under 10 points the rest of the way. The Falcons hit a season-best 61.8 percent from the field, including a 66.7 clip on 10 of 15 shooting in the second half. Air Force hit 47.4 percent from three-point range on nine of 19 shooting. Anderson led the way, hitting eight of nine from the field. Keith Maren chipped in with one of his best performances of the season, scoring nine points, grabbing a team-best six rebounds and handing out a career-best six assists. His six assists are the most by a Falcon this season. Evan Washington added seven points and Andrew Henke and Matt Holland scored six points each. UNLV was led by Curtis Terry, who scored 12 points.
